Mitigation on self-discharge behaviors via morphological control of hierarchical Ni-sulfides/Ni-oxides electrodes for long-life-supercapacitors

To cope up with the sustainable energy storage goals for supercapacitors(SCs),the self-discharge in SC electrodes is a significant hurdle,and thereby,nickel sulfide(NS)with high conductivity is adopted as a test vehicle for understanding the morphological evolution effects for long-life ***,honeycomb-like NS is hierarchically formed over hydrothermally grown nickel oxide(NO)via successive ionic layer adsorption reaction(SILAR)*** heterostructure shows a fivefold improvement in specific capacitance from 348 F g^(−1) to 2077 F g^(−1)at 1 mV s^(−1) over bare ***,the remarkable upliftment of capacitance retention is achieved from 60.7%to 92.3%even after 3000 cycles via morphological control of NS/NO hetero-structure with the help of highly conductive *** importantly,the self-discharge behaviors and synergistic role of leakage current associated with morphological evolution via NS overcoating are studied in *** particular,the self-discharge mitigation from 45%(NO)to 35%(NS20/NO)due to the NS/NO heterostructure and the behind mechanism are ascribed to the activated-controlled Faradaic reaction coupled with a charge *** study emphasizes the potential importance of composite heterostructure by tuning the electrical conductivity and morphological adjustment NO via consecutive overcoating of NS through SILAR as a novel *** enhances charge storage,redox kinetics,and the mitigation of self-discharge properties of the active electrode *** practical validation on sustainable energy storage,NS20/NO supercapacitors illuminate the LED for 35%longer than NO after one-time charging,potentially beneficial for the next generation SCs.

The development of carbon dioxide(CO_2) sorbents that can operate at elevated temperatures is significant for the advancement of pre-combustion capture ***, promoter-based systems composed of alkali/alkaline earth metal nitrates and/or carbonates have been considered as next-generation solid sorbents due to their improved CO_2 uptake and kinetics. However, obtaining stable MgO sorbents against temperature swing regeneration still remained challenging. Herein, we report MgO-TiO_2 solid sorbents promoted by eutectic mixture(KNO_3 and LiNO_3) for elevated temperature CO_2 sorption. The developed sorbents show improved CO_2 sorption capacity, which may be attributed to the alternative CO_2 sorption pathway provided by the ionization of highly dispersed MgO in the eutectic mixture. The MgO-TiO_2 framework was also shown to assist in retaining the MgO configuration by constraining its interaction with CO_2. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that constructing composite structures is essential to improve the CO_2 sorption characteristics,mainly recyclability, at elevated temperatures. The developed promoter integrated sorbents showed exceptionally high CO_2 sorption capacity of > 30 wt.% at an elevated temperature(300°C) with pronounced stability under temperature swing operation.

The mechanism regulating proteasomal activity under proteotoxic stress conditions remains ***,we showed that arsenite-induced proteotoxic stress resulted in upregulation of Arabidopsis homologous PUB22 and PUB23 U-boxE3 ubiquitin ligases and that pub22 pub23 double mutants displayed arsenite-insensitive seed germination and root growth ***22/PUB23 downregulated 26 S proteasome activity by promoting the dissociation of the 19 S regulatory particle from the holo-proteasome complex,resulting in intracellular accumulation of UbG76 VGFP,an artificial substrate of the proteasome complex,and insoluble poly-ubiquitinated *** results suggest that PUB22/PUB23 play a critical role in arsenite-induced proteotoxic stress response via negative regulation of 26 S proteasome integrity.

Effect of an Artificial Caudal Fin on the Performance of a Biomimetic Fish Robot Propelled by Piezoelectric Actuators

This paper addresses the design of a biomimetic fish robot actuated by piezoeeramic actuators and the effect of artificial caudal fins on the fish robot＇s performance. The limited bending displacement produced by a lightweight piezocomposite actuator was amplified and transformed into a large tail beat motion by means of a linkage system. Caudal fins that mimic the shape of a mackerel fin were fabricated for the purpose of examining the effect of caudal fm characteristics on thrust production at an operating frequency range. The thickness distribution of a real mackerel＇s fin was measured and used to design artificial caudal fins. The thrust performance of the biomimetic fish robot propelled by fins of various thicknesses was examined in terms of the Strouhal number, the Froude number, the Reynolds number, and the power consumption. For the same fm area and aspect ratio, an artificial caudal fin with a distributed thickness shows the best forward speed and the least power consumption.

As the scaling down of Si devices in the range less than few nm has been expedited up to a physical limit of Si,low dimensional materials have been regarded as one of next generation *** a variety of applications,studies on photodetectors have been actively investigated with their novel optical properties as well as astonishing electrical ***,most of research has focused on single device-type photodetector(i.e.,photo-diode or photo-transistor).Contrary to common photodetector,light-to-frequency circuits(LFCs)are based on frequency reading with photosensitive ring oscillators,which has better noise immunity and reduced system complexity,thus,can be utilized to novel application even in internet of things(loT)and bio&medical *** this review,low dimensional materials based circuit level photodetectors,which are core elements as the form of either inverters or ring oscillators for demonstration of LFCs,are *** with the introduction of low dimensional materials and their optical properties for optoelectronics,a fundamental concept for LFCs is specifically ***,research progress on low dimensional material based photosensitive inverters is addressed according to the types of ***,as one of practical method for the improvement of photodetector performance,molecular doping technology is ***,complete system of LFCs and its digitization for demonstration of production level,and potential application in the respective four aspects,(i)medical SpO_(2) detection,(ii)biological fluidic system,(iii)auto-lighting in agriculture,and(iv)optical feedback and sensing systems,are presented as systematic way to address the envisioned practical applications for the future displays including virtual reality and augmented reality,and *** a remark,LFCs based on low dimensional semiconductors are expected to be one of core components in trillion’s sensor area.

This study identifies the spatial charactenstics and relationships of each used space according to the multiplex type. In this study, multiplexes are classified according to screen rooms and circulation systems, and each used space is quantitatively analyzed. The multiplex type based on screen rooms and moving line systems influences the relationship and characteristics of each used space in various ways. In particular, the structure of the used space of multiplexes has a significant effect on orofit generation and audience convenience.

Although friction characteristics of fault gouge are important to understand reactivation of fault,behavior of earthquake,and mechanism of slope failure,analysis results of fault gouge have low accuracy mostly than those of soils or rocks due to its high heterogeneity and low ***,to improve the accuracy of analysis results,we conducted simple regression analysis and structural equation model analysis and selected major influential factors of friction characteristics among many factors,and then we deduced advanced regression model with the highest coefficient of determination(R^(2)) via multiple regression *** most coefficients of determination in simple regression analysis are below0.3-0.4,coefficient of determination in multiple regression analysis is remarkably large as 0.657.

Perovskite oxides like S rTiO_(3) at the nanoscale are of interest for eme rging applications,including high-k dielectrics and ***,their synthesis requires long calcination at the elevated temperature,which is a barrier of their application to flexible ***,an effective laser-assisted sol-gel method to patternably produce S rTiO_(3) na noparticles(-100 nm)in selective areas on polyimide substrates(coated with ITO)is ***,the violet-laser power is just 1 W but sufficient to crystallize the material in a short period(a few seconds).Furthermore,developing a flexible device platform using carbon nanotubes(CNT)and SrTiO_(3) nanoparticles for detection of humidity changes at room temperature is *** sensor platform has both capacitive and resistive sensing *** resistive mode with a lower power usage(about 0.2μW)is suitable for long monitoring of humidity in the range of2%RH and *** capacitive mode with higher sensitivity,faster response/recovery time(1-3 min),and lower detection limit(0.5%RH)can be used for calibration *** performance of the flexible sensor is still maintained after 5000 bending cycles at 1.5-cm ***,our synthesis method and the flexible sensor show chances for mass-producing perovskite oxides at low cost for wearable electronics.

A significant portion of the world＇s population does not have access to safe drinking water. This problem is most acute in remote, resource-constrained rural settings in developing countries. Water filtration using activated carbon is one of the important steps in treating con- taminated water. Lignocellulosic biomass is generally available in abundance in such locations, such as the African rain forests. Our work is focused on developing a simple method to synthesize activated biochar from locally available materials. The preparation of activated biochar with diammonium hydrogenphosphate （DAP） as the activating agent is explored under N2 flow and air. The study, carried out with cellulose as a model biomass, provides some insight into the interaction between DAP and biomass, as well as the char forming mechanism. Various characterization techniques such as N2 physisorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy are utilized to compare the properties between biochar formed under nitrogen and partial oxidative conditions. At a temperature of 450 ℃, the loading of DAP over cellulose is systematically varied, and its effect on activation is examined. The activated biochar samples are predominantly microporous in the range of concentrations studied. The interaction of DAP with cellulose is investigated and the nature of bonding of the heteroatoms to the carbonaceous matrix is elucidated. The results indicate that the quality of biochar prepared under partial oxidation condition is comparable to that ofbiochar prepared under nitrogen, leading to the possibility of an activated biochar production scheme on a small scale in resource-constrained settings.
