Evaluating R&D efficiency of China's listed lithium battery enterprises

Promoting the growth of the lithium battery sector has been a critical aspect of China's energy policy in terms of achieving carbon ***,despite significant support on research and development(R&D)investments that have resulted in increasing size,the sector seems to be falling behind in technological *** guide future policies and understand proper ways of promoting R&D efficiency,we looked into the lithium battery industry of ***,data envelopment analysis(DEA)was used as the primary approach based on evidence from 22 listed lithium battery *** performance of the five leading players was compared with that of the industry as a *** revealed little indication of a meaningful improvement in R&D efficiency throughout our sample from 2010 to ***,during this period,a significant increase in R&D expenditure was *** finding was supported,as the results showed that the average technical efficiency of the 22 enterprises was 0.442,whereas the average pure technical efficiency was at 0.503,thus suggesting that they were suffering from decreasing returns to scale(DRS).In contrast,the performance of the five leading players seemed superior because their average efficiency scores were higher than the industry's ***,they were experiencing increasing scale efficiency(IRS).We draw on these findings to suggest to policymakers that supporting technologically intensive sectors should be more than simply increasing investment scale;rather,it should also encompass assisting businesses in developing efficient managerial processes for R&D.

Analytical Expression for the Atomic Friction of a Single Asperity Based on the Prandtl-Tomlinson Model

The Prandtl-Tomlinson(PT)model has been widely applied to interpret the atomic friction mechanism of a single *** this study,we present an approximate explicit expression for the friction force in the one-dimensional PT model under quasi-static ***‘stick-slip’friction curves are first approximated properly by sawtooth-like lines,where the critical points before and after the‘slip’motion are described analytically in terms of a dimensionless parameterη.Following this,the average friction force is expressed in a closed form that remains continuous and valid forη>***,an analytical expression for the load dependence of atomic friction of a single asperity is derived by connecting the parameterηwith the normal *** the parameters reported in experiments,our prediction shows good agreement with relevant experimental results.

In this study,the cobalt-nickel layered double hydroxides(CoNi LDH)were synthesized with a variety of Co/Ni mass ratio,as *** comparison,Co1Ni3LDH presented the best peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation efficiency for 2,4-dichlorophenol ***,CoNi LDH@Nickel foam(CoNi LDH@NF)composite membrane was constructed for enhancing the stability of catalytic ***,CoNi LDH@NF-PMS system exerted high degradation efficiency of 99.22%within 90 min for 2,4-DCP when[PMS]_(0)=0.4 g/L,Co^(1)Ni^(3)LDH@NF=2 cm×2 cm(0.2 g/L),reaction temperature=298 *** the surface morphology and structure of the catalyst,it was demonstrated that the CoNi LDH@NF composite membrane possessed abundant cavity structure,good specific surface area and sufficient active ***,·OH,SO_(4)·^(-)and^(1)O_(2)played the primary role in the CoNi LDH@NF-PMS system for 2,4-DCP decomposition,which revealed the PMS activation mechanism in CoNi LDH@NF-PMS ***,this study eliminated the stability and adaptability of CoNi LDH@NF composite membrane,proposing a new theoretical basis of PMS heterogeneous catalysts selection.

Effects of surface energy and substrate on modulus determination of biological films by conical indentation

Micro-/nano-indentation has become prevalent in evaluating the mechanical characteristics of biological samples,such as cells and ***,the existing contact models describing conical indentation ignore the joint effects of surface energy and substrate,and consequently cannot accurately extract the Young's modulus of biological samples deposited on *** finite element methods,we examine the conical indentation of biological films on substrates while taking surface energy into *** on the dimensional analysis,the explicit relationship between load and indentation depth is achieved for films with their moduli varying from 0.001 to 100 times that of the *** the classical Sneddon's model was employed to analyze the load-depth data,the measured modulus could reach 18 times the real modulus for films on harder substrates,but only 4%of the real modulus for films on softer ***,in micro-/nano-indentations,neglecting the contribution of surface energy would result in an overestimation of the Young's modulus of films depending on the contact *** analytical expression provided here can be utilized to precisely deduce the mechanical characteristics of biological films deposited on substrate from the load and indentation depth data of a conical indentation.

Hypoxia-mediated programmed cell death is involved in the formation of wooden breast in broilers

Background Wooden breast(WB)myopathy is a common myopathy found in commercial broiler chickens *** examination has revealed that WB myopathy is accompanied by damage to the pectoralis major(PM)***,the underlying mechanisms responsible for the formation of WB in broilers have not been fully *** study aimed to investigate the potential role of hypoxia-mediated programmed cell death(PCD)in the formation of WB *** Histological examination and biochemical analysis were performed on the PM muscle of the control(CON)and WB groups.A significantly increased thickness of the breast muscle in the top,middle,and bottom portions(Pbirds with *** ratio of LC3 II to LC3 I,and the autophagy-related factors HIF-1α,BNIP3,Beclin1,AMPKα,and ULK1 at the m RNA and protein levels,were all significantly upregulated(P<0.05),showing that autophagy occurred in the PM muscle of the WB *** apoptotic index,as well as the expressions of Bax,Cytc,caspase 9,and caspase 3,were significantly increased(P<0.05),whereas Bcl-2 was significantly decreased(P<0.05)in the WB-affected PM muscle,indicating the occurrence of apoptosis mediated by the mitochondrial ***,the expressions of necroptosis-related factors RIP1,RIP3,and MLKL,as well as NF-κB and the pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α,IL-1β,and IL-6,were all significantly enhanced(P<0.05)in the WB-affected PM *** T

Fairy shrimp Branchinella kugenumaensis displays sensitivity to microplastic exposure

The increasing global concern regarding plastic pollution has prompted the research into the consequences of microplastics(MPs)on aquatic *** shrimp Branchinella kugenumaensis are freshwater planktonic organisms that have existed for 250 million *** study aimed to uncover the harmful effects of MPs,with a particular focus on their size variations(0.1,1,and 5μm),on the fairy *** focused on how MPs could significantly affect the survival and growth of fairy ***,larger MPs,especially those measuring 5μm,caused higher mortality rates and hindered the growth compared to smaller *** impact of MPs continued even subsequent to depuration in clean *** accumulation of MPs within the intestines of fairy shrimp resulted in intestinal blockages,disrupted excretory functions,and harmed intestinal epithelial *** at the histological,cellular,and molecular levels showed that exposure to MPs triggered necroptosis in intestinal cells,accompanied by alterations in pathways related to transcription,translation,digestion,energy metabolism,and neurological ***,the effects of MPs on gene expression and pathways varied based on particle size,with larger MPs having a more significant effect and causing a strong response in xenobiotic biodegradation and metabolism *** suggest that the increasing severity of MPs pollution could pose a significant threat to the survival of fairy *** study provided vital insights into the complex relationship between microplastics and aquatic organisms,and highlighted the urgent need to address the potential devastating impact of plastic pollution on freshwater ***,due to their rapid growth,strong reproductive capacity,sensitivity,and ease of cultivation,fairy shrimp hold the potential candidate to serve as a model organism for studying the effects of MPs and other pollutants on freshwater ecosystems.

Pore Formation Mechanism in W-C Hard Coatings Using Directed Energy Deposition on Tungsten Alloy

Porosity is a common phenomenon and can significantly hinder the quality of the ***,the pore formation mechanism and the characteristics of the single tracks of the W-C coating using directed energy deposition(DED)are systematically *** forming quality of the tracks,the distribution of the pores,and the elemental distribution near the pores are analyzed by the observations of the cross-sections of the *** temperature field of the melt pool is discussed comprehensively to reveal the pore formation *** results confirm that Ni and Co evaporated during the DED process due to the high temperature of the melt *** were continuously produced adjacent to the fusion line when the melt pool was about to solidify since the temperature at the solidification front was higher than the boiling point of *** vaporization area at the fusion line was proposed,where Ni could also evaporate at the time the melt pool started to *** relationship between the solidification rate,the size of the vaporization area and the DED parameters(laser power and scanning speed)was established to discuss the causes of severe pores above the fusion *** work contains a practical guide to reduce or eliminate the porosity in the coating preparation process on the surface of the tungsten alloy.
