Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)are a leading factor driving mortality ***,an essential trace mineral,is important in numerous biological processes,and its role in CVDs has raised broad discussion for ***-mediated cell death,namely ferroptosis,has attracted much attention due to its critical role in cardiomyocyte damage and ***,ferritinophagy is the upstream mechanism that induces ferroptosis,and is closely related to *** review aims to delineate the processes and mechanisms of ferroptosis and ferritinophagy,and the regulatory pathways and molecular targets involved in ferritinophagy,and to determine their roles in ***,we discuss the possibility of targeting ferritinophagy-induced ferroptosis modulators for treating ***,this review offers some new insights into the pathology of CVDs and identifies possible therapeutic targets.

Effect of high mobility group box-1 protein on immune cells and its regulatory mechanism

High mobility group box-1 protein(HMGB1),which is a nuclear protein,participates in chromatin architecture and transcriptional *** released from cells,HMGB1 also plays a well-established role as a pro-inflammatory mediator during innate immune responses to *** the initial stage of injury,there is a release of large quantities of early pro-inflammatory mediators to initiate or perpetuate immune responses against pathogens,but this pro-inflammatory period is transient,and it is followed by a prolonged period of immune *** present,several lines of evidences have suggested that HMGB1 is a late cytokine provoking delayed endotoxin morbidity,which may enhance the production of early proinflammatory mediators,and it can contribute potently to the activation of different immune cells and play a role in the development of host cell-mediated *** biology of HMGB1 has been extensively studied as a pro-inflammatory cytokine of systemic inflammation,however,this review will attempt to provide a summary of the effects of HMGB1 on different immune cells and its regulatory mechanism in acute insults.

Viral encephalitis continues to be a significant public health *** our previous study,we discovered a lower expression of antiviral factors,such as IFN-β,STING and IFI16,in the brain tissues of patients with Rasmussen's encephalitis(RE),a rare chronic neurological disorder often occurred in children,characterized by unihemispheric brain ***,a higher cumulative viral score of human herpes viruses(HHVs)was also found to have a significant positive correlation with the unihemispheric atrophy in *** I IFNs(IFN-I)signaling is essential for innate anti-infection response by binding to IFN-α/βreceptor(IFNAR).In this study,we infected WT mice and IFNAR-deficient A6 mice with herpes simplex virus 1(HSV-1)via periocular injection to investigate the relationship between IFN-I signaling and HHVs-induced brain *** all mice exhibited typical viral encephalitis lesions in their brains,HSV-induced epilepsy was only observed in A6 *** gene expression matrix,functional enrichment analysis and protein-protein interaction network revealed four gene models that were positively related with HSV-induced ***,ten key genes with the highest scores were *** together,these findings indicate that intact IFN-I signaling can effectively limit HHVs induced neural symptoms and brain lesions,thereby confirming the positive correlation between IFN-I signaling repression and brain atrophy in RE and other HHVs encephalitis.

Effectiveness of intravitreal ranibizumab for diabetic macular edema in vitrectomized versus non-vitrectomized eyes:a Meta-analysis

AIM:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of intravitreal ranibizumab(IVR)for diabetic macular edema(DME)in vitrectomized versus non-vitrectomized ***:The PubMed,EMBASE,Web of Science,Cochrane,EBSCO were comprehensively searched for studies comparing vitrectomized and non-vitrectomized eyes with *** outcomes of best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central macular thickness(CMT),the mean number of intravitreal injection and adverse events were extracted and ***:Six studies involving 641 eyes were *** visual gain significantly improved and CMT significantly reduced in vitrectomized eyes at 6mo and 12mo visits(P<0.05).Although the mean reduction in CMT among non-vitrectomized eyes was significantly greater than in vitrectomized eyes at the 6mo[mean difference(MD)=53.57,95%confidence interval(CI):28.03 to 78.72,P<0.0001]and 12mo(MD=49.65,95%CI:19.58 to 79.72,P=0.01),no significant difference was detected in improvement in BCVA at either 6mo(MD=0.05,95%CI:-0.02 to 0.13,P=0.14)or 12mo(MD=0.03,95%CI:-0.04 to 0.09,P=0.43).Injection number of ranibizumab in non-vitrectomized eyes was significantly less than that in vitrectomized eyes during 6-month period(MD=0.60,95%CI:0.16 to 1.04,P=0.008),while there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups during 12mo of ***:Evidence from current study suggests that IVR was useful for both vitrectomized group and nonvitrectomized group with *** less reduction in macular thickness is found in vitrectomized group,visual improvement between two groups is similar.

Building a domain-specific compiler for emerging processors with a reusable approach

High-performance computing and deep learning domains have been motivating the design of domain-specific *** these processors can provide promising computation capability,they are notorious for exotic programming *** improve programming productivity and fully exploit the performance potential of these processors,domain-specific compilers(DSCs) have been ***,building DSCs for emerging processors requires tremendous engineering efforts because the commonly used compilation stack is difficult to be *** to the advent of multilevel intermediate representation(MLIR),DSC developers can leverage reusable infrastructure to extend their customized functionalities without rebuilding the entire compilation *** this paper,we further demonstrate the effectiveness of MLIR by extending its reusable infrastructure to embrace a heterogeneous many-core processor(Sunway processor).In particular,we design a new Sunway dialect and corresponding backend for the Sunway processor,fully exploiting its architectural advantage and hiding its programming *** show the ease of building a DSC,we leverage the Sunway dialect and existing MLIR dialects to build a stencil compiler for the Sunway *** experimental results show that our stencil compiler,built with a reusable approach,can even perform better than state-of-the-art stencil compilers.

Gene therapy for monogenic disorders: challenges, strategies, and perspectives

Monogenic disorders refer to a group of human diseases caused by mutations in single genes. While disease-modifying therapies have offered some relief from symptoms and delayed progression for some monogenic diseases, most of these diseases still lack effective treatments. In recent decades, gene therapy has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for genetic disorders. Researchers have developed various gene manipulation tools and gene delivery systems to treat monogenic diseases. Despite this progress, concerns about inefficient delivery, persistent expression, immunogenicity, toxicity, capacity limitation, genomic integration, and limited tissue specificity still need to be addressed. This review gives an overview of commonly used gene therapy and delivery tools, along with the challenges they face and potential strategies to counter them.

The alloy-type material Sb is widely used in the anode materials of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)due to its high theoretical specific ***,its serious volume expansion problem during alloying/dealloying of Li~+limits its practical *** this work,C-Sb composite was constructed as anode material of LIBs by electrospinning route for the first time,Sb was introduced into the polyacrylonitrile-based hard carbon and coal tar pitch-based soft carbon composite amorphous carbon fiber with a diameter of 300-600 nm,which realized high cycling *** C-Sb-2(the mass ratio of polyacrylonitrile to Sb source is 1:2)electrode displayed charge capacities of 1098.5,930.3,841.7,753.5,643.9 and 545.8 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.5,1 and 2 A·g^(-1),*** when the current density returned to 0.1 A·g^(-1),the charge capacity was 939.3 mAh·g^(-1),revealing good stability and *** introduction of Sb into the amorphous carbon improved its conductivity and addressed the volume expansion issue of high specific capacity Sb during charge/***-situ XRD analysis confirmed the high reversibility of the C-Sb-2 during charging and *** functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed the gradual enhancement of the interface interaction between Sb_(x)Li_(y) and amorphous carbon(AMC)with increasing lithium content,contributing to the anchoring of alloy nanoparticles on the AMC surface and buffering the volume change of the ***,the gradual lithiation of Sb facilitated the electron transfer from Sb_(x)Li_(y) to *** findings hold promise for designing lithium storage materials with exceptional performance,highlighting the potential of C-Sb composites as anode materials for efficient next-generation lithium storage.

Effects of rare earth elements on inclusions, microstructure and impact toughness of spring steel

Spring steel is an indispensable basic part manufacturing material in mechanical equipment,which is widely used in transportation tools such as automobiles,railways,construction machinery and other *** effects of rare earth(RE)on inclusions,microstructure,carbides and impact toughness of 50CrV spring steel were studied by means of optical microscope,scanning electron microscope,transmission electron microscope and impact *** results show that the addition of rare earth can modify the main MnS and Al_(2)O_(3) inclusions in steel to form spherical or near-spherical rare earth inclusions,and the size of inclusions is significantly *** the quenched structure,the size of martensite slab becomes smaller and the structure is *** tempering,the carbide changes from sheet to ellipse,which makes it easier for spring steel to form stress concentration cracks under *** becomes finer and more dispersed,which leads to better pinning of grain boundaries and smaller grain *** impact toughness of 50CrV-RE spring steel increased from 21 to 41 J by 95%due to the improvement of inclusions,microstructure and carbides by rare *** is possible to improve the strength and toughness of spring steel for the improvement of railway running speed and the development of vehicle lightweight in China.

Litter quality and decomposer complexity co-drive effect of drought on decomposition

Litter decomposition is key to ecosystem carbon(C)and nutrient cycling,but this process is anticipated to weaken due to projected more extensive and prolonged *** how litter quality and decomposer community complexity regulate decomposition in response to drought is less ***,in a five-year manipulative drought experiment in a Masson pine forest,leaf litter from four subtropical tree species(Quercus griffthii Hook.f.&Thomson ex Miq.,Acacia mangium Willd.,Pinus massoniana Lamb.,Castanopsis hystrix Miq.)representing different qualities was decomposed for 350 d in litterbags of three different mesh sizes(i.e.,0.05,1,and 5 mm),respectively,under natural conditions and a 50%throughfall rain exclusion *** of increasing mesh sizes discriminate decomposer communities(i.e.,microorganisms,microorganisms and mesofauna,microorganisms and meso-and macrofauna)that access the litter and represent an increasing *** amount of litter C and nitrogen(N)loss,and changes in their ratio(C/N_(loss)),as well as small and medium-sized decomposers including microorganisms,nematodes,and arthropods,were *** found that drought did not affect C and N loss but decreased C/N_(loss)(i.e.,decomposer N use efficiency)of leaf litter irrespective of litter quality and decomposer ***,changes in the C/N_(loss)and the drought effect on C loss were both dependent on litter quality,while drought and decomposer complexity interactively affected litter C and N *** decomposer community complexity enhanced litter decomposition and allowing additional access of meso-and macro-fauna to litterbags mitigated the negative drought effect on the microbial-driven ***,both the increased diversity and altered trophic structure of nematode due to drought contributed to the mitigation effects via cascading *** results show that litter quality and soil decomposer community complexity co-drive the effect of

Electrochemical Analysis of Single Glucose Oxidase with a Nanopipette

Nanopore-based electrochemical technique is a promising tool for detecting single ***,detecting single proteins using a nanopipette in their native state without labeling is challenging due to the rapid translocation,which results in an inefficient signal *** our study,we finely tuned the driving force equilibrium between electrophoretic force(EPF)and electroosmotic flow(EOF)inside the nanopipette for efficient sensing of single glucose oxidase(GOD)*** duration time of GOD within the nanopipette is extended to about 4 *** strategy provided clear ionic current signals with a signal-to-noise ratio of *** EPF increased in the direction opposite to the motion of GOD,we observed a nonlinear growth in GOD’s duration *** extended the duration to about 4.4 times longer at−1000 mV compared to at−800 ***,nanopore-based electrochemical sensing could be used for single GOD molecule analysis as an ultrasensitive method.
