Arteriolosclerosis differs from venular collagenosis in relation to cerebrovascular parenchymal damages:an autopsy-based study

Differential analysis of lymph node metastasis in histological mixed-type early gastric carcinoma in the mucosa and submucosa

AIM To investigate the relationship between histological mixed-type of early gastric cancer(EGC) in the mucosa and submucosa and lymph node metastasis(LNM).METHODS This study included 298 patients who underwent gastrectomy for EGC between 2005 and 2012. Enrolled lesions were divided into groups of pure differentiated(pure D), pure undifferentiated(pure U), and mixed-type according to the proportion of the differentiated and undifferentiated components observed under a microscope. We reviewed the clinicopathological features, including age, sex, location, size, gross type, lymphovascular invasion, ulceration, and LNM, among the three groups. furthermore, we evaluated the predictors of LNM in the mucosa-confined *** Of the 298 patients, 165(55.4%) had mucosa-confined EGC and 133(44.6%) had submucosa-invasive EGC. Only 13(7.9%) cases of mucosa-confined EGC and 30(22.6%) cases of submucosa-invasive EGC were observed to have LNM. The submucosal invasion(OR = 4.58, 95%CI: 1.23-16.97, P = 0.023), pure U type(OR = 4.97, 95%CI: 1.21-20.39, P = 0.026), and mixedtype(OR = 5.84, 95%CI: 1.05-32.61, P = 0.044) were independent risk factors for LNM in EGC. The rate of LNM in mucosa-confined EGC was higher in the mixedtype group(P = 0.012) and pure U group(P = 0.010) than in the pure D group, but no significant difference was found between the mixed-type group and pure U group(P = 0.739). Similarly, the rate of LNM in the submucosa-invasive EGC was higher in the mixedtype(P = 0.012) and pure U group(P = 0.009) than in the pure D group but was not significantly different between the mixed-type and pure U group(P = 0.375). Multivariate logistic analysis showed that only female sex(OR = 5.83, 95%CI: 1.64-20.70, P = 0.028) and presence of lymphovascular invasion(OR = 13.18, 95%CI: 1.39-125.30, P = 0.020) were independent risk factors for LNM in mucosa-confined EGC, while histological type was not an independent risk factor for LNM in mucosa-confined EGC(P = 0.106).CONCLUSION fo

Landau-Zener-Stückelberg(LZS)interference has drawn renewed attention to quantum information processing research because it is not only an effective tool for characterizing two-level quantum systems but also a powerful approach to manipulate quantum *** quantum circuits,due to their versatile tunability and degrees of control,are ideal platforms for studying LZS interference *** use a superconducting Xmon qubit to study LZS interference by parametrically modulating the qubit transition frequency *** dc flux biasing of the qubit slightly far away from the optimal flux point,the qubit excited state population shows an interference pattern that is very similar to the standard LZS interference in linear regime,except that all bands shift towards lower frequencies when increasing the rf modulation *** dc flux biasing close to the optimal flux point,the negative sidebands and the positive sidebands behave differently,resulting in an asymmetric interference *** experimental results are also in good agreement with our analytical and numerical simulations.

Water-soluble thermal initiators are important radical sources to be applied in various ***,the uncontrolled radical generation from the high sensitivity of initiators may cause disadvantages in the ***,we present a series of supramolecular radical switches regulated by the host-guest chemistry between initiators and cucurbit[8]uril(CB[8]).Thermal initiators(VA-044,VA-056,VA-057)can be spontaneously encapsulated into the cavity of CB[8]to“turn off”their radical-generation *** activity will instantaneously“turn on”in the presence of other competitors such as 1-adamantylamine(ADA).Further,we demonstrated the free radical polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide using initiators,inhibiting its activity by binding with CB[8]and initiating reaction by adding *** novel supramolecular radical switches provide a facile strategy to control the generation of free radicals in a“plug-and-play”manner,which may arouse research interests in polymerization,catalysis,and the biomedical field.

Spin squeezing is a fascinating manifestation of many-particle entanglement and one of the most promising quantum *** this paper,we propose a novel realization of a solid-state quantum spin squeezing by applying SiV centers embedded in a diamond waveguide with the help of a microwave *** phenomena about the generation of spin squeezing are analyzed numerically in Markovian *** analysis shows that spin squeezing can be generated with the microwave field’s help under some realistic conditions,despite the presence of dephasing and mechanical *** solid-state spin squeezing based on SiV centers in diamonds might be applied to magnetometers,interferometry,and other precise measurements.

Thoracic para-aortic lymph node recurrence in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma:A propensity score-matching analysis

BACKGROUND Thoracic para-aortic lymph node(TPLN)recurrence in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)is rare and its impact on survival is *** studied survival in patients with ESCC who developed TPLN *** To study the survival in patients with ESCC who developed TPLNs *** Data were collected retrospectively for 219 patients who had undergone curative surgery for ESCC during January 2012 to November 2017 and who developed recurrences(36.29%of 604 patients who had undergone curative surgeries for ESCC).The patients were classified into positive(+)and negative(-)TPLN metastasis *** also investigated TPLN recurrence in 223 patients with ESCC following definitive chemoradiotherapy during *** propensity score matching(PSM)and survival estimation,factors predictive of overall survival(OS)were explored using a Cox proportional hazards *** Among the patients with confirmed recurrence,18 were TPLN(+)and 13 developed synchronous distant *** PSM,TPLN(+)was associated with worse recurrence-free(P=0.00049)and OS[vs TPLN(-);P=0.0027],whereas only the intergroup difference in recurrence-free survival remained significant after PSM(P=0.013).The Cox analysis yielded similar *** the patients who had received definitive chemoradiotherapy,3(1.35%)had preoperative TPLN enlargement and none had developed *** TPLN metastasis is rare but may be associated with poor survival.

Nitric oxide removal from flue gas coupled with the Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA regeneration by ultraviolet irradiation

During wet complexation denitrification of flue gas,Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA regeneration,also known as reducing Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA and Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA-nitric oxide(NO)to Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA,is *** this paper,ultraviolet(UV)light was used for the first time to reduce Fe^(Ⅱ)*** experimental result demonstrated that Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA-NO reduction rate increased with UV power increasing,elevated temperature,and initial Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA-NO concentration ***^(Ⅱ)EDTA-NO reduction rate increased first and then decreased as pH value increased(2.0-10.0).Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA-NO reduction with UV irradiation presented a first order reaction with respect to Fe^(Ⅱ)*** with other Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA regeneration methods,Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA regeneration with UV show more superiority through comprehensive consideration of regeneration rate and ***,NO absorption experiment by Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA solution with UV irradiation confirmed that UV can significantly promote the NO removal performance of Fe^(Ⅱ)*** oxygen concentration(3%(vol))and acidic environment(pH=4)was favorable for NO *** UV power increasing as well as temperature decreasing,NO removal efficiency *** addition,the mechanism research indicates that NO from flue gas is mostly converted to NO_(2)-,NO_(3)-,NH_(4)^(+),N_(2),and N_(2)O with Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA absorption liquid with UV *** strengthens NO removal in Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA absorption liquid by forming a synergistic effect of ***,compared with NO removal methods with Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA,Fe^(Ⅱ)EDTA combined UV system shows prominent technology advantage in terms of economy and secondary pollution.

Effect of quercetin on chondrocyte phenotype and extracellular matrix expression

Due to the poor repair ability of cartilage tissue,regenerative medicine still faces great challenges in the repair of large articular cartilage *** is widely applied as a traditional Chinese medicine in tissue regeneration including liver,bone and skin ***,the evidence for its effects and internal mechanisms for cartilage regeneration are *** the present study,the effects of quercetin on chondrocyte function were systematically evaluated by CCK8 assay,PCR assay,cartilaginous matrix staining assays,immunofluorescence assay,and western *** results showed that quercetin significantly up-regulated the expression of chondrogenesis genes and stimulated the secretion of GAG(glycosaminoglycan)through activating the ERK,P38 and AKT signalling pathways in a dose-dependent ***,in vivo experiments revealed that quercetin-loaded silk protein scaffolds dramatically stimulated the formation of new cartilage-like tissue with higher histological scores in rat femoral cartilage *** data suggest that quercetin can effectively stimulate chondrogenesis in vitro and in vivo,demonstrating the potential application of quercetin in the regeneration of cartilage defects.

Wang-Bi tablet, a patented Chinese medicine, maintains the balance of Th1/Th2 in mice with collagen-induced arthritis

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the pharmacological mechanism of Wang-Bi tablets(WBTs), a Chinese patented medicine, in rheumatoid arthritis(RA) using mice with collagen-induced arthritis(CIA).METHODS: A mouse model of CIA was induced using bovine type Ⅱ collagen. WBT treatment was administered and efficacy was evaluated. The levels of interferon-γ(IFN-γ), interleukin-2(IL-2), and interleukin-4(IL-4) were examined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the proportions of Th1 and Th2 were detected using flow cytometry. T-bet and GATA-binding protein 3(GATA3)expression were demonstrated using Western blot ***: Paw swelling and the arthritis index decreased significantly following WBT treatment. Histopathological analysis revealed markedly alleviated damage to synovium tissue in the WBT and methotrexate treatment groups. WBT regulated the production of IFN-γ, IL-2, and IL-4 and modulated Th1 and Th2 cell populations, which might have been induced by the attenuation of Th1 and Th2 cell differentiation through a decrease in the expression of T-bet and an increase in the expression of GATA3 in the synovial tissue in CIA ***: These results indicate that WBT may produce a therapeutic effect on CIA through maintaining the balance of Th1/Th2 cells, which could result in a decrease in the autoinflammatory disorder observed in RA.
