Study on the geochemical characteristics of arc-volcanic rocks in the Chiang Rai-Lampang belt of northern Thailand

On the basis of the petrographic characteristics, rock assemblages, petrochemistry, REEs, trace elements and geotectonic settings, the authors described the characteristics of continental marginal arc-volcanic rocks in the Late Permian-Early Triassic (P2-T1) volcanic rocks distributed on the eastern side of the ocean-ridge/oceanic island basalts in the Chiang Mai belt. The volcanic rock assemblage is basaltic andesite-andesite-rhyolite. The volcanic series is dominated by the calc-alkaline series, with the tholeitic series coming next. The chemical composition of the volcanic rocks is characterized by high Al2O3; the REE distribution patterns are of the LREE-enrichment rightward incline type; the large cation elements are highly enriched, and the volcanic rocks are generally enriched in U and Th and depleted in Ti, Cr and P. The petrochemical plot falls within the field of island-arc volcanic rocks, in consistency with the projected points of continental marginal arc-volcanic rocks in the Lancangjiang belt. These continental mar-ginal arc-volcanic rocks, together with ocean-ridge/oceanic island-type volcanic rocks in the Chiang Mai belt, con-stitute the ocean-ridge volcanic rock-arc magmatic rock belts distributed in pairs, indicative of eastward subduction of the oceanic crust in the Chiang Mai belt. This result is of great importance in exploring the evolution of the paleo-Tethys in the Chiang Mai belt.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the role of adenosine triphosphate(ATP) purinergic signaling in mast cells(MCs) modulated by heat to further understand the molecular mechanisms of ***:Skin temperatures induced by monkshood cake moxibustion were evaluated by measuring the Neiguan acupoint(PC 6) from 31 participants with a digital thermocouple *** of 43 ℃ and 52 ℃ were applied to cultured human leukemia mast cell line HMC-1 in *** fluorescence was applied to detect intracellular Ca^(2+)([Ca^(2+)]_i).Extracellular ATP contents were measured by luciferin-luciferase ***:Maximum skin temperatures mostly ranged from 40-45 ℃,but some reached up to50 ℃.Both 43 ℃,and 52 ℃ induced MC degranulation,which was accompanied by an increase in[Ca^(2+)]_i and ATP *** extracellular Ca^(2+) with 5 mM ethylene glycol-bis(β-aminoethyl ether)-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid(EGTA) inhibited the noxious heat-induced elevation of[Ca^(2+)]_i and prevented the enhanced ATP secretion by those cells at 52℃ but not 43 ℃.CONCLUSION:Monkshood cake moxibustion can generate heat sufficient to trigger cellular events of MCs,including degranulation,[Ca^(2+)]_i elevation,and ATP release,suggesting that purinergic signals originating from MCs are possibly the initiating response of acupoints to moxibustion.

Contrasting elevational diversity patterns for soil bacteria between two ecosystems divided by the treeline

Above- and below-ground organisms are closely linked, but how elevational distribution pattern of soil microbes shifting across the treeline still remains unknown. Sampling of 140 plots with transect, we herein investigated soil bacterial distribution pattern from a temperate forest up to a subalpine meadow along an elevational gradient using Illumina sequencing. Our results revealed distinct elevational patterns of bacterial diversity above and below the treeline in responding to changes in soil condi- tions： a hollow elevational pattern in the forest （correlated with soil temperature, pH, and C：N ratio） and a significantly de- creasing pattem in the meadow （correlated with soil pH, and available phosphorus）. The bacterial community structure was also distinct between the forest and meadow, relating to soil pH in the forest and soil temperature in the meadow. Soil bacteria did not follow the distribution pattern of herb diversity, but bacterial community structure could be predicted by herb community composition. These results suggest that plant communities have an important influence on soil characteristics, and thus change the elevational distribution of soil bacteria. Our findings are useful for future assessments of climate change impacts on microbial community.

One-step Synthesis of Shape-controllable Gold Nanoparticles and Their Application in Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering

Gold nanoparticles （NPs） of various shapes were synthesized by a one-step method at ambient temperature in the presence of NaCl. 2-mercaptosuccinic acid （MSA） was used as both reducing agent and stabilizing agent. The shapes of gold NPs were controllable by simply tuning S/Au ratio （S is from MSA molecule, and S/Au ratio is controlled by tuning the volume of added MSA solution）, and triangle, polygonal and spherical nanoparticles were obtained. This result suggested a new way to consider the effects of MSA on the growth of nanoparticles, which showed that MSA is a strong capping agent and facilitates more uniform growth of nanoparticles in every dimension. And other important factors on nanoparticles growth including NaCl and temperature were discussed. Furthermore, a typical probe molecule, 4-aminothiophenol （4-ATP） was used to test the surface-enhanced Raman scattering （SERS） activity of these gold NPs and the results indicated good Raman activity on these substrates. And the enhancement factor （EF） at 1078 cm^- 1 （a1） was estimated to be as large as 6.3 × 10^4 and 5.5 × 10^4 for triangular plates and truncated particles, respectively.

Semiconductor combination is one of the most common strategies to obtain high-efficiency photocatalysts;however, the effect mechanism of composition ratio on micro-structure and photocatalytic activity is remaining unclear. In this study, a case of g-C_(3)N_(4) quantum dots@SnS_(2) (CNQDn@SnS_(2)) heterojunction with different ratio of CNQD is used to uncover the origin of optimum and excess composition for photocatalysts. Research on the functional mechanism of the optimum composition shows that 0.8 wt.% CNQD are completely attached to the non-(001) facets of SnS_(2), which benefits the formation of type-II heterojunction, resulting in an optimal pollutant degradation and mineralization efficiency. For the excess composition, both experiments and theoretical calculations confirm that excess CNQD (the part exceeding of 0.8 wt.%) located on the (001) facet of SnS_(2), leading to the type-I band alignment of this heterojunction, which severely restricts the separation of photo-induced charge carriers, and thus reduces their lifetime. This work makes the functional mechanism of composition ratio on micro-structure and photocatalytic activity clearer. Related research results provide a new insight into semiconductor combination study and take an important step toward the rational design of highly active photocatalysts.

Here we report a simple and scalable method to fabricate high performance thin-film field-effect transistors(FETs) with high yield based on chemically functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs) by organic radical *** UV-Vis-NIR spectra,Raman spectra and electrical characterization demonstrated that metallic species in CoMoCat 65 and HiPco SWNTs could be effectively eliminated after reaction with some organic radical *** effects of the substrate properties on the electrical properties of FET devices were investigated,and the results showed that the electrical properties of FET devices fabricated on high hydrophobic substrates were better than those on low hydrophobic ***,it was found that FET devices based on 1,1'-azobis(cyanocyclohexane)(ACN)-modified CoMoCat 65 SWNTs exhibited more excellent electrical performance with effective mobility of ～11.8 cm2/Vs and on/off ratio of ～2×105 as compared with benzoyl peroxide(BPO)-modified CoMoCat 65 SWNTs and lauoryl peroxideand(LPO)-modified HiPco SWNTs,likely due to the introduction of the electron-withdrawing groups(CN group) on the SWNT *** method does not require nontrivial reaction conditions or complicated purification after reaction,therefore promising low-cost production of high-performance devices for macroelectronics.

AIM To investigate predictive and prognostic value of serum alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) level and its dynamic changes in patients with advanced gastric cancer with elevated serum AFP(AFPAGC).METHODS One hundred and five patients with AFPAGC were enrolled in the study, and all of them underwent at least one cycle of systemic chemotherapy at our institute and had serum AFP ≥ 20 ng/m L at diagnosis or recurrence. Clinicopathologic features, serum AFP level at diagnosis and changes during treatment, first-line chemotherapy regimens, efficacy and toxicity, and survival information were collected. A Person's χ~2 or Fisher's exact test was used to measure the differences between variables. Survival prognostic factors were investigated using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox *** Median serum AFP level was 161.7 ng/m L(range, 22.9-2557110 ng/m L). Objective response rates(ORR) was significantly lower in the AFP ≥ 160 ng/m L group than in the AFP < 160 ng/m L group(30.4% vs 68.3%, P < 0.001). ORR to doublet regimens was significantly lower in the AFP ≥ 160 ng/m L group, whereas ORR to triplet regimens was similar between the two groups. Liver metastasis rate was significantly higher in the AFP ≥ 160 ng/m L group than in the AFP < 160 ng/m L(69.8% vs 50.0%, P < 0.001). Overall survival(OS) in the two cohorts did not show any significant difference(P = 0.712). Dynamic changes of AFP were consistent with response to chemotherapy, and median OS of patients with a serum AFP decline ≥ 50% and those with a serum AFP decline < 50% was 17.5 m and 10.0 m, respectively(P = 0.003). Hepatic(P = 0.005), peritoneal(P < 0.001), non-regional lymph node metastasis(P < 0.001), and portal vein tumor thrombus(PVTT)(P = 0.042) were identified as independent prognostic factors for AFPAGC. CONCLUSION Real-time examination of AFP has great predictive and prognostic value for managing AFPAGC. For those with markedly elevated AFP, triplet regimens may be a better choice.
