Structural regulation of coal-derived hard carbon anode for sodium-ion batteries via pre-oxidation

Hard carbon(HC)is broadly recognized as an exceptionally prospective candidate for the anodes of sodium-ion batteries(SIBs),but their practical implementation faces substantial limitations linked to precursor factors,such as reduced carbon yield and increased ***,a cost-effective approach is proposed to prepare a coal-derived HC anode with simple pre-oxidation followed by a post-carbonization process which effectively expands the d_(002)layer spacing,generates closed pores and increases defect *** these modifications,the resulting HC anode attains a delicate equilibrium between plateau capacity and sloping capacity,showcasing a remarkable reversible capacity of 306.3 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.03 A·g^(-1).Furthermore,the produ ced HC exhibits fast reaction kinetics and exceptional rate performance,achieving a capacity of 289 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1),equivalent to~94.5%of that at 0.03 A·g^(-1).When implemented in a full cell configuration,the impressive electrochemical performance is evident,with a notable energy density of 410.6 Wh·kg^(-1)(based on cathode mass).In short,we provide a straightforward yet efficient method for regulating coal-derived HC,which is crucial for the widespread use of SIBs anodes.

As the core components of fifth-generation(5G)communication technology,optical modules should be consistently miniaturized in size while improving their level of *** inevitably leads to a dramatic spike in power consumption and a consequent increase in heat flow density when operating in a confined *** ensure a successful start-up and operation of 5G optical modules,active cooling and precise temperature control via the Peltier effect in confined space is essential yet *** this work,p-type Bi_(0.5)Sb_(1.5)Te_(3)and n-type Bi_(2)Te_(2.7)Se_(0.3)bulk thermoelectric(TE)materials are used,and a micro thermoelectric thermostat(micro-TET)(device size,2×9.3×1.1mm^(3);leg size,0.4×0.4×0.5mm^(3);number of legs,44)is successfully integrated into a 5G optical module with Quad Small Form Pluggable 28 *** a result,the internal temperature of this kind of optical module is always maintained at 45.7°C and the optical power is up to 7.4 ***,a multifactor design roadmap is created based on a 3D numerical model using the ANSYS finite element method,taking into account the number of legs(N),leg width(W),leg length(L),filling atmosphere,electric contact resistance(Rec),thermal contact resistance(Rtc),ambient temperature(Ta),and the heat generated by the laser source(QL).It facilitates the integrated fabrication of micro-TET,and shows the way to enhance packaging and performance under different operating *** to the roadmap,the micro-TET(2×9.3×1mm^(3),W=0.3 mm,L=0.4 mm,N=68 legs)is fabricated and consumes only 0.89W in cooling mode(Q_(L)=0.7W,T_(a)=80℃)and 0.36Win heating mode(T_(a)=0℃)to maintain the laser temperature of 50℃.This research will hopefully be applied to other microprocessors for precise temperature control and integrated manufacturing.

The protective effects of fermented vinegar on acute alcohol-induced hepatic and neuro-toxicity by regulating ethanol metabolism and gut microbiota

Alcohol abuse constitutes a significant health hazard， leading to various organ damage， notably the liver and brain. Shanxi aged vinegar (SAV) is one of the famous fermented and functional foods containing a variety of bioactive ingredients with beneficial effects on the human body. This study aimed to explore the potential protective effect of SAV in alleviating acute alcohol intoxication (AAI) in mice. It was found that SAV at 2.5 mg/kg BW effectively ameliorated the decline in behavioral abilities following alcohol consumption， characterized by a shortened sobering period. SAV reduces alcohol-induced liver damage by inhibiting hepatic function enzymes and oxidative stress levels. Additionally， SAV mitigated the overactivation of microglia and the downregulation of neurotransmitter levels (AchE， 5-HT， and DA)， thereby reducing ethanol-induced brain damage. Meanwhile， SAV significantly decreased concentrations of alcohol and acetaldehyde in the blood and increased ADH and ALDH activities in the liver， indicating enhancement of ethanol metabolism. Moreover， we found that some gut microbiota including Verrucomicrobiota， Akkermansia， and Enterococcus were downregulated after SAV treatment in mice with AAI. These bacteria showed a negative correlation with anti-oxidative markers (GSH and CAT) and enzymes related to ethanol metabolism pathways (ADH and ALDH)， and a positive correlation with hepatic function markers (ALT， AST， and MDA)， alcohol metabolites (alcohol and acetaldehyde) and neurotransmitters (AchE， 5-HT， and DA). However， Bacteroidota， norank＿f＿Muribaculaceae， and Alistipes exhibited the opposite direction. These findings suggest that SAV possesses protective effects against hepatic and neuro-toxicity， and could be a potential functional food for AAI prevention.

Transcriptional regulation plays a key role in the control of seed dormancy,and many transcription factors(TFs)have been ***,the mechanisms underlying the interactions between different TFs within a transcriptional complex regulating seed dormancy remain largely ***,we showed that TF PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING FACTOR4(PIF4)physically interacted with the abscisic acid(ABA)signaling responsive TF ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE4(ABI4)to act as a transcriptional complex to promote ABA biosynthesis and signaling,finally deepening primary seed *** pif4 and abi4 single mutants exhibited a decreased primary seed dormancy phenotype,with a synergistic effect in the pif4/abi4 double ***4 binds to ABI4 to form a heterodimer,and ABI4 stabilizes PIF4 at the protein level,whereas PIF4 does not affect the protein stabilization of ***,both TFs independently and synergistically promoted the expression of ABI4 and NCED6,a key gene for ABA *** genetic evidence is also consistent with the phenotypic,physiological and biochemical analysis ***,this study revealed a transcriptional regulatory cascade in which the PIF4–ABI4 transcriptional activator complex synergistically enhanced seed dormancy by facilitating ABA biosynthesis and signaling.

Superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors(SNSPDs)have become a mainstream photon-counting technology that has been widely applied in various *** far,most multi-channel SNSPD systems,either reported in literature or commercially available,are polarization sensitive,that is,the system detection efficiency(SDE)of each channel is dependent on the state of polarization of the to-be-detected ***,we reported an eight-channel system with fractal SNSPDs working in the wavelength range of 930 to 940 nm,which are all featured with low polarization *** a close-cycled Gifford-McMahon cryocooler system with the base temperature of 2.2 K,we installed and compared the performance of two types of devices:(1)SNSPD,composed of a single,continuous nanowire and(2)superconducting nanowire avalanche photodetector(SNAP),composed of 16 cascaded units of two nanowires electrically connected in *** highest SDE among the eight channels reaches 96+^(4)_(-5%),with the polarization sensitivity of 1.02 and a dark-count rate of 13 counts per *** average SDE for eight channels for all states of polarization is estimated to be 90±5%.It is concluded that both the SNSPDs and the SNAPs can reach saturated,high SDE at the wavelength of interest,and the SNSPDs show lower dark-count(false-count)rates,whereas the SNAPs show better properties in the time *** the adoption of this system,we showcased the measurements of the second-order photon-correlation functions of light emission from a singlephoton source based on a semiconductor quantum dot and from a pulsed *** is believed that this work will provide new choices of systems with single-photon detectors combining the merits of high SDE,low polarization sensitivity,and low noise that can be tailored for different applications.
