Of all the methods available for the management of first trimester miscarriages, manual vacuum aspiration is the safest, cheapest and fastest. However, pain caused by manipulation of cervix and uterine suction makes it uncomfortable. We compared the clinical effectiveness and adverse effects of combination of non-selective COX inhibitor (Diclofenac Sodium 50 mg) and opioid (Pentaz.cine 60 mg) to commonly used opiod only (Pentaz.cine 60 mg) in daily practice of pain management for the treatment of incomplete abortion with manual vacuum aspiration. This was a randomiz.d double-blind controlled trial conducted in Gynaecological Emergency clinic of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano, Nigeria. Comparison of the level of pain experienced during the procedure revealed statistically significant difference in the level of pain reported among the groups (P-value 0.03). Comparison of severity of pain perception and patients’ satisfaction was found to be negatively related (P < 0.000001). The present study shows that the use of combined analgesia compared to single agent analgesia during MVA is more, safe, significantly reduced pain and improved patient satisfaction during the procedure.

Background Opisthorchiid flukes, particularlyOpisthorchis viverrini,Opisthorchis felineus,Clonorchis sinensis, andMetorchis spp. are the most common fish-borne z.onotic human liver flukes (hLFs). Liver fluke infections are more prevalent in resource-deprived and underprivileged areas. We herein estimated the prevalence of the metacercariae (MC) of major hLFs in common large freshwater fishes (lFWF) marketed for human consumption from some selected areas of Bangladesh along with detection of their molluscan vectors and *** The current status of fish-borne z.onotic hLF infections in lFWF was investigated along with their molluscan vectors and mammalian reservoir hosts in Mymensingh and Kishoreganj in Bangladesh from July 2018–June 2022 using conventional and multiple molecular techniques, such as PCR, PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP), sequencing, and bioinformatic analyses. The infection rate of fishes was analyz.d using thez.test and the loads of MC were compared using the chi-squared (χ2) *** The MC ofC. sinensis,Opisthorchis spp., andMetorchis spp. were detected in 11 species of common and popular lFWF. In lFWF, the estimated prevalence was 18.7% and the mean load was 137.4 ± 149.8 MC per 100 g of fish. The prevalence was the highest (P 0.05) distributed between the head and body of fishes. The infection rate was slightly higher in cultured (19.6%) fishes. The MC ofC. sinensis,O. felineus,O. viverrini, andMetorchis orientalis in fishes were confirmed using PCR, PCR-RFLP and bioinformatics. The cercariae of opisthorchiid (Pleurolophocercus cercariae) flukes were only recovered fromBithynia spp. (3.9%, 42 out of 1089). Study of the Adsorption Efficiency of an Eco-Friendly Carbohydrate Polymer for Contaminated Aqueous Solution by Organophosphorus Pesticide

The removal of pesticide (ethoprophos) from aqueous solution using a natural biosorbent such as chitosan (CH) prepared from a biopolymer waste obtained from marine industry was studied. The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) were used to study the structure of the adsorbent. The biosorption studies were carried out under various parameters, such as biosorbent dose, initial pesticide concentration and contact time. The experimental results show that the removal percentage of ethoprophos increased from 85.693% to 89.234%, as adsorbent dose (CH) increased from 0.02 to 0.1 g/100ml. The equilibrium uptake was increased with an increase in the initial pesticide concentration in solution. Biosorption kinetic data were fitted well with the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The experimental isotherms data were analyz.d using Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) isotherm equations. The best fit was obtained by Freundlich isotherm with high correlation coefficients. That the value of energy calculated from the D-R isotherm was 5.56 KJ/mol suggests the adsorption of ethoprophos on Chitosan is physical. All the results indicating CH was chosen as low-cost biosorbent could be applied for the removal of organophosphorous pesticide from aqueous solutions.

Inflammation of Uvula occurs in isolation or along with supraglottitis. The annual incidence of supraglottitis is described as0.97 to 1.8 per 100,000. The author presents 15 cases of Uvulitis seen in a General hospital of the United Kindgom. Age group ofpatients was between 25-38 years, 9 males and 6 females. One patient developed Uvilitis following inhalation of cannabis and twofollowing the use of marijuana, three were diagnosed to be suffering with bacterial infection. All the patients were treated with steroidsand inhaled adrenaline. Those suffering with bacterial uvilitis required antibiotics.

A high-order Navier-Stokes solver based on the flux reconstruction(FR)or the correction procedure via reconstruction(CPR)formulation is employed to perform a direct numerical simulation(DNS)and large eddy simulations(LES)of a well-known benchmark problem–transitional flow over the low-pressure T106C turbine ***-refinement studies are carried out to assess the resolution requirement.A 4th order(p3)simulation on the fine mesh is performed with a DNS resolution to establish a"converged"solution,including the mean pressure and skin-friction distributions,and the power spectral density in the *** LES on the coarse and fine meshes with lower order schemes are conducted to assess the mesh and order dependence of the *** particular,we study the error in the transition location,the mean skin-friction distribution,and the mean lift and drag *** h-and p-refinement studies provide a much-needed guideline in h-and p-resolutions to achieve a certain level of accuracy for industrial LES applications.

The main objective of this paper is to discuss a general family of distributions generated from the symmetrical arcsine *** considered family includes various asymmetrical and symmetrical probability distributions as special cases.A particular case of a symmetrical probability distribution from this family is the Arcsine–Gaussian *** statistical properties of this distribution including quantile,mean residual life,order statistics and moments are *** Arcsine–Gaussian parameters are estimated using two classical estimation methods called moments and maximum likelihood methods.A simulation study which provides asymptotic distribution of all considered point estimators,90%and 95%asymptotic confidence intervals are performed to examine the estimation efficiency of the considered methods *** simulation results show that both biases and variances of the estimators tend to z.ro as the sample siz. increases,i.e.,the estimators are asymptotically ***,when the sample siz. increases the coverage probabilities of the confidence intervals increase to the nominal levels,while the corresponding length decrease and approach *** real data sets from the medicine filed are used to illustrate the flexibility of the Arcsine–Gaussian distribution as compared with the normal,logistic,and Cauchy *** proposed distribution is very versatile to fit real applications and can be used as a good alternative to the traditional gaussian distribution.
