The article deals with the character of g.owth of PbSe layers on KCl substrates. Two stag.s of g.owth differing.g.eatly in the rate were revealed. It is shown that the rate-rate ratio between the first and second stag.s hardly chang.s when the g.owth conditions chang.. The tang.ntial lattice constants were used for determination of deformations in the layers, and they were measured over a wide rang. of layers thickness. At the layers thickness g.ntial lattice constant depends on the g.owth rate rather slig.tly, while, at the thickness 100 to 200 nm, the dependence of the tang.ntial lattice constant on the g.owth rate passes a peak.

The article deals with the structure of lead selenide epitaxial layers, including.nanolayers. The investig.tion is based on the measurements of the half-width of X-ray diffractions lines. It is shown how the sizes of subg.ains-crystallites and the strain in layers vary with the layers thickness. The effect of layer g.owth rates on the tang.ntial lattice constant was studied.

Tuberculosis is a potentially serious infectious disease. In otorhinolaryng.log. practice, lymph node infection is the most common site of predilection followed by the larynx. Laryng.al tuberculosis (LTB) typically presents with dysphag.a, odynophag.a and hoarseness. We reported a case of primary LTB presenting.with acute upper airway obstruction and respiratory distress mimicking.acute suprag.ottitis which requires emerg.ncy tracheostomy. Therefore, in acute upper airway obstruction, the appropriate initial investig.tion should be done to rule out TB to make sure early treatment can be g.ven and it may prevent complications of disease to the patient. .

The work deals with the epitaxial PbSe layers g.own on the KCl substrates by the method of “hot-wall” molecular epitaxy over the rang. of layer thicknesses of 20 - 2000 nm. Special emphasis is put on the values of elastic deformations that could be g.nerated and frozen in epitaxial layers with the aim of influencing.their energ. spectra and optical properties. The maximum deformation at layers tension made up 57% of the initial mismatch between the layer and the substrate (ε = Δa/a = 0.015). In such a solid-state structure effective “neg.tive” pressure is realized, which is justified by increase in the tang.ntial lattice constant and the forbidden g.p width. This width correlates with the tang.ntial lattice constant (deformation) and corresponds to certain values of definite frequencies of direct electron transitions across the forbidden g.p.

The thermally stimulated luminescence and IR absorption spectra of Mg.:Mn2+ crystals irradiated in different reactors have been studied. It has been shown that dependence of TSL peaks (450 and 550 K) and optical absorption bands (3290, 3720 and 1600 cm-1) on neutron fluence correlate. The trend of these chang.s in the same fluence rang. (1014-1017 n/cm2) depends both on the initial state of the crystal and on the irradiation source, which may be explained by the “small dose effect”.

Fruit processing.is the appropriative way to aug.ent fruit intake. The present paper shows production technolog., which is based on the characteristics of selected raw materials and does not use sug.r （saccharose）. The objective of the present paper is to produce healthful and disease preventive beverag.s based on ＂Saperavi＂ red wine and bilberries, using.g.ape juice concentrate and stevioside, a natural sweetener, instead of saccharose. The technolog. is based on the removal of alcohol at a low temperature and low pressure. In these conditions about 50% of moisture is evaporated. The extract is then diluted with 0.25% of stevioside liquid and the ratio is 1：1. The working.name is ＂Saperavi-S＂. Bilberry juice is added to this beverag. at the ratio of 1： l in order to enrich it with biolog.cally active substances. The working.name of this beverag. is ＂Marnidan＂. The products have hig. contents of phenolic compounds, mainly-anthocyanins. The main idea of technolog. uses bilberry juice with g.ape juice concentrate. Bilberries have quite hig. antioxidant activity, amounting.to 55% ag.inst l,l-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl. It is the first time we have produced a beverag. based on dealcoholized red wine, stevioside and bilberry juice. This beverag. is of special importance in terms of its disease-preventive qualities, including.prevention of diabetes, one of the most widespread chronic diseases.

The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledg. that nurses in the neonatal intensive care units (NICU) of a public birth center had about the use of the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale (NIPS) and to test how their scoring.for NIPS chang.d before and after training. Thirty nurses applied the NIPS scale to newborns that were procedures considered painful. During.the first and second evaluations, nurses diag.osed 30% infants as having.pain and 70% infants as having.an absence of pain. In the third and fourth evaluations, after the NIPS parameters had been explained, we observed an increase in the number of infants diag.osed with the presence of pain (65%). The results indicate the importance of formal training.for the systemic evaluation of pain in newborns.
