Recent Advance in Synaptic Plasticity Modulation Techniques for Neuromorphic Applications

Manipulating the expression of synaptic plasticity of neuromorphic devices provides fascinating opportunities to develop hardware platforms for artifi-cial ***,great efforts have been devoted to exploring biomimetic mechanisms of plasticity simulation in the last few *** progress in various plasticity modulation techniques has pushed the research of synaptic electronics from static plasticity simulation to dynamic plasticity modulation,improving the accuracy of neuromorphic computing and providing strategies for implementing neuromorphic sensing ***,several fascinating strategies for synap-tic plasticity modulation through chemical techniques,device structure design,and physical signal sensing are *** chemical techniques,the underly-ing mechanisms for the modification of functional materials were clarified and its effect on the expression of synaptic plasticity was also *** on device structure design,the reconfigurable operation of neuromorphic devices was well demonstrated to achieve programmable neuromorphic ***,integrating the sensory units with neuromorphic processing circuits paved a new way to achieve human-like intelligent perception under the modulation of physical signals such as light,strain,and ***,considering that the relevant technology is still in the basic exploration stage,some prospects or development suggestions are put forward to promote the development of neuromorphic devices.

Assessment of tomographic window and sampling rate efects on GNSS water vapor tomography

The ground-based Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)water vapor tomography is increasingly important in GNSS *** the multi-GNSS and more ground-based GNSS sites can be incorporated into the regional water vapor tomographic model,determining the tomographic window and sampling rate is crucial for the modelling of the water vapor *** two factors afect not only the number of available signal rays from the satellites,but also the number of tomographic voxels crossed by the signal *** study uses Hong Kong as the research area to explore the impact of 12 schemes with diferent tomographic window and sampling rate on the three water vapor tomography methods,including Least squares,Kalman fltering,and Multiplicative Algebraic Reconstruction Technique(MART).Numerical results show that the tomographic results with the three methods get better as the width of the tomographic window decreases and the sampling rate increases in these 12 schemes,and it is found that the Least squares method is most afected by the two factors,followed by Kalman fltering and MART *** is recommended to set a tomographic window width of 10 min and a sampling rate of 300 s in a GNSS water vapor tomographic experiment with dense GNSS site like Hong Kong.

High-performance heterogeneous complementary inverters based on n-channel MoS2 and p-channel SWCNT transistors

Heterogeneous complementary inverters composed of bi-layer molybdenum disulfide （MoS2） and single-walled carbon-nanotube （SWCNT） networks are designed, and n-type MoS2/p-type SWCNT inverters are fabricated with a backgated structure. Field-effect transistors （FETs） based on the MoS2 and SWCNT networks show high electrical performance with large ON/OFF ratios up to 106 and 105 for MoS2 and SWCNT, respectively. The MoS2/SWCNT complementary inverters exhibit Vin-Vout signal matching and achieve excellent performances with a high peak voltage gain of 15, a low static-power consumption of a few nanowatts, and a high noise margin of 0.45VDD, which are suitable for future logic-circuit applications. The inverter performances are affected by the channel width-to-length ratios （W/L） of the MOSR-FETs and SWCNT-FETs. Therefore, W/L should be optimized to achieve a tradeoff between the gain and the power consumption.

The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated global tourism and recovery is proceeding very *** many countries,tourism served as a major economic sector,so investigating how to recover is *** China was the largest source of outbound travelers before the outbreak,study of the factors influencing Chinese intentions to travel overseas in the post-COVID era is *** Apr.2022,among seven provinces(or cities)with the most outbound tourists from 2019 to 2021,2450 individuals responded to a questionnaire on daily mobility,tourism experiences,and the shifts due to the *** gradient boosting machine(LightGBM),a robust ensemble learning method,was adopted to quantify and visualize the impact of explanatory factors on outbound travel *** addition,the Optuna mechanism and Shapley additive explanation(SHAP)instruments were employed for tuning hyperparameters and interpreting results,*** suggest neither one-day nor multi-day tours have resumed to pre-COVID *** frequency of multi-day tours with further destinations,less car utilization in daily shopping trips,and moderate pandemic restrictions can boost the intention to travel *** concerns and desires of different age groups for overseas travel need different *** study reveals the factors affecting Chinese outbound travel intentions and provides suggestions for the recovery of tourism in the post-COVID period.

Lactobacillus plantarum J26 alleviates alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury by regulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway

Oxidative stress is one of the main ways to cause alcohol-induced liver injury,and alcoholic liver disease(ALD)has been a common health problem *** acid bacteria(LAB)is also considered as a potential treatment to alleviate alcohol-induced liver *** plantarum J26 is a LAB isolated from Chinese traditional fermented dairy products with excellent probiotic *** study aimed to establish a mice model of alcoholic liver injury through acute-on-chronic alcohol feeding and to study the alleviating effect of pre-intake of *** J26 on alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury and focus on its potential mechanism of alleviating *** results showed that pre-intake of *** J26 could improve liver pathological changes,reduce lipid accumulation,increase mitochondrial ATP and mitochondrial(mtDNA)levels,and alleviate liver *** addition,pre-intake *** J26 can improve the level of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)in the intestines in mice,short chain fatty acids can be used as a signaling molecule activation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)signaling pathway to alleviate liver oxidative stress,and maintain mitochondrial homeostasis by regulating the expression of genes related to mitochondrial dynamics and autophagy,thereby reducing cell apoptosis to alleviate alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury.

Heterostructured graphene quantum dot/WSe2/Si photo-detector with suppressed dark current and improved detectivity

A high-performance heterojunction photodetector is formed by combining an n-type Si substrate with p-type monolayer WSe2 obtained using physical vapor deposition. The high quality of the WSe2/Si heterojunction is demonstrated by the suppressed dark current of I nA and the extremely high rectification ratio of 107. Under illumination, the heterojunction exhibits a wide photoresponse range from ultraviolet to near-infrared radiation. The introduction of graphene quantum dots （GQDs） greatly elevates the photodetective capabilities of the heterojunction with strong light absorption and long carrier lifetimes. The GQDs/WSe2/Si heterojunction exhibits a high responsivity of -707 mA·W^-1, short response time of 0.2 ms, and good specific detectivity of -4.51×10^9 Jones. These properties suggest that the GQDs/WSe2/Si heterojunction holds great potential for application in future high- performance photodetectors.

Two-/three-dimensional(2D/3D)heterojunction-based photodetectors have attracted much attention due to their highly efficient photoelectric conversion driven by the built-in electric field for high-speed ***,a large dark current induced by unexpected surface states at the interface between 2D materials and 3D bulks is widely observed in such structures,greatly degrading their optoelectronic ***,a heterojunction of proton acid HCl treated MXene(H-MXene)/TiO_(2)/Si via integrating surface and interface engineering is fabricated,which exhibits decreased dark current and improved environmental stability.A feasible strategy to optimize the interface properties between MXene and Si is proposed by an in-situ oxidation process of MXene into TiO_(2),resulting in a suppressed dark current as well as high specific *** from the enhanced light absorption of MXene on the bulk Si substrate,the photoresponse of as-fabricated devices in the near-infrared region is also ***,the treatment of proton acid HCl on the surface of MXene brings better conductivity and environmental stability due to the decreased layer spacing of MXene,which is further confirmed by both experimental and theoretical *** work opens a unique way to comprehensively boost the optoelectronic performance of MXene-based photodetectors.

This study proposes a feasible and scalable production strategy to naturally obtain aligned platinum diselenide(PtSe_(2))nanoribbon arrays with anisotropic *** anisotropic properties of two-dimensional(2D)materials,especially transition-metal dichalcogenides(TMDs),have attracted great interest in *** dependence of physical properties on their lattice orientations is of particular interest because of its potential in diverse applications,such as nanoelectronics and ***-dimensional(1D)nanostructures facilitate many feasible production strategies for shaping 2D materials into unidirectional 1D nanostructures,providing methods to investigate the anisotropic properties of 2D materials based on their lattice orientations and *** natural alignment of zigzag(ZZ)PtSe_(2) nanoribbons is experimentally demonstrated using angle-resolved polarized Raman spectroscopy(ARPRS),and the selective growth mechanism is further theoretically revealed by comparing edges and edge energies of different orientations using the density functional theory(DFT).Back-gate field-effect transistors(FETs)are also constructed of unidirectional PtSe_(2) nanoribbons to investigate their anisotropic electrical properties,which align with the results of the projected density of states(DOS)*** work provides new insight into the anisotropic properties of 2D materials and a feasible investigation strategy from experimental and theoretical perspectives.

Programmable van-der-Waals heterostructure-enabled optoelectronic synaptic floating-gate transistors with ultra-low energy consumption

Van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures provide a unique opportunity to develop various electronic and optoelectronic devices with specific functions by designing novel device structures,especially for bioinspired neuromorphic optoelectronic devices,which require the integration of nonvolatile memory and excellent optical ***,we demonstrate a programmable optoelectronic synaptic floating-gate transistor based on multilayer graphene/h-BN/MoS2 vdW heterostructures,where both plasticity emulation and modulation were successfully realized in a single *** dynamic tunneling process of photogenerated carriers through the as-fabricated vdW heterostructures contributed to a large memory ratio(105)between program and erase *** device can work as a functional or silent synapse by applying a program/erase voltage spike as a modulatory signal to determine the response to light stimulation,leading to a programmable operation in optoelectronic synaptic ***,an ultra-low energy consumption per light spike event(~2.5 fJ)was obtained in the program state owing to a suppressed noise current by program operation in our floating-gate *** study proposes a feasible strategy to improve the functions of optoelectronic synaptic devices with ultra-low energy consumption based on vdW heterostructures designed for highly efficient artificial neural networks.

Multiferroic BiFeO_(3)(BFO)and Y,Zr codoped BFO(Bi_(1-x)Y_(x)Fe_(0.95)Zr_(0.05)O_(3)ceramics were prepared and the influence of codoping on the crystal structure and magnetic properties were investigated in this *** by the evolution of X-ray diffraction and Raman modes,the codoping has changed the crystal structure from rhombohedral to tetragonal in bulk BFO *** enhancement of magnetic behaviors is demonstrated by the damage of space-modulated spiral spin structure,and it can be attributed to the crystal structure change and size ***,Raman spectra from 300 to 800K demonstrates that lower frequency phonon modes show rapid softening near the Neel temperature.
