w.en COVID-19 devastated older-adult organizations(long-term care h.mes and retirement h.mes), most public attention w.s directed tow.rd th. older-adult residents rath.r th.n th.ir service providers. Th.s w.s especially true in th. case of personal support w.rkers, some of w.om are over th. age of 55, putting th.m in tw. separate categories in th. COVID-19 settings:(1) a vulnerable and marginalized group w.o are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19;and(2) essential h.alth.are w.rkers. Since th. current disaster-driven research. practice, and policy h.ve primarily focused on generalized assumptions th.t older-adults are a vulnerable, passive, and dependent group rath.r th.n recognizing th.ir diversity, expertise, assets, and experiences, th.s study aimed to identify th.ir contributions from th. perspective of older-adult personal support w.rker(OAPSw.. Th.s qualitative study conducted in-depth.interview., inviting 15 OAPSw. from th. Greater Toronto Area, Canada. Th.s study uncovered th. OAPSw.' contribution at th.ee levels: individual(enh.ncing ph.sical h.alth. mental h.alth. and overall w.ll-being), w.rk(improving w.rking environment and service and supporting co-w.rkers), and family(protecting th.ir nuclear and extended families). Th. outcomes inform th. older-adult research. practice, policy, public discourse, and education by enh.ncing th. appreciation of older-adults' diverse strength. and promoting th.ir engagement and contributions in disaster settings.

Fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))exposure is associated w.th.cardiovascular disease(CVD)morbidity and *** are sensitive targets of PM_(2.5),and mitoch.ndrial dysfunction is closely related to th. occurrence of *** epigenetic mech.nism of PM_(2.5)-triggered mitoch.ndrial injury of cardiomyocytes is *** study focused on th. mi R-421/SIRT3 signaling path.0}y to investigate th. regulatory mech.nism in cardiac mitoch.ndrial dynamics imbalance in rat h.c2 cells induced by PM_(2.5).Results illustrated th.t PM_(2.5)impaired mitoch.ndrial function and caused dynamics h.meostasis ***,PM_(2.5)up-regulated mi R-421 and dow.-regulated SIRT3 gene expression,along w.th.decreasing p-FOXO3a(SIRT3 dow.stream target gene)and p-Parkin expression and triggering abnormal expression of fusion gene OPA1 and fission gene ***,mi R-421 inh.bitor(mi R-421i)and resveratrol significantly elevated th. Objective: To evaluate macular nerve fiber layer (NFL) th.ckness in glaucomatous damage by optical coh.rence tomograph. (OCT) and to compare its discriminating pow.r for glaucoma and glaucoma suspects w.th.th.t of total macular th.ckness and peripapillary NFL th.ckness. Design: Cross- sectional, casecontrol, comparative study. Participants: A total of 133 eyes from 133 subjects including 46 normal eyes,48 glaucomasuspect eyes, and 39 glaucoma eyes w.re enrolled. Meth.ds: Macular NFL th.ckness, total macular th.ckness, and peripapillary NFL th.ckness w.re measured by Stratus OCT in each.diagnostic group. Main Outcome Measures: Th. patterns and measurements of macular NFL, totalmacular, and peripapillary NFL th.ckness in total mean,4 quadrants, and 12 clock h.urs. Th. discriminating pow.r of each.parameter for detection of glaucoma suspects and glaucoma w.s evaluated by areas under th. receiver operating ch.racteristic curve (AROC). Correspondence w.th.visual field function w.s studied by linear regression analysis. Results: Th. macular NFL profile exh.bited a double- h.mp pattern w.th.peaks over superonasal and inferonasal sectors. A significant difference in macular NFL th.ckness betw.en normal and glaucoma- suspect groups w.s found at th. 6- o’ clock position, w.ereas a difference w.s found in all except th. temporal clock h.urs betw.en normal and glaucoma subjects. No significant difference in AROCs for detection of glaucoma suspects or glaucoma w.s found w.en macular NFL th.ckness and total macular th.ckness measurements w.re compared. h.w.ver, mean macular NFL th.ckness demonstrated a stronger correlation w.th.visual function th.n mean macular th.ckness (r=0.39/R2=0.15 vs. r=0.23/R2=0.05, P=0.042). Among all th. findings, inferior peripapillary NFL th.ckness h.d th. best performance in discriminating glaucoma (AROC, 0.91) and glaucoma suspects (AROC, 0.67). It also h.d th. strongest correlation w.th.visual function (r=0.60/R2=0.36,P< 0.001). Conclusions: Macular

w. aim to evaluate th. incidence of incontinence follow.ng laser endoscopic enucleation of th. prostate(EEP)comparing en-bloc(Group 1)versus 2-lobe/3-lobe tech.iques(Group 2).w. performed a retrospective review.of patients undergoing EEP for benign prostaticenlargement in 12 centers betw.en January 2020 and January *** w.re presented as median and interquartile range(IQR).Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analysis w.s performed to evaluate factors associated w.th.stress urinary incontinence(SUI)and mixed urinary incontinence(MUI).Th.re w.re 1711 patients in Group 1 and 3357 patients in Group *** in Group 2w.re significantly younger(68[62–73]years vs 69[63–74]years,P=0.002).Median(interquartile range)prostate volume(PV)w.ssimilar betw.en th. groups(70[52–92]ml in Group 1 vs 70[54–90]ml in Group 2,P=0.774).Th.re w.s no difference in preoperativeInternational Prostate Symptom Score,quality of life,or maximum flow.***,morcellation,and total surgical time w.resignificantly sh.rter in Group *** 1 month.overall incontinence rate w.s 6.3%in Group 1 versus 5.3%in Group 2(P=0.12),and urge incontinence w.s significantly h.gh.r in Group 1(55.1%vs 37.3%in Group 2,Ph.,th. overall rate ofincontinence w.s 1.7%in Group 1 versus 2.3%in Group 2(P=0.06),and SUI w.s significantly h.gh.r in Group 2(55.6%vs 24.1%in Group 1,P=0.002).At multivariable analysis,PV and IPSS w.re factors significantly associated w.th.h.gh.r odds of transient SUI/***,surgical time,and no early apical release tech.ique w.re factors associated w.th.h.gh.r odds of persistent SUI/MUI.

Recently, th. h.gh.tech.industry h.s become a key industry for economic development in many countries. h.w.ver, vibration sensitive equipment located in th.se industrial buildings is vulnerable during earth.uakes, w.ich.may cause h.ge economic loss. In th.s study, an innovative isolator for safeguarding th. vibration sensitive equipment, namely, th. static dynamics interch.ngeable^all pendulum system （SDI-BPS） is proposed and investigated to examine its protective capability for th. vibration sensitive equipment during earth.uakes th.ough.a series of tri-directional sh.king table tests. Th. experimental results illustrate th.t th. SDI-BPS isolator can provide significant damping to rolling types of base isolation systems for reducing th. bearing displacement and size, and avoid th. stress concentration, w.ich.can cause damage or scratch.s on th. rolling surface of th. isolator, to prolong its life span of service. Th. SDI-BPS isolator also provides excellent capability in protecting th. vibration sensitive equipment and exh.bits a stable beh.vior under long terms of service loadings and earth.uakes.

BACKGROUND Diabetes mellitus(DM)is a serious and grow.ng global h.alth.*** is estimated th.t 80%of diabetic patients h.ve micturition problems such.as poor emptying,urinary incontinence,urgency,and urgency *** w.th.diabetic bladder dysfunction are often resistant to currently available *** is necessary to develop new.and effective treatment *** To examine th. th.rapeutic effect of h.man amniotic fluid stem cells(h.FSCs)th.rapy on bladder dysfunction in a type 2 diabetic rat *** Sixty female Sprague-Daw.ey rats w.re divided into five groups:Group 1,normal-diet control(control);group 2,h.gh.fat diet(h.D);group 3,h.D plus streptozotocin-induced DM(DM);group 4,DM plus insulin treatment(DM+insulin);group 5,DM plus h.FSCs injection via tail vein(DM+h.FSCs).Conscious cystometric studies w.re done at 4 and 12 w. after insulin or h.FSCs treatment to measure peak voiding pressure,voided volume,intercontraction interval,bladder capacity,and residual *** and/or mRNA expression of muscarinic receptors,nerve grow.h.factor(NGF),and sensory nerve markers in th. bladder and insulin,MafA,and pancreatic-duodenal h.meobox-1(PDX-1)in pancreatic beta cells w.re *** Compared w.th.DM rats,insulin but not h.FSCs treatment could reduce th. bladder w.igh. and improve th. voided volume,intercontraction interval,bladder capacity,and residual volume(Ph.w.ver,both.insulin and h.FSCs treatment could h.lp to regain th. blood glucose and bladder functions to th. levels near controls(P>0.05).Th. immunoreactivities and mRNA expression of M2-and M3-muscarinic receptors(M2 and M3)w.re increased mainly at 4 w.(Pw.ile th. number of beta cells in islets and th. immunoreactivities and/or mRNA of NGF,calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP),substance P,insulin,MafA,and PDX-1 w.re decreased in DM rats(Ph.w.ver,insulin and h.FSCs treatment could h.lp to regain th. expression of M2,M3,NGF,CGRP,substance P,MafA

Objective:To investigate th. effect of h.nokiol on oxidative damage in h.CaT h.man ***:h.CaT cells w.re exposed to h.drogen peroxide(h.(2)O_(2)),follow.ng pretreatment w.th.various concentrations of *** alleviating effects of h.nokiol on h.CaT cell viability and cell death.reactive oxygen species(ROS)production,DNA damage,mitoch.ndrial dynamics,and inh.bition of adenosine triph.aph.te production against h.(2)O_(2)w.re *** blotting analysis w.s used to analyze th. expression levels of specific ***:h.nokiol suppressed h.(2)O_(2)-induced cytotoxicity and DNA damage by blocking abnormal ROS *** also prevented apoptosis by inh.biting loss of mitoch.ndrial membrane potential and release of cytoch.ome c from th. mitoch.ndria into th. cytosol,decreasing th. Bax/Bcl-2 ratio,and reducing th. activity of caspase-3 in h.(2)O_(2)-stimulated h.CaT *** addition,h.nokiol attenuated h.(2)O_(2)-induced reduction of adenosine triph.sph.te content,and activation of AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)w.s markedly promoted by h.nokiol in h.(2)O_(2)-stimulated ***,th. anti-apoptosis and anti-proliferative activity of h.nokiol against h.(2)O_(2)w.s furth.r enh.nced by adding an activator of AMPK,indicating th.t h.nokiol activated AMPK in h.CaT keratinocytes to protect against oxidative ***:Th. present results indicate th.t h.nokiol may be useful as a potential th.rapeutic agent against various oxidative stress-related skin diseases.
