Performance Improvement of Two-Phase Steam Ejector based on CFD Techniques,Response Surface Methodology and Genetic Algorithm

The steam ejector is a crucial component in the waste heat recovery system.Its performance determines the amount of recovered heat and system efficiency.However,poor ejector performance has always been the main bottleneck for system applications.Therefore,this study proposes an optimization methodology to improve the steam ejector's performance by utilizing computational fluid dynamics(CFD) techniques,response surface methodology(RSM),and genetic algorithm(GA).Firstly,a homogeneous equilibrium model(HEM) was established to simulate the two-phase flow in the steam ejector.Then,the orthogonal test was presented to the screening of the key decision variables that have a significant impact on the entrainment ratio(ER).Next,the RSM was used to fit a response surface regression model(RSRM).Meanwhile,the effect of the interaction of geometric parameters on the performance of the steam ejector was revealed.Finally,GA was employed to solve the RSRM's global optimal ER value.The results show that the RSRM exhibits a good fit for ER(R^(2)=0.997).After RSM and GA optimization,the maximum ejector efficiency is 27.94%,which is 48.38% higher than the initial ejector of 18.83%.Furthermore,the optimized ejector efficiency is increased by 46.4% on average under off-design conditions.Overall,the results reveal that the combination of CFD,RSM,and GA presents excellent reliability and feasibility in the optimization design of a two-phase steam ejector.

An electrically controlled tunable photonic crystal filter based on thin-film lithium niobate

In this paper,we present an electrically controlled tunable narrowband filter based on a thin-film lithium niobate two-dimensional(2D)photonic crystal.The filter incorporates a photonic crystal microcavity structure within the straight waveguide,enabling electronic tuning of the transmitted wavelength through added electrode structures.The optimized microcavity filter design achieves a balance between high transmission rate and quality factor,with a transmission center wavelength of 1551.6 nm,peak transmission rate of 96.1%,and quality factor of 5054.Moreover,the filter can shift the central wavelength of the transmission spectrum by applying voltage to the electrodes,with a tuning sensitivity of 13.8 pm/V.The proposed tunable filter adopts a simple-to-fabricate air-hole structure and boasts a compact size(length:11.57μm,width:5.27μm,area:60.97μm^(2)),making it highly suitable for large-scale integration.These features make the filter promising for broad applications in the fields of photonic integration and optical communication.

近年来全球极端暴雨发生的可能性与不确定性提高,增加了城市遭遇特大洪涝灾害的风险。城市雨洪与河道洪水有显著差异,灾后雨洪信息快速采集与调研对认清雨洪特性与致灾机理尤显重要。本文以郑州2021年“7.20”特大暴雨为例,结合郑东新区地理与社会环境特点,采用野外调查测量、口述记录、多源数据分析、数值模拟对比相结合的方法开展了城市雨洪汇流淹没特性及致灾机理的调查研究。针对城市雨洪洪痕特征,拟定调查基本方法与适宜工作程序,根据调查区93处洪痕数据绘制了区域雨洪淹没分布图,分析了城市雨洪峰值水位分布特征及调查区汇流特性,探索了道路雨洪汇流流速及行洪道路阻力参数的确定方法。研究表明,城市雨洪地表主要泄流通道是街区道路,汇流方向受连续阻水、导水建筑与路网布局影响,雨洪淹没深度分布与下垫面条件和雨洪汇流特性有关。致灾机理研究分析表明,极端暴雨汇流远超城市排水管网泄流能力,雨洪选择阻力小的街道快速行洪,街道交汇处壅阻引起局部积水严重,这是极端暴雨致灾的直接诱因;而城市新区水系泄洪排涝关系不协调以及清障不力,导致城区河流行洪不畅,干支流异常高水位的顶托,严重降低了管网排涝功能,则是城市雨洪严重积涝致灾的深层原因。研究成果可为城市雨洪调查标准方法的建立与城市新区防洪排涝体系规划提供技术参考。

Excessive oxidative stress impairs cartilage matrix metabolism balance,significantly contributing to osteoarthritis(OA)development.Celastrol(CSL),a drug derived from Tripterygium wilfordii,has recognized applications in the treatment of cancer and immune system disorders,yet its antioxidative stress mechanisms in OA remain underexplored.This study aimed to substantiate CSL’s chondroprotective effects and unravel its underlying mechanisms.We investigated CSL’s impact on chondrocytes under both normal and inflammatory conditions.In vitro,CSL mitigated interleukin(IL)-1β-induced activation of proteinases and promoted cartilage extracellular matrix(ECM)synthesis.In vivo,intra-articular injection of CSL ameliorated cartilage degeneration and mitigated subchondral bone lesions in OA mice.Mechanistically,it was found that inhibiting nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(NRF2)abrogated CSL-mediated antioxidative functions and exacerbated the progression of OA.This study is the first to elucidate the role of CSL in the treatment of OA through the activation of NRF2,offering a novel therapeutic avenue for arthritis therapy.

Particle size characterization and sources of sediments in the Uzhumqin sand dunes

Sediment constitutes the fundamental basis for forming and evolving aeolian geomorphology. The characteristics of sediment particle size offer insights into the development and evolution of sandy terrain, making their study critical to understanding aeolian geomorphology and sand control. In this study, we combined high-density collection of surface sediments in the Uzhumqin sand dunes and GIS spatial analysis to analyze the particle size parameters and changes in the spatial distribution of surface sediments in this region. In addition, we used an endmember analysis to identify the potential sources of the sediments. The results showed that surface sediments in the Uzhumqin sand dunes had distinct spatial distributions. Medium and coarse grain sands dominated the sediments in the dunes, and the mean grain size and the sorting coefficient generally increased along the prevailing wind direction, with high values in individual areas related to factors such as material sources and vegetation cover. Skewness was strongly influenced by factors such as landform change and human activity, and spatial variability became more complex. Kurtosis and the soil fractal dimension showed generally decreasing trends along the prevailing wind direction. With dune fixation, the contents of clay and powder particles in the soil increased; the mean particle size, the sorting coefficient, and the fractal dimension of the soil gradually increased, and the skewness and kurtosis gradually decreased. The end-member analysis results indicated the existence of five end-members(EM) in the dune sediments. EM 1 was a mixed component of wind-deposited fine sands and nearby fluvial sediments. EM 2 was the main component of sediments in the study area and was the result of sorting lake sediments by wind action and by the local topography. EM 3 may be a product of river flood deposition. To the Editor:Esophageal cancer,one of the most common cancer types in China,with an estimated 346,633 new cases and 323,600 deaths in 2022,is becoming an increasingly serious clinical and public health problem.^([1])The successful promotion of the self-management strategy has indicated that lifestyle modifications can be valuable in the primary prevention of cancer development.Adopting a healthy lifestyle has become a novel strategy for primary prevention and risk reduction in high-risk areas.Previous epidemiological studies have identified several lifestyle-related risk factors for esophageal cancer,including smoking and diet.^([2])Each factor can typically explain a modest proportion of cancer risk.However,when combined,these known risk factors may substantially affect the risk of esophageal cancer.Nevertheless,some risk factors for esophageal cancer are non-modifiable,including age,low socioeconomic status,and family history.Whether and how these non-modifiable risk factors affect primary cancer prevention by intervening with modifiable risk factors remain unclear.

Deep Learning and Tensor-Based Multiple Clustering Approaches for Cyber-Physical-Social Applications

The study delves into the expanding role of network platforms in our daily lives, encompassing various mediums like blogs, forums, online chats, and prominent social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. While these platforms offer avenues for self-expression and community support, they concurrently harbor negative impacts, fostering antisocial behaviors like phishing, impersonation, hate speech, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, cyberterrorism, fake news propagation, spamming, and fraud. Notably, individuals also leverage these platforms to connect with authorities and seek aid during disasters. The overarching objective of this research is to address the dual nature of network platforms by proposing innovative methodologies aimed at enhancing their positive aspects and mitigating their negative repercussions. To achieve this, the study introduces a weight learning method grounded in multi-linear attribute ranking. This approach serves to evaluate the significance of attribute combinations across all feature spaces. Additionally, a novel clustering method based on tensors is proposed to elevate the quality of clustering while effectively distinguishing selected features. The methodology incorporates a weighted average similarity matrix and optionally integrates weighted Euclidean distance, contributing to a more nuanced understanding of attribute importance. The analysis of the proposed methods yields significant findings. The weight learning method proves instrumental in discerning the importance of attribute combinations, shedding light on key aspects within feature spaces. Simultaneously, the clustering method based on tensors exhibits improved efficacy in enhancing clustering quality and feature distinction. This not only advances our understanding of attribute importance but also paves the way for more nuanced data analysis methodologies.
