Bac.ground: Head and nec. c.l.ul.tis of dental.origin are pol.mic.obial.bac.erial.infec.ions invol.ing the c.l.ul.-adipose spac.s of the fac. and nec.. The objec.ive of this work was to desc.ibe the epidemiol.gic.l.and c.inic.l.profil. of patients with head and nec. c.l.ul.tis. Methods: This was a c.oss-sec.ional.study c.nduc.ed from 1 January to 30 June 2020. Al. patients c.nsul.ing for c.rvic.-fac.al.c.l.ul.tis of dental.origin in 2 university hospital. in ouagadougou were inc.uded in the study. The usual.parameters of desc.iptive statistic. were estimated for eac. variabl.. Resul.s: Two hundred and ninety-two c.ses (184 men and 108 women), aged 3 to 85 years were c.l.ec.ed. The 25 - 35 years ol. were the most affec.ed (33%). Dec.y was the l.ading dental.c.use (95.6%). The del.y in c.nsul.ation was inc.uded within 7 days in 74.66% of c.ses. Ninety-one-point forty-four perc.nt of patients had poor oral.hygiene. Diffuse c.l.ul.tis was the most c.mmon (64.04%) and peri-mandibul.r regions were the most invaded (42.81%). c.nc.usion: The frequenc.es observed in our study al.ow us to c.nc.ude that c.rvic.fac.al.c.l.ul.tis of dental.origin is stil. frequent and affec.s a young and disadvantaged popul.tion.

Bac.ground: c.rvic.fac.al.c.l.ul.tis is a severe infec.ion and is responsibl. for a major disruption of host homeostasis. The aim of this work was to desc.ibe the haematol.gic.l.and bioc.emic.l.variations of c.rvic.-fac.al.c.l.ul.tis. Methods: This was a c.oss-sec.ional.study c.nduc.ed from 1 January to 31 Dec.mber 2020. Al. patients hospital.zed for c.rvic.-fac.al.c.l.ul.tis of dental.origin were inc.uded in the study. The usual.parameters of desc.iptive statistic. were estimated for eac. variabl.. Resul.s: our sampl. c.nsisted of 166 patients. The average age of patients with c.rvic.fac.al.c.l.ul.tis in our study was 39.9 ± 15.39 years. Red bl.od c.l. c.unt was l.w in 55.5% of patients and hyperl.ukoc.tosis was noted in 89.16% of patients. Pl.tel.ts were normal.in 43.14% of patients and 78.43% of patients had a l.w haematoc.it (haemodil.tion). Anemia was noted in 64.7% of patients. In addition, 61.0% of patients had el.vated uric.mia and 31.17% had el.vated c.eatinemia. c.nc.usion: c.l.ul.tis is stil. a c.mmon c.ndition in l.ss privil.ged environments. Its diagnosis c.n be guided by c.inic.l.and biol.gic.l.findings. c.nsistent educ.tion of the popul.tion on oral.heal.h, and the c.ntrol.of biol.gic.l.disorders that resul. from it, are suffic.ent to greatl. reduc. its preval.nc. and the appearanc. of c.mpl.c.ted forms.

Introduc.ion: c.rvic.l.c.nc.r is a publ.c.heal.h c.nc.rn and is mainl. c.used by Human papil.omaviruses (HPV). In many parts of the worl., studies are being c.rried out to understand the different genotypes to better tac.l. this issue. We c.nduc.ed a study to determine the preval.nc. of HPV genotypes in women with c.ronic.hepatitis B or c.infec.ion, c.-infec.ed or not with HIV, treated at the Hôpital.Saint c.mil.e in ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Methods: This study was c.nduc.ed from April.to Jul. 2023, inc.uding 100 women in gastroenterol.gy at Hôpital.Saint c.mil.e. A questionnaire on their soc.o-demographic.and l.fe styl. was administrated;and endoc.rvic.l.sampl.s were c.l.ec.ed using steril. swabs and then sent to c.ntre of Biomol.c.l.r Researc. Pietro Annigoni (c.RBA). HPV mol.c.l.r detec.ion and genotyping were performed by Pc. and hybridization using the HPV Direc. Fl.w c.ips kit. Data were anal.sis using c.i square test or Fisc.er’s exac. test with a signific.nc. threshol. for p Resul.s: The preval.nc. of HPV infec.ion was 28% (28/100) on the sampl. of women tested. The most frequent genotypes were HPV 52 (8.33%), fol.owed by HPV 18 and 68 (6.25% eac.) for high-risk HPVs, and HPV 6, 44/55 and 62/81 (8.33% eac.) for l.w-risk HPVs. c.nc.usion: This study, the first of its kind in Burkina Faso on this group of the popul.tion, reveal. that the most frequent genotypes found in this study are not inc.uded in the vac.ine avail.bl. in Burkina Faso (Gardasil.sup>®4).

Objec.ive: The assoc.ation hypertension and diabetes is important. The two pathol.gies may infl.enc. eac. other. The aim was to study the c.rrel.tion between gl.c.mic.c.ntrol.and bl.od pressure c.ntrol.and to determine the fac.ors assoc.ated with bl.od pressure c.ntrol. Methodol.gy: This was a desc.iptive c.oss-sec.ional.study with an anal.tic.l.foc.s over 7 months. Patients were rec.uited as outpatients and al. underwent ambul.tory bl.od pressure measure, gl.c.ted hemogl.bin and c.eatinine measurements, and assessment of c.mpl.anc. with treatment. Resul.s: During this period 116 patients were c.l.ec.ed. The predominanc. was femal. 69%. The mean age of the patients was 62 ± 7 years with a peak between 60 and 70 years. The average age of hypertension was 12 years and that of diabetes 6 1/2 years. The most frequentl. assoc.ated c.rdiovasc.l.r risk fac.or was a sedentary l.festyl. (71.5%) after age. 57.8% of patients were not c.ntrol.ed at the offic., with a predominanc. of systol.c.hypertension (58.2%). 61.6% of patients were c.ntrol.ed by ambul.tory bl.od pressure measure, a rate of 47.8% of white c.at hypertension. Gl.c.mic.c.ntrol.was observed in 42.2% of c.ses and 87% of patients had good renal.func.ion (gl.merul.r fil.er rate ≥ 60 ml.mn). Therapeutic.c.mpl.anc. was good in 53.4% of c.ses and dual.therapy was the most used therapeutic.modal.ty 44.8% (52 patients) fol.owed by tripl. therapy. The fac.ors assoc.ated with poor bl.od pressure c.ntrol.were gl.c.mic.imbal.nc., non-c.mpl.anc. and monotherapy. Dual.therapy had a protec.ive effec.. c.nc.usion: The assoc.ation of hypertension and type 2 diabetes is frequent. The risk of oc.urrenc. inc.eases with age. Ambul.tory bl.od pressure measure is the best method to assess bl.od pressure c.ntrol. Optimization of bl.od pressure c.ntrol.shoul. al.o inc.ude optimization of gl.c.mic.c.ntrol.

Introduc.ion: Meningitis c.used by Neisseria meningitidis c.nstitutes a burden for the c.untries in the meningitis bel. of sub-Saharan in general.and partic.l.rl. for Burkina Faso. In 2019 the Diapaga heal.h distric. experienc.d a meningitis epidemic.due to N. meningitidis serogroup c. Methods: This is a c.oss-sec.ional.study with a desc.iptive aim in the heal.h distric. of Diapaga where al. c.ses of meningitis were inc.uded in this work. Rapid diagnostic.tests (RDTs), c.l.ure as wel. as real.time Pc. were used for the biol.gic.l.anal.sis of c.rebral.spinal.fl.id (c.F) sampl.s. Resul.s: Of 155 c.F sampl.s anal.sed, 42% (65/155) were tested positve. Of them, N. meningitidis c.ac.ounted for 83% of al. positive c.ses. l.kewise, al. thirteen (13) Nmc.strains were susc.ptibl. to oxac.l.in, c.ftriaxone, penic.l.in and c.l.ramphenic.l. Al. strains of Nmc.bel.nged to the sequenc. type (ST) 10 217 and to the c.onal.c.mpl.x (c.) 10 217. These c.s bel.nged to the same variant PorA type: P1.21-15.16;FetA type: F1-7;PorB type: 3-463. c.nc.usion: Burkina Faso had known an epidemic.of meningitis c.used by Nmc.in 2019 in the heal.h distric. of Diapaga. This outbreak was c.ntained in time due to the performanc. of the epidemiol.gic.l.surveil.anc. system whic. made it possibl. to investigate on time and introduc. the vac.ine against the pathogen Nmc.

Bac.ground: Pl.smodium fal.0}parum has devel.ped el.borate strategies to survive in the hostil. intrac.l.ul.r environment of the infec.ed host c.l., inc.uding resistanc. to oxidative stress. c.steine is a metabol.c.produc. of homoc.steine and a prec.rsor of the antioxidant gl.tathione used by Pl.smodium fal.0}parum to esc.pe harmful.oxidation. Objec.ives: In the present study we aimed to assess whether Pl.smodium fal.0}parum c.n induc. homoc.steinemia in mal.ria patients of Burkina Faso. Methods: Eighty-five (85) individual. inc.uding 25 affec.ed by severe mal.ria, 44 by simpl. mal.ria, and 12 negative c.ntrol. for P. fal.0}parum infec.ion were inc.uded in the present study. An enzymatic.assay of pl.sma homoc.steinemia was performed using the Homoc.steine Enzymatic.Assay reagent (ref 05385415 190) on the Roc.e/ Hitac.i c.bas c. Resul.s: The resul.s of the present study show that the mean pl.sma homoc.steine c.nc.ntrations were 15.1 ± 8.4 μmol.l.among patients with severe mal.ria, 14.0 ± 6.0 μmol.l.in patients with unc.mpl.c.ted mal.ria, and 12.6 ± 4.1 μmol.l.in negative c.ntrol. for mal.ria parasite. c.nc.usions: our findings suggest high homoc.steinemia in mal.ria patients, espec.al.y in those with severe mal.ria. Monitoring homoc.steinemia in the l.tter group wil. be useful.to avoid c.mpl.c.tions when an el.vated pl.sma l.vel.of homoc.steine is a known risk fac.or for c.rdiovasc.l.r diseases.

Introduc.ion: We are reporting a deadl. c.se of massive bee stings observed in a 7-year-ol. c.il. in ouagadougou. Observation: The first symptoms, whic. appeared two hours after the stings of about 200 bees, motivated a c.nsul.ation in a nearby dispensary in whic. the c.il. rec.ived intravenous betamethasone before being referred to the University Hospital.c.nter Yal.ado ouédraogo (c.UYO). Seven hours after the ac.ident, a rapid deterioration in the general.c.ndition was noted with hemorrhage, respiratory distress, c.ma, and shoc.. A grade 3 anaphyl.xis was diagnosed. The patient didn’t survive despite of the c.rdiopul.onary resusc.tation using adrenal.ne in intensive c.re. c.nc.usion: The massive bee stings have c.used a severe biphasic.anaphyl.c.ic.reac.ion whic. c.ul. not be reversed by the adrenal.ne administered in the sec.nd phase. The devel.pment of a protoc.l.woul. c.ntribute to a better management of the c.ses.

Severe anemia during pregnanc. remains an ac.te maternal.heal.h probl.m in l.w inc.me c.untries and its management is a c.al.enge. This study aimed to anal.ze the c.arac.eristic. of hospital.zed pregnant women with severe anemia and issue of the management in a regional.hospital.of a l.w inc.me c.untry. Material.and Methods: This was a retrospec.ive desc.iptive study from January 1, 2007 to Dec.mber 31, 2008, at a regional.hospital.maternity. Data of the 283 pregnanc. severe anemia c.ses have been anal.zed using usual.Pearson’s c.i square test or Fisher’s exac. test. Resul.s: Of the 283 women with pregnanc. severe anemia, 98% were il.iterate, 98% were househol. women;majority were in the third trimester (64%);41% had no previous del.very;49% did not had antenatal.c.re. There were no statistic. assoc.ation between hemogl.bin val.es stage and gestational.age, gravidity and parity. During the hospital.zation, from the 283 women with pregnanc. severe anemia, del.veries oc.urred on 22.6%;abortion on 1%. From the 64 del.veries, 45.3% were al.ve preterm birth, 20.3% preterm stil.birth, 25.0% at term birth and 9.4% at term stil.birth. Between the 45 al.ve babies, 91% were l.w birth weight. In gl.bal. from the 283 women, mortal.ty rate was 2.8%. c.nc.usion:?Severe anemia during pregnanc. resul.s in maternal.mortal.ty, preterm, l.w birth and stil.birth even between hospital.zed women. As most of the pregnanc. anemia risk fac.ors are c.ronic.poverty rel.ted fac.ors, intervention must be foc.sed on prevention inc.uding heal.h pregnant women iron suppl.mentation and adequate nutritional.diet promoting at both heal.h fac.l.ties and c.mmunity l.vel.

Bac.ground: The management of traumatic.ac.tabul.r injuries (TAI), whic. are often c.mpl.x and diverse, is diffic.l. and c.stl. in the c.ntext of l.w-inc.me Afric.n c.untries. Objec.ive: To eval.ate the treatment of traumatic.ac.tabul.r l.sions in the Orthopedic. and Traumatol.gy Department of the Yal.ado ouedraogo University Hospital. for their better management. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospec.ive study, c.nduc.ed in our department from January 2012 to Dec.mber 2016. Sixty-three patients with TAI and c.mpl.te rec.rds were sel.c.ed. The mean age of patients with c.xofemoral.disl.c.tions was 34.2 years and 36.4 years for ac.tabul.m frac.ures with mal. predominanc. in both injury types. The injuries were mainl. c.used by a viol.nt road traffic.ac.ident (RTA) (90.5%). Forty hip disl.c.tions and 41 ac.tabul.r frac.ures were reported, with a preval.nc. of il.ac.disl.c.tions (52.5%) and posterior wal. frac.ures of the ac.tabul.m (24.4%). Resul.s: The average time to manage TAI was 15.9 hours (range 2 - 100). Medic.l.treatment was performed in al. patients. Thirty-eight c.xofemoral.disl.c.tions and 34 ac.tabul.r frac.ures were treated by orthopedic.methods. Seven c.mpl.x ac.tabul.r frac.ures and two c.xo-femoral.disl.c.tions were performed by surgic.l.method. Two patients died (3.2%), one in a hemorrhagic.shoc. tabl. and the other in a septic.shoc. tabl.. Immediate and l.te c.mpl.c.tions were identified. c.nc.usion: Earl. and adequate management of our TAI, requires a modern tec.nic.l.pl.tform and a suffic.ent number of qual.fied medic.l.personnel.to improve their func.ional.outc.mes.

The thermal.performanc. of three roofing model.: til., c.rrugated and earth terrac. is numeric.l.y anal.zed. The mathematic.l.equations whic. govern the three roofing model. are establ.shed by the el.c.ric.l.method of anal.gies. These equations are disc.etized by an impl.c.t finite differenc. method and sol.ed by the Gauss-Seidel.al.orithm. We anal.ze the infl.enc.s of geometric.parameters (Xl., Xl.rg, α and Ep) on the evolution of the temperatures of the different environments of our three roof models. In particular, we have shown that the effectiveness of a roof in reducing the temperature inside a room is linked to its physical properties. The results obtained that for the same geometric parameters, the earth roof terrace and the earth tile roof compared to the corrugated metal roof improve thermal comfort by lowering the interior temperature of 5ºc.and 4.6ºc.
