Dye molecules often change colors(so-called “chromism”) according to the environment variation. However, they are rarely induced by a catalytic amount of cavity. Through encapsulation in the cavity of a porous coordination cage(PCC-2), Rhodamine B(1) is transformed from red quinonoid form(1q) into colorless lactone form(1l) in aprotic polar solutions. The μ4-OH groups in the cavity of PCC-2 are shown to stabilize the uncommon zwitterion intermediate(1z), followed by converting to 1l, thus accelerating the equilibrium. The chromism is catalyzed by 0.25 mol% of PCC-2, and the reaction rate is improved by 80,400times. 1@PCC-2 can be further fabricated to a sol-gel that exhibits ion recognition properties. The resulting encapsulation and stabilization of an unconventional intermediate by a catalytic amount of the coordination cage provides fundamental insights into molecular isomerization and has potential use in chemical sensing.

Hydrogen-like donor impurity states in symmetric triangular quantum wells are investigated by using a variational *** the effects of the variable effective mass of electrons and the spatially dependent dielectric constant are considered in the *** numerical results show that the binding energy depends on not only the effective mass and dielectric constant but also the spatial distribution of electron probability *** binding energies of donor states get the maximums at the *** results are also compared with those obtained in parabolic and square *** is seen that the triangular well support the highest binding energies for donor states.

BiVO_(4)is one of the most promising photoanode materials for photoelectrochemical(PEC)solar energy conversion,but it still suffers from poor photocurrent density due to insufficient light‐harvesting efficiency(LHE),weak photogenerated charge separation efficiency(Φ_(Sep)),and low water oxidation efficiency(Φ_(OX)).Herein,we tackle these challenges of the BiVO_(4)photoanodes using systematic engineering,including catalysis engineering,bandgap engineering,and morphology *** particular,we deposit a NiCoO_(x)layer onto the BiVO_(4)photoanode as the oxygen evolution catalyst to enhance theΦ_(OX)of Fe‐g‐C_(3)N_(4)/BiVO_(4)for PEC water oxidation,and incorporate Fe‐doped graphite‐phase C_(3)N_(4)(Fe‐g‐C_(3)N_(4))into the BiVO_(4)photoanode to optimize the bandgap and surface areas to subsequently expand the light absorption range of the photoanode from 530 to 690 nm,increase the LHE andΦ_(Sep),and further improve the oxygen evolution reaction activity of the NiCoO_(x)catalytic ***,the maximum photocurrent density of the as‐prepared NiCoO_(x)/Fe‐g‐C_(3)N_(4)/BiVO_(4)is remarkably boosted from 4.6 to 7.4 mA cm^(−2).This work suggests that the proposed systematic engineering strategy is exceptionally promising for improving LHE,Φ_(Sep),andΦ_(OX)of BiVO_(4)‐based photoanodes,which will substantially benefit the design,preparation,and large‐scale application of next‐generation high‐performance photoanodes.

We report on using synthetic silicon for a high-precision X-ray polarimeter comprising a polarizer and an analyzer,each based on a monolithic channel-cut crystal used at multiple Brewster reflections with a Bragg angle very close to 45°.Experiments were performed at the BL09B bending magnet beamline of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility using a Si(800)crystal at an X-ray energy of 12.914 keV.A polarization purity of 8.4×10^(-9)was *** result is encouraging,as the measured polarization purity is the best-reported value for the bending magnet ***,this is the firstly systematic study on the hard X-ray polarimeter in China,which is crucial for exploring new physics,such as verifying vacuum birefringence.

Dopamine improves apple replant disease resistance by regulating physiological resilience and rhizosphere microbial community structure

Apple replant disease(ARD)is a complex agricultural problem caused by multiple stressors that can lead to increased reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels and limited nutrient utilization in ***,existing countermeasures cannot effectively address this ***,we used Malus hupehensis as a test organism to investigate whether the pleiotropic molecule dopamine can alleviate ARD using pot *** application of 100μmol L-1 dopamine significantly promoted the growth of apple seedlings in the replanted soil,with a relative growth rate increase of 17.44%.Our results revealed two major pathways by which dopamine regulates ARD resistance in apple ***,dopamine effectively reduces the level of ROS and activates the expression of genes related to nitrogen(N)transport and *** those genes,MdNLP5,MdNRT1.1,MdNLP2,MdNRT2.5,MdNLP3,MdNRT2.4,MdNADH-GAGOT,and MdFd-GAGOT were strongly regulated by *** regulatory effects promoted the uptake and utilization of soil N by the ***,dopamine improved the physical and chemical properties,enhanced microbial community diversity,and promoted mutual cooperation between microbial communities in the ***,dopamine altered the microbial structure of rhizosphere soil(upregulating Clostridiales,Gaiellales,Sordariales and Mortierellales;downregulating Micrococcales,Longimicrobiales,Hypocreales and Cystobasidiales).Notably,dopamine significantly upregulated the abundances of Gaiella and Mortierella,both of which were positively correlated with soil urease activity,soil available N content,plant growth and N *** also significantly downregulated the abundance of the plant pathogen Gibberella(by 11.71-fold)in replant *** results provide insights into the mechanisms by which dopamine promotes ARD resistance,and can promote the sustainable development of the apple industry.

It is still challenging to fully integrate computing in memory chip as edge learning *** recent work published on Science,a fully-integrated chip based on neuromorphic memristors was developed for edge learning as artificial neural networks with functionality of synapses,dendrites,and somas.A crossbar-array memristor chip facilitated edge learning including hardware realization,learning algorithm,and cycle-parallel sign-and threshold-based learning(STELLAR)*** motion control and demonstration platforms were executed to improve the edge learning ability for adapting to new scenarios.

The water-living reptile genus Hyphalosaurus was previously discovered in the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation bearing the middle Jehol Biota in western Liaoning,*** complete skeletons of Hyphalosaurus are reported for the first time from the jiufotang Formation bearing the late Jehol Biota at two sites in western *** show the typical characteristics of Hyphalosaurus baitaigouensis in terms of the contact between some cranial bones and the number of cervical and dorsal vertebrae,and therefore are assigned to *** discovery extends the stratigraphic range of this species from the Yixian Formation to the overlying jiufotang *** paper further briefly compares the main characteristics of the two skeletons,summarizes the temporal and spatial distribution of Hyphalosaurus,and discusses the palaeogeographic evolution of western Liaoning at the middle and late Jehol Biota stages based on the aquatic habits of Hyphalosaurus and the geological background of western *** analytical results show that the volcanic downwarped lakes,with distinct geographical divisions in western Liaoning during the deposition of the Yixian Formation,had not completely disappeared till the deposition of the jiufotang *** palaeo-lake in the Fuxin-Yixian Basin underwent the process of generation,expansion and shrinkage during the depositional period of the Yixian Formation and finally merged into a large *** palaeo-Dalinghe River,which connected the main basins in western Liaoning during the depositional period of the jiufotang Formation,was formed simultaneously.

Serving as one of the largest rivers in terms of both sediment and organic carbon transport fluxes in the world,the Yellow River plays a crucial role in regional biogeochemical process as well as in the global carbon ***,although a large number of studies have been carried out on the flux,composition,source and seasonal variation of total particulate organic carbon in the Yellow River so far,studies on molecular biomarkers at different spatial and temporal scales are still *** this study,we focus on the molecular and hydrogen isotopic properties of leaf wax n-alkanes among different types of samples which obtained from different seasons(flood ***-flood)along the lower Yellow *** molecular distribution of n-alkanes show that the riparian topsoils are subject to inputs from the overlying vegetation,while the suspended sediments from the flood season are characterized by the mixing of soil materials which originate from various stratigraphy with different ages on the Chinese Loess *** to the contrasting hydrodynamic conditions,the n-alkanes in suspended sediments also show distinct molecular composition between flood and non-flood ***,considering the effect of climatic factors,the proportion of monocots in flood-season suspended sediments is calculated from a semi-quantitative perspective using δ^(2)H_(wax).Our findings may bring to light new considerations for the interpretation of leaf wax proxies in studies of organic matter sources of Yellow River.
