Influence of sea-land breeze on the formation and dissipation of severe dense fog and its burst reinforcement in the yellow Sea coastal area,China

Based on the global reanalysis data of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction(NCEP)/National Center for Atmospheric Research,the surface meteorological observation data,sounding data and satellite observation data,this paper comprehensively analyzes the evolution process and formation mechanism of a persistent severe dense fog process occurred on February 15–17,2015 in Yancheng,eastern China.Through the numerical simulation experiment of Weather Research and Forecast(WRF)model,we further analyze the impact of sea-land breeze on the formation and burst reinforcement of fog.Results show that the precipitation caused by the southwesterly airflow in front of the upper-level trough and the low-pressure inverted trough are conducive to the formation of early rain fog,while the nighttime clear radiance under the control of surface cold high and the infiltration of weak cold advection are conducive to the formation and development of later radiation-advection fog.The WRF model simulates the fog evolution process,which is basically consistent with the actual fog area,and the simulation results are credible to a certain extent.The simulation results show that the establishment of sea breeze has an advection cooling effect on the near surface layer,which is conducive to the formation and development of the inversion layer on the near surface,providing stable stratification conditions for the formation and burst reinforcement of fog.On one hand,the strengthening of sea breeze circulation can continuously transport water vapor to the study area.On the other,the occurrence of ultra-low level jet is favorable for the accumulation of low-level water vapor.At the same time,the inversion intensity further strengthens,which is in favor of the burst reinforcement and long-term maintenance of fog.

Ferroptosis is a novel form of regulated cell death characterized by iron-dependent excessive lipid peroxidation.The core organelle involved in ferroptosis is mitochondria.Mito-chondria undergoing ferroptosis are distinct from normal mitochondria in terms of morphology,biochemistry,gene expression,and energy metabolism.An increasing number of studies have shown that mitochondria and their associated metabolic pathways mediate ferroptosis in the development and progression of breast cancer.In this review,we discuss the relevant research about ferroptosis in breast cancer and provide a comprehensive summary of mitochondrial regulation in ferroptosis from the perspective of lipid metabolism,oxidative phosphorylation,ion metabolism,glycometabolism,and nucleotide metabolism.We also summarize the appli-cation of mitochondrial metabolism-related pathways as ferroptosis treatment targets.Here we provide new insights into the relationship between mitochondria,ferroptosis,and breast cancertreatment.

Transmucosal drug administration represents a potential strategy for enhancing treatment efficacy and reducing side effects by avoiding the first-pass effect into the systemic circulation and delivering therapeutics directly to the target disease site.However,many challenges still remain in its clinical application,including low drug availability and limited retention time in the mucosa.The burgeoning advancement of nanotechnologies offers great potential to overcome the above limitations,leveraging their distinct advantages of high drug-loading capacity and strong permeability.In this review,the latest developments of nanoparticles(NPs)in transmucosal drug delivery as well as their clinical applications are discussed.

Vibration Suppression for Active Magnetic Bearings Using Adaptive Filter with Iterative Search Algorithm

Active Magnetic Bearing(AMB) is a kind of electromagnetic support that makes the rotor movement frictionless and can suppress rotor vibration by controlling the magnetic force. The most common approach to restrain the rotor vibration in AMBs is to adopt a notch filter or adaptive filter in the AMB controller. However, these methods cannot obtain the precise amplitude and phase of the compensation current. Thus, they are not so effective in terms of suppressing the vibrations of the fundamental and other harmonic orders over the whole speed range. To improve the vibration suppression performance of AMBs,an adaptive filter based on Least Mean Square(LMS) is applied to extract the vibration signals from the rotor displacement signal. An Iterative Search Algorithm(ISA) is proposed in this paper to obtain the corresponding relationship between the compensation current and vibration signals. The ISA is responsible for searching the compensating amplitude and shifting phase online for the LMS filter, enabling the AMB controller to generate the corresponding compensation force for vibration suppression. The results of ISA are recorded to suppress vibration using the Look-Up Table(LUT) in variable speed range. Comprehensive simulations and experimental validations are carried out in fixed and variable speed range, and the results demonstrate that by employing the ISA, vibrations of the fundamental and other harmonic orders are suppressed effectively.

High temperature treatment induced production of unreduced 2n pollen in Camellia oleifera

Unreduced gametes through chromosome doubling play a major role in the process of plant polyploidization.Our previous work confirmed that Camellia oleifera can produce natural 2n pollen,and it is possible to induce the 2n pollen formation by high temperature treatment.This study focused on the optimization of the 2n pollen induction technique and the mechanisms of high temperature-induced2n pollen formation in C.oleifera.We found that the optimal protocol for inducing 2n pollen via high temperature was to perform 45℃with4 h at the prophaseⅠstage of the pollen mother cells(PMCs).Meanwhile,high temperature significantly decreased the yield and fertility of2n pollen.Through the observation of meiosis,abnormal chromosome and cytological behaviour was discovered under high-temperature treatment,and we confirmed that the formation of 2n pollen is caused by abnormal cell plate.Based on weighted gene co-expression network analysis,fifteen hub genes related to cell cycle control were identified.After male flower buds were exposed to heat shock,polygalacturonase gene(CoPGX3)was significantly upregulated.We inferred that high temperature causes the CoPGX3 gene to be overexpressed and that CoPGX3 is redistributed into the cytosol where it degrades cytoplasmic pectin,which leads to an abnormal cell plate.Furthermore,abnormal cytokinesis resulted in the formation of dyads and triads,and PMCs divided to produce 2n pollen.Our findings provide new insights into the mechanism of 2n pollen induced by high temperature in a woody plant and lay a foundation for further ploidy breeding of C.oleifera.

Stripping of aggregate from mortar in waste concrete heated by microwave: Mechanisms of differential-temperature stress and vapor expansion pressure

Microwave heating, which is used for pre-treatment of concrete before it is comminuted,stands as a strong candidate for selective liberation of multiphase materials like concrete.This paper is concerned with the selective liberation of concrete's raw constituents(particularly aggregate) for recycling by considering the water content of concrete as a parameter of microwave heating for the first time. The deterioration law of the concrete's performance was characterized by the variation in the splitting tensile strength and relative dynamic modulus after heating by microwave at different water contents. Besides,tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of the interface transition zone(ITZ)between aggregate and mortar as well as to investigate the reasons for the stripping behavior of aggregate-mortar, which included the interface tensile strength test, temperature measurement, and porosity test. The deterioration law of splitting tensile strength and relative dynamic modulus revealed that the performance of concrete was subject to different degrees of damage depending on the water content. Furthermore, experimental results showed that interface bonding strength between aggregate and mortar was dramatically impaired, and a large temperature difference was generated between the aggregate and mortar during microwave heating. Meanwhile, the permeable pores increased considerably even when the specimens were dried. In the presence of water, the intactness of ITZ between aggregate and mortar was destroyed by microwave heating, and its performance was significantly lowered, which led to the occurrence of stripping behavior between aggregate and mortar. This was reaffirmed by the microstructure presented by scanning electron microscopy. Thus, the newly developed microwave pretreatment improved by providing appropriate water contents for concrete corresponding to different strength grades is a promising method for recycling aggregate from waste concrete.

SIRT1 inhibits apoptosis of human lens epithelial cells through suppressing endoplasmic reticulum stress in vitro and in vivo

AIM:To explore the effect of silent information regulator factor 2-related enzyme 1(SIRT1)on modulating apoptosis of human lens epithelial cells(HLECs)and alleviating lens opacification of rats through suppressing endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress.METHODS:HLECs(SRA01/04)were treated with varying concentrations of tunicamycin(TM)for 24h,and the expression of SIRT1 and C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP)was assessed using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),Western blotting,and immunofluorescence.Cell morphology and proliferation was evaluated using an inverted microscope and cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay,respectively.In the SRA01/04 cell apoptosis model,which underwent siRNA transfection for SIRT1 knockdown and SRT1720 treatment for its activation,the expression levels of SIRT1,CHOP,glucose regulated protein 78(GRP78),and activating transcription factor 4(ATF4)were examined.The potential reversal of SIRT1 knockdown effects by 4-phenyl butyric acid(4-PBA;an ER stress inhibitor)was investigated.In vivo,age-related cataract(ARC)rat models were induced by sodium selenite injection,and the protective role of SIRT1,activated by SRT1720 intraperitoneal injections,was evaluated through morphology observation,hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)staining,Western blotting,and RT-PCR.RESULTS:SIRT1 expression was downregulated in TMinduced SRA01/04 cells.Besides,in SRA01/04 cells,both cell apoptosis and CHOP expression increased with the rising doses of TM.ER stress was stimulated by TM,as evidenced by the increased GRP78 and ATF4 in the SRA01/04 cell apoptosis model.Inhibition of SIRT1 by siRNA knockdown increased ER stress activation,whereas SRT1720 treatment had opposite results.4-PBA partly reverse the adverse effect of SIRT1 knockdown on apoptosis.In vivo,SRT1720 attenuated the lens opacification and weakened the ER stress activation in ARC rat models.CONCLUSION:SIRT1 plays a protective role against TM-induced apoptosis in HLECs and slows the progression of cataract in rats by inhibiting ER stress.These findings sug

CsABF3-activated CsSUT1 pathway is implicated in pre-harvest water deficit inducing sucrose accumulation in citrus fruit

Pre-harvest water deficit(PHWD)plays an important role in sugar accumulation of citrus fruit.However,the mechanism is not known well.Here,it was confirmed that PHWD promoted sucrose accumulation of citrus fruit,but had limited effect on fructose,glucose and total acid.A sucrose transporter,Cs SUT1,which localizes to the plasma membrane,was demonstrated to function in sucrose transport induced by PHWD.Compared to wild-type,Cs SUT1 overexpression in citrus calli stimulated sucrose,fructose and glucose accumulation,while its silencing in juice sacs reduced sucrose accumulation.Increased sugar accumulation in transgenic lines enhanced plant drought tolerance,and resulted in decreased electrolyte leakage,malondialdehyde and hydrogen peroxide contents,as well as increased superoxide dismutase activity and proline contents.An abscisic acid(ABA)-responsive transcription factor,Cs ABF3,was found with a same expression pattern with Cs SUT1 under PHWD.yeast one-hybrid,electrophoretic mobility shift assay and dual-luciferase assays all revealed that Cs ABF3 directly bound with the Cs SUT1 promoter by ABA responsive elements.When Cs ABF3 was overexpressed in citrus calli,the sucrose,fructose and glucose concentration increased correspondingly.Further,transgenic studies demonstrated that Cs ABF3 could affect sucrose accumulation by regulating Cs SUT1.Overall,this study revealed a regulation of Cs ABF3 promoting Cs SUT1 expression and sucrose accumulation in response to PHWD.Our results provide a detail insight into the quality formation of citrus fruit.

BACKGROUND Developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH)is a common osteoarticular deformity in pediatric orthopedics.A patient with bilateral DDH was diagnosed and treated using our improved technique"(powerful overturning acetabuloplasty)"combined with femoral rotational shortening osteotomy.CASE SUMMARY A 4-year-old girl who was diagnosed with bilateral DDH could not stand normally,and sought surgical treatment to solve the problem of double hip extension and standing.As this child had high dislocation of the hip joint and the acetabular index was high,we changed the traditional acetabuloplasty to"powerful turnover acetabuloplasty"combined with femoral rotation shortening osteotomy.During the short-term postoperative follow-up(1,3,6,9,12,and 15 months),the child had no discomfort in her lower limbs.After the braces and internal fixation plates were removed,formal rehabilitation training was actively carried out.CONCLUSION Our"powerful overturning acetabuloplasty"combined with femoral rotational shortening osteotomy is feasible in the treatment of DDH in children.This technology may be widely used in the clinic.

Anti-inflammatory germacrane-type sesquiterpene lactones from Vernonia sylvatica

Nine new germacranolides,sylvaticalides A−H(1-9),and three known analogues(10-12)were isolated from the aeri-al part of Vernonia sylvatica.Their structures were established using comprehensive spectroscopic analysis,including high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy(HR-ESI-MS)and 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectra.Their absolute configurations were determined by X-ray diffraction experiments.The anti-inflammatory activities of all isolated compounds were as-sessed by evaluating their inhibitory effects on the nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)pathway,which was activated by lipopolysacchar-ide(LPS)-stimulated human THP1-Dual cells,and the interferon-stimulated gene(ISG)pathway,activated by STING agonist MSA-2 in the same cell model.Compounds 1,2 and 6 showed inhibitory effects on the NF-κB and ISG signaling pathways,with IC_(50)values ranging from 4.12 to 10.57μmol·L^(−1).
