Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common malignancies and remains the second leading cause of cancer-related death *** is an increasing understanding of the roles that genetic and epigenetic alterations play in *** studies using nextgeneration sequencing(NGS)have revealed a number of potential cancer-driving genes in ***-exome sequencing of GC has identified recurrent somatic mutations in the chromatin remodeling gene ARID1A and alterations in the cell adhesion gene FAT4,a member of the cadherin gene *** in chromatin remodeling genes(ARID1A,MLL3 and MLL)have been found in 47%of ***-genome sequencing and whole-transcriptome sequencing analyses have also discovered novel alterations in *** studies of cancer epigenetics have revealed widespread alterations in genes involved in the epigenetic machinery,such as DNA methylation,histone modifications,nucleosome positioning,noncoding RNAs and *** advances in molecular research on GC have resulted in the introduction of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies into clinical *** antihuman epidermal growth receptor 2(HER2)antibody trastuzumab has led to an era of personalized therapy in *** addition,ramucirumab,a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor(VEGFR)-2,is the first biological treatment that showed survival benefits as a single-agent therapy in patients with advanced GC who progressed after firstline *** NGS to systematically identify gene alterations in GC is a promising approach with remarkable potential for investigating the pathogenesis of GC and identifying novel therapeutic targets,as well as useful *** this review,we will summarize the recent advances in the understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of GC,focusing on the potential use of these genetic and epigenetic alterations as diagnostic biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets.

Dataset for Beam Commissioning of the Vero4DRT System

We present the results of measurements made using the Vero4DRT radiation therapy system, which is not yet widely used, to assist technicians in achieving reliable and safe radiotherapy to the patient. We measured percent depth dose, beam profile, and relative scatter factor under water and air conditions. The Vero4DRT system has a 150 × 150-mm fixed secondary collimator. Its multileaf collimator (MLC) design is a single-focus type, with 30 pairs of 5 mm thick leaves at the isocenter, and produces a maximum field size of 150 × 150 mm. Profile measurements were performed using a 0.016-cm3 ionization chamber (PTW31016 pinpoint chamber;PTW, Freiburg GmbH Germany). A brass build-up cap was used for measurements obtained in air conditions. We present a useful measurement dataset for users of the Vero4DRT system.

Successful endoscopic fragmentation of large hardened fecaloma using jumbo forceps

We present a rare case of fecaloma, 7 cm in size, in the setting of systemic scleroderma. A colonoscopy revealed a giant brown fecaloma occupying the lumen of the colon and a colonic ulcer that was caused by the fecaloma. The surface of the fecaloma was hard, large and slippery, and fragmentation was not possible despite the use of various devices, including standard biopsy forceps, an injection needle, and a snare. However, jumbo forceps were able to shave the surface of the fecaloma and break it successfully by repeated biting for 6 h over 2 d. The ability of the jumbo forceps to collect large mucosal samples was also appropriate for achieving fragmentation of the giant fecaloma.

Beam Characteristics at Low Dose Monitor Unit Settings for Vero4DRT

The stability of delivery of low monitor unit (MU) setting is important especially for step-and-shoot intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), because the nature of the technique is inherent to repeat beam on/off according to the number of the segments. This study evaluates the dose linearity and profile flatness/symmetry under low MU settings for Vero4DRT, a new linear-accelerator based irradiation system that currently implements step-and-shoot IMRT. To evaluate the dose linearity and flatness/symmetry, the point doses and beam profiles were measured as functions of MU and dose rates. The accuracy of dose delivery depended on the dose rate. Under all dose rates, the dose was linear within 1% above 5 MU and within 2% above 3 MU. The beam symmetry was degraded in-line compared with crossline, although both profiles were symmetric within 2% at all dose settings. The profile flatness was also within 2% above 5 MU at any dose rate and showed no significant variation among the low MU settings. To ensure stable beam delivery without increasing the treatment time of Vero4DRT, we recommend a delivery of 5 MU per segment at a dose rate of 500 MU/min.

Japanese University Teachers’ Depression Status and Its Influence Factors

Risk factors of the depression are the occupational stress. The mental health condition of university teachers who participate in the socialization of diverse students is an important issue;however, there are few studies on depression among university teachers. The purpose of this study is to clarify Japanese university teachers’ depression status assessed by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and its influence factors: Japanese university teachers’ depression status depression status, personal background, job situation, social support, and stress coping behavior. The self-administered questionnaire survey was mailed to 924 university teachers in Japan, with a survey return rate of 43.8% (N = 405). A total of 342 surveys were completed and valid. The Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), the Japanese version of the Brief Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced (COPE) and the Work Situation Questionnaire (WSQ) were analyzed to clarify the depression status and its influence factors. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to examine factors related to the major depression. The subjects included 274 men (80.1%) and 68 women (19.9%), 105 professors (30.7%), 52 associate professors (15.2%), 53 lecturers (15.5%) and 132 assistants (38.6%). The subjects’ mean of age and teaching experiences were 44.1 ± 9.7 years, 15.6 ± 10.1 years. The mean PHQ score was 3.9 ± 4.1, and 307 subjects (89.8%) were 0 - 9 points and 35 subjects (10.2%) were over 10 points (10 points or over). For women [OR = 7.009, 95% CI 2.387 - 20.584;p < 0.001], religion [OR = 1.813, 95% CI 1.175 - 2.798;p = 0.007], self-blame [OR = 1.808, 95% CI 1.280 - 2.556;p = 0.001], substance use [OR = 1.453, 95% CI 1.103 - 1.913;p = 0.008] were risk factors of depression status. An Online Malicious Spam Email Detection System Using Resource Allocating Network with Locality Sensitive Hashing

In this paper, we propose a new online system that can quickly detect malicious spam emails and adapt to the changes in the email contents and the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) links leading to malicious websites by updating the system daily. We introduce an autonomous function for a server to generate training examples, in which double-bounce emails are automatically collected and their class labels are given by a crawler-type software to analyze the website maliciousness called SPIKE. In general, since spammers use botnets to spread numerous malicious emails within a short time, such distributed spam emails often have the same or similar contents. Therefore, it is not necessary for all spam emails to be learned. To adapt to new malicious campaigns quickly, only new types of spam emails should be selected for learning and this can be realized by introducing an active learning scheme into a classifier model. For this purpose, we adopt Resource Allocating Network with Locality Sensitive Hashing (RAN-LSH) as a classifier model with a data selection function. In RAN-LSH, the same or similar spam emails that have already been learned are quickly searched for a hash table in Locally Sensitive Hashing (LSH), in which the matched similar emails located in “well-learned” are discarded without being used as training data. To analyze email contents, we adopt the Bag of Words (BoW) approach and generate feature vectors whose attributes are transformed based on the normalized term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF). We use a data set of double-bounce spam emails collected at National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan from March 1st, 2013 until May 10th, 2013 to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. The results confirm that the proposed spam email detection system has capability of detecting with high detection rate.
