UV-Vis and Surface Photovoltage Spectra of Fe_2O_3/Polystyrene Composite Microspheres

Fe_2O_3 sol with the particle diameter of 3-5 nm was flocculated by the addition of SDS, and the flocculate formed was redispersed by the further addition of that surfactant. Thus the surfactant bilayer was formed on the surface of Fe_2O_3. The emulsion polymerization of styrene(St) adsolubilized on the surfactant adsorbed bilayer was carried out by initiator potassium persulfate(KPS). The UV-Vis and surface photovoltage spectra(SPS) indicate that the Fe_2O_3 particles were encapsulated in polystyrene(PSt) successfully.

Objective Cardiac fibroblasts(CFs)proliferation and extracellular matrix deposition are important features of cardiac *** studies have indicated that vitamin D displays an anti-fibrotic property in chronic heart *** study explored the role of vitamin D in the growth of CFs via an integrin signaling *** MTT and 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine assays were performed to determine cell *** blotting was performed to detect the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)and integrin signaling *** fibronectin was observed by *** staining was employed to evaluate the expression of integrinβ*** The PCNA expression in the CFs was enhanced after isoproterenol(ISO)stimulation accompanied by an elevated expression of integrin beta-3(β3).The blockade of the integrinβ3 with a specific integrinβ3 antibody reduced the PCNA expression induced by the *** the integrinβ3 by siRNA reduced the ISO-triggered phosphorylation of FAK and *** the FAK inhibitor and Akt inhibitor suppressed the PCNA expression induced by the ISO in the ***(CAL),an active form of vitamin D,attenuated the ISO-induced CFs proliferation by downregulating the integrinβ3 expression,and phosphorylation of FAK and ***,CAL reduced the increased levels of fibronectin and hydroxyproline in the CFs culture medium triggered by the *** administration of calcitriol decreased the integrinβ3 expression in the ISO-induced myocardial injury *** These findings revealed a novel role for CAL in suppressing the CFs growth by the downregulation of the integrinβ3/FAK/Akt pathway.

The Luders deformation behavior in a medium Mn transformation induced plasticity （TRIP） steel is investigated at different temperatures ranging from 25 to 300 ℃. It demonstrates that the Ltiders band appears at all testing temperatures but with varied Luders strains which do not change monoton ically with temperature. The martensitic transformation is simultaneously observed within the Ltiders band in varying degrees depending on the testing temperature. It is well verified that the martensitic transformation is not responsible for the formation of Luders band, and a reasonable explanation is given for the non-monotonic variation of Luders strain with increasing temperature.

The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been a great burden for the healthcare system in many countries because of its high transmissibility,severity,and *** radiography and computed tomography(CT)play a vital role in the diagnosis,detection of complications,and prognostication of ***,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),especially multi-nuclei MRI,is another important imaging technique for disease diagnosis because of its good soft tissue contrast and the ability to conduct structural and functional imaging,which has also been used to evaluate COVID-19-related organ injuries in previous ***,we briefly reviewed the recent research on multi-nuclei MRI for evaluating injuries caused by COVID-19 and the clinical 1 H MRI techniques and their applications for assessing injuries in lungs,brain,and ***,the emerging hyperpolarized 129Xe gas MRI and its applications in the evaluation of pulmonary structures and functional abnormalities caused by COVID-19 were also reviewed.

BACKGROUND Globe luxation is rare and is mostly due to direct orbital trauma with fractures of the medial and floor walls,which displace the globe into the maxillary *** a few cases have been reported;moreover,patients who suffer global luxation rarely achieve eyesight *** SUMMARY This report describes the treatment and prognosis of global luxation occurring in a child.A 6-year-old boy presented with left globe luxation that occurred after a sudden stop on a tricycle,without any injury to the orbital or maxillofacial bony *** admission to the hospital,an external canthus incision,globe repositioning,orbital exploration and temporary blepharoplasty were ***,the child completely recovered and maintained good eyesight in his left eye even though the right eye developed myopia after four years of *** The aim of this study was to report the special occurrence of globe luxation in the child and share some experience of the *** surgical management plays an important role in the recovery of visual function,and globe luxation may prevent nearsightedness by reducing the distortion of the eyeball,shortening the axis and improving ciliary function.

In an effort to investigate and quantify the patterns of local scour,researchers embarked on an in-depth study using a systematic experimental *** research focused on the effects of local scour around a set of four piles,each subjected to different hydromechanical *** particular,this study aimed to determine how different attack angles—the angles at which the water flow impinges on the piles,and gap ratios—the ratios of the spacing between the piles to their diameters,influence the extent and nature of scour.A comprehensive series of 35 carefully designed experiments were orchestrated,each designed to dissect the nuances in how the gap ratio and attack angle might contribute to changes in the local scour observed at the base of pile *** these experimental trials,a wealth of local scour data were collected to support the *** data included precise topographic profiles of the sediment bed around the pile groups,as well as detailed scour time histories showing the evolution of scour at strategic feature points throughout the test *** analysis of the experimental data provided interesting *** study revealed that the interplay between the gap ratio and the attack angle had a pronounced influence on the scouring dynamics of the pile *** of the key observations was that the initial phases of scour,particularly within the first hour of water flow exposure,were characterized by a sharp increase in the scour depth occurring immediately in front of the *** this initial rapid development,the scour depth transitioned to a more gradual change *** contrast,the scour topography around the piles continuously *** suggests that sediment displacement and the associated sculpting of the seabed around pile foundations are sustained and progressive processes,altering the underwater landscape over *** results of this empirical investigation have significant implications for the design and constructio
