The time domain entombment of bacteria by intratubular mineralization following orthograde canal obturation with mineral trioxide aggregate（MTA） was studied by scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. Single-rooted human premolars（n560） were instrumented to an apical size #50/0.06 using ProF ile and treated as follows： Group 1（n510） was filled with phosphate buffered saline（PBS）; Group 2（n510） was incubated with Enterococcus faecalis for 3 weeks, and then filled with PBS; Group 3（n520） was obturated orthograde with a paste of OrthoM TA（BioM TA, Seoul, Korea） and PBS; and Group 4（n520） was incubated with E. faecalis for 3 weeks and then obturated with OrthoM TA–PBS paste. Following their treatments, the coronal openings were sealed with PBS-soaked cotton and intermediate restorative material（IRM）, and the roots were then stored in PBS for 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 weeks. After each incubation period, the roots were split and their dentin/MTA interfaces examined in both longitudinal and horizontal directions by SEM. There appeared to be an increase in intratubular mineralization over time in the OrthoM TA-filled roots（Groups 3 and 4）. Furthermore, there was a gradual entombment of bacteria within the dentinal tubules in the E. faecalis inoculated MTA-filled roots（Group 4）. Therefore, the orthograde obturation of root canals with OrthoM TA mixed with PBS may create a favorable environment for bacterial entombment by intratubular mineralization.

＜正＞ Attachment of leukocytes to the vascular endothelium and the subsequent migration of cells into the vessel wall are early events in atherogenesis. Expression of endothelial adhesion molecules play an important role in this process. In the present study, we tested the effect of Epigllocatechin-3-gallate （ EGCG） on proatherogenic agent, angiotensin Ⅱ （Ang Ⅱ）-induced expression of adhesion molecules in vascular endothelial cells. We showed that EGCG inhibits Ang Li-stimulated VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 expression in HUVECs. Inhibition of Ang Ⅱ-in-duced adhesion molecules expression was manifested already on the transcriptional level. EGCG pretreatment inhibited Ang Ⅱ-stimulated activation of p38 MAPK and ERK 1/2. while EGCG did not exert any significant changes in activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase （JNK）. In addition, a specific p38 MAPK inhibitor, SB202190 or ERK 1/2 inhibitor, PD98059, suppressed Ang Ⅱ-stimulated VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 expression. Conclusion: These results suggest that EGCG inhibits Ang Ⅱ-induced adhesion molecules expression, which is regulated by p38 MAPK and ERK 1/2 signaling pathways

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by elevated immunoglobulin E (IgE), mast cell infiltration and skin lesions including pruritus, erythema and eczema. Cudrania tricuspidata extracts have been clinically administered for a long time in the East Asia including Korean and China as a home-remedy to diminish the inflammation of gastritis and hepatitis. To examine whether it works on AD or not, an AD-like animal model was experimented in this study. AD was induced by applying Dermatophagoides farinae (D. farinae) extract to the backs of 9-week old NC/Nga mice for 21 days. Following this, an ethanol extract of C. tricuspidata stems (EECT) was applied topically for 14 days to the sensitized skin, while distilled water was used as a control (EECT0 mice). Anti-AD effects of EECT were evaluated using scores for AD-like skin lesions, serum IgE levels and mast cell counts in the skin dermal layers to assess inflammation. Topically applied ethanol extract of Cudrania tricuspidata stems (EECT 7.5, 25 and 75 mg/mL) markedly reduced AD-like skin lesions after 4 days (by 30.1%, 31.4% and 38.5%, respectively) and also after 14 days (by 63.6%, 66.1% and 49.6%, respectively), while distilled water improved AD by 17.8% and 38.7%, respectively (p D. farinae extract (p = 0.003) and EECT attenuated the mast cell overproduction, and reduced mast cell degranulation markedly. Attenuation was most obvious in the early stage of EECT treatment when the AD was most acute.

AIM： To investigate the effect of Garden/a fasm/noides （GJ） on cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis （AP） in mice. METHODS： C57BL/6 mice weighing 18-20 g were divided into three groups. （1） Normal salinetreated group, （2） treatment with GJ at a dose of 0.1 g/kg, （3） treatment with GJ at a dose of 1 g/kg. GJ was administered orally （n = 6 per group） for 1 wk. Three hours later, the mice were given anintraperitoneal injection of cerulein （50 μg/kg）, a stable cholecystokinin （CCK） analogue, every hour for a total of 6h as described previously. The mice were sacrificed at 6 h after completion of cerulein injections. Blood samples were obtained to determine serum amylase, lipase and cytokine levels. The pancreas was rapidly removed for morphologic examination and scoring. A portion of pancreas was stored at -70℃ and prepar.d for the measurement of tissue myeloperoxidase （MPO） activity, an indicator of neutrophil sequestration, and for reverse-transcriptase PCR （RT-PCR） and real-time PCR measurements. RESULTS： Treatment with G.1 decreased significantly the severity of pancreatitis and pancreatitis-associated lung injury. Treatment with G.1 attenuated the severity of AP compar.d with saline-treated mice, as shown by reduction in pancreatic edema, neutrophil infiltration, serum amylase and lipase levels, serum cytokine levels, and mRNA expression of multiple inflammatory mediators. CONCLUSION： These results suggest that GJ attenuated the severity of AP as well as pancreatitisassociated lung injury.

以中国省级行政单位为研究对象对与居民生活息息相关的住居领域内所产生的能源消费与CO2排放的地区间差异性进行研究,并在此基础上对产生这一差异性的影响因素进行了深入的分析。以人均碳排放量为因变量,分别从人口、社会和经济特征及区域环境特征两大方面出发选取了10个影响因素作为自变量构建了从2002—2011年10年间以全国28个省份为对象的4个均衡面板数据模型并进行了估计分析。从模型估计结果来看,个人属性以及家庭结构等都对住居领域的碳排放有着显著性的影响;城镇居民的人均住宅建筑面积越大其碳排放量就越高。基于此,研究认为在制定有关节能减排措施时,要充分考虑到个人属性、家庭结构等人口和社会经济性因素以及住宅类型、城市形态等区域环境因素所带来的影响,根据各个地区不同的经济发展水平和实际情况因地制宜地制定和实施节能减排政策。

AIM: To investigate whether children with congenital common bile duct dilatation(CBDD) differ from children with obstructive CBDD in cholangiographic ***: In this retrospective cohort study, the baseline data and the results of imaging analyses were reviewed among children who had endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) due to CBDD. ERCP was performed on all pediatric patients by experienced pediatric endoscopists. The maximal transverse diameter of the common bile duct(CBD) was measured on ERCP. To assess whether ageadjusted CBDD could be used for differential diagnosis, a CBDD severity index(SI) was calculated by dividing the measured CBD diameter by the age-corrected maximal diameter of a normal CBD. RESULTS: A retrospective medical chart review revealed that 85 consecutive children under 16 years of age with hepatobiliary disease and CBDD were referred to Seoul Asan Medical Center. Fiftyfive(64.7%) children had congenital CBDD and 30(35.3%) had obstructive CBDD. The two groups did not differ significantly in terms of clinical characteristics except for sex. The congenital and obstructive CBDD groups did not differ significantly in terms of mean CBD diameter(19.3 ± 9.6 mm vs 12.2 ± 4.1 mm, P > 0.05). However, congenital CBDD cases had a significantly higher mean SI than obstructive CBDD cases(3.62 ± 1.64 vs 1.98 ± 0.71, P = 0.01). In multivariate analysis, an SI value ≥ 2.32 and comorbidity with anomalous union of pancreaticobiliary duct(APBDU) in ERCP independently predicted congenital ***: Measuring the CBD may aid the differential diagnosis of both CBDD and APBDU in children.

Objective: To investigate the current usage of terminologies related to acupotomy through systematic search and analyze the pros and cons of each for proposing a standard terminology. Methods: Seven medical journal databases were searched including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System, KoreaMed, and Korean studies Information Service System using 10 candidate terminologies as searching terms. All studies published from their inception to July 26, 2017 were collected. Articles were included if the title stated one of the 10 candidate terminologies consistent with the definition of acupotomy. Priorly established frequency and consistency of each candidate terminology from medical databases were calculated and evaluated. Moreover, the pros and cons of each were analyzed to propose a standard terminology. Results: A total of 112 studies in English databases, 1,129 studies in Chinese database, and 44 studies in Korean databases were included. The most frequently used terminologies were needle knife(35.71%), acupotomy(48.54%) and acupotomy(90.90%) in English, Chinese and Korean database, respectively. Overall, acupotomy and needle knife were the most frequently used. Others like acupotomology, needle scalpel, miniscalpel acupuncture and miniscalpel needle were used within 10% of the total searched literature. Acupotome, stiletto needle, sword like needle, and Xiaozhendao were rarely used. Acupotomy had the advantages of high frequency and consistency but lacked representativeness. Needle knife also showed a high frequency, but the consistency was poor. Though miniscalpel acupuncture and miniscule needle were used less frequently, they had advantages of inclusiveness and clarity. Conclusions: A debate for standardization of the terminology is necessary. This preliminary research can provide a basic outline for the standardization consensus process, and
