Knockout of cryptochrome 1 disturbs the locomotor circadian rhythm and development of Plutella xylostella

Cryptochrome 1(CRY1)functions as a light-responsive photoreceptor,which is crucial for circadian rhythms.The identity and function of CRY1 in Plutella xylostella remain unknown.In this study,cryl was cloned and identified in P xylostella.Then,a cry1-knockout strain(Cry1-KO)of P xylostella with a 2-bp deletion was established from the strain Geneva 88(G88)using the CRISPR/Cas9 technology.No daily temporal os-cillation of cryl was observed in G88 and Cry1-KO,and cryl mean daily transcription of Cry1-KO was lower than that of G88.Both G88 and Cry1-KO demonstrated rhythmic locomotion under the light/dark condition with Cryl-KO being more active than G88 in the daytime,whereas Cry1-KO completely lost rhythmicity under constant darkness.The developmental period of pre-adult of Cry1-KO was longer than that of G88;the lifespan of the Cry1-KO male adult was shorter than that of G88;the fecundity of Cry1-KO was lower than that of G88;and Cry1-KO showed lower intrinsic rate of increase(r),net repro-duction rate(Ro),finite increase rate(a),and longer mean generation time(T)than G88.Our results indicate that cryl is involved in the regulation of locomotor circadian rhythm and development in P xylostella,providing a potential target gene for controlling the pest and a basis for further investigation on circadian rhythms in lepidopterans.

Viscoelastic anticorrosive tape is extensively used for repairing anticorrosive layers on compressor outlet pipelines in the oil and gas industry.However,there is no relevant research on the coupling effect of temperature and vibration on the performance of viscoelastic anticorrosive tape.In this paper,acceleration tests of temperature and vibration coupling conditions were conducted to investigate the performance of viscoelastic anticorrosive tape.After temperature and vibration treatment,the specimens showed wide variance in thickness,and the adhesion and chemical soaking resistance of the tape was reduced.However,the viscoelastic anticorrosive tape still showed high adhesion.According to theoretical calculations,the tested viscoelastic body can repair pipes with a maximum diameter of 903 mm.Therefore,this viscoelastic anticorrosive tape is suitable for the compressor outlets of buried pipelines with diameters smaller than 903 mm.The research in this paper provides a method and basis for the selection of repairing materials for the anticorrosion coatings of compressor outlet pipelines.

Immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)therapy for cancer has achieved great success both in clinical results and on the market.At the same time,success drives more attention from scientists to improve it.However,only a small portion of patients are responsive to this therapy,and it comes with a unique spectrum of side effects termed immunerelated adverse events(irAEs).The use of nanotechnology could improve ICBs’delivery to the tumor,assist them in penetrating deeper into tumor tissues and alleviate their irAEs.Liposomal nanomedicine has been investigated and used for decades,and is well-recognized as the most successful nano-drug delivery system.The successful combination of ICB with liposomal nanomedicine could help improve the efficacy of ICB therapy.In this review,we highlighted recent studies using liposomal nanomedicine(including new emerging exosomes and their inspired nanovesicles)in associating ICB therapy.

Optimal search path planning of UUV in battlefeld ambush scene

Aiming at the practical application of Unmanned Underwater Vehicle(UUV)in underwater combat,this paper proposes a battlefield ambush scene with UUV considering ocean current.Firstly,by establishing these mathematical models of ocean current environment,target movement,and sonar detection,the probability calculation methods of single UUV searching target and multiple UUV cooperatively searching target are given respectively.Then,based on the Hybrid Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization(HQPSO)algorithm,the path with the highest target search probability is found.Finally,through simulation calculations,the influence of different UUV parameters and target parameters on the target search probability is analyzed,and the minimum number of UUVs that need to be deployed to complete the ambush task is demonstrated,and the optimal search path scheme is obtained.The method proposed in this paper provides a theoretical basis for the practical application of UUV in the future combat.

Anti-inflammatory mechanism of the non-volatile ingredients performance liquid chromatography-heated electron spray ionization-high resolution mass spectroscope and cell metabolomics

OBJECTIVE:To explore the anti-inflammatory components and mechanism of the non-volatile ingredients of patchouli.METHODS:High performance liquid chromatographyheated electron spray ionization-high resolution mass spectroscope(HPLC-HESI-HRMS)was used to analyze the chemical constituents of the non-volatile ingredients of patchouli.The anti-inflammatory activity of ingredients was evaluated using lipopolysaccharide(LPS)induced RAW264.7 cell inflammation model,and the antiinflammatory mechanism was investigated using multivariate statistical analysis of cell metabolomics.RESULTS:The non-volatile ingredients of patchouli were characterized by HPLC-HESI-HRMS,and 36 flavonoids and 18 other components were identified.These ingredients of patchouli not only had a good protective effect on the LPS-induced inflammation model of RAW264.7 cells,but also regulated the expression levels of arginine,L-leucine,cholesterol,fructose and sorbitol by down-regulating arginine metabolism,aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis,polyol/sorbitol pathway,so as to reduce inflammation and reduce cell damage.CONCLUSION:The non-volatile ingredients of patchouli had good anti-inflammatory effect and exerted its curative effect by regulating endogenous metabolic pathway to reduce inflammatory response.

A Dual-Cluster-Head Based Medium Access Control for Large-Scale UAV Ad-Hoc Networks

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)ad hoc network has achieved significant growth for its flexibility,extensibility,and high deployability in recent years.The application of clustering scheme for UAV ad hoc network is imperative to enhance the performance of throughput and energy efficiency.In conventional clustering scheme,a single cluster head(CH)is always assigned in each cluster.However,this method has some weaknesses such as overload and premature death of CH when the number of UAVs increased.In order to solve this problem,we propose a dual-cluster-head based medium access control(DCHmaC)scheme for large-scale UAV networks.In DCHmaC,two CHs are elected to manage resource allocation and data forwarding cooperatively.Specifically,two CHs work on different channels.One of CH is used for intra-cluster communication and the other one is for inter-cluster communication.A markov chain model is developed to analyse the throughput of the network.Simulation result shows that compared with FM-maC(flying ad hoc networks multi-channel maC,FM-maC),DCHmaC improves the throughput by approximately 20%~50%and prolongs the network lifetime by approximately 40%.

Gradient sparsification for efficient wireless federated learning with differential privacy

Federated learning(FL) enables distributed clients to collaboratively train a machine learning model without sharing raw data with each other. However, it suffers from the leakage of private information from uploading models. In addition, as the model size grows, the training latency increases due to the limited transmission bandwidth and model performance degradation while using differential privacy(DP)protection. In this paper, we propose a gradient sparsification empowered FL framework with DP over wireless channels, to improve training efficiency without sacrificing convergence performance. Specifically, we first design a random sparsification algorithm to retain a fraction of the gradient elements in each client’s local model, thereby mitigating the performance degradation induced by DP and reducing the number of transmission parameters over wireless channels. Then, we analyze the convergence bound of the proposed algorithm, by modeling a non-convex FL problem. Next, we formulate a time-sequential stochastic optimization problem for minimizing the developed convergence bound, under the constraints of transmit power, the average transmitting delay, as well as the client’s DP requirement. Utilizing the Lyapunov drift-plus-penalty framework, we develop an analytical solution to the optimization problem. Extensive experiments have been implemented on three real-life datasets to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. We show that our proposed algorithms can fully exploit the interworking between communication and computation to outperform the baselines, i.e., random scheduling, round robin, and delay-minimization algorithms.

CToMP: a cycle-task-oriented memory protection scheme for unmanned systems

Memory corruption attacks(MCAs) refer to malicious behaviors of system intruders that modify the contents of a memory location to disrupt the normal operation of computing systems, causing leakage of sensitive data or perturbations to ongoing processes. Unlike general-purpose systems, unmanned systems cannot deploy complete security protection schemes, due to their limitations in size, cost and performance.MCAs in unmanned systems are particularly difficult to defend against. Furthermore, MCAs have diverse and unpredictable attack interfaces in unmanned systems, severely impacting digital and physical sectors. In this paper, we first generalize, model and taxonomize MCAs found in unmanned systems currently, laying the foundation for designing a portable and general defense approach. According to different attack mechanisms,we found that MCAs are mainly categorized into two types — return2libc and return2shellcode. To tackle return2libc attacks, we model the erratic operation of unmanned systems with cycles and then propose a cycle-task-oriented memory protection(CToMP) approach to protect control flows from tampering. To defend against return2shellcode attacks, we introduce a secure process stack with a randomized memory address by leveraging the memory pool to prevent Shellcode from being executed. Moreover, we discuss the mechanism by which CTo MP resists the return-oriented programming(ROP) attack, a novel variant of return2libc attacks. Finally, we implement CTo MP on CUAV V5+ with Ardupilot and Crazyflie. The evaluation and security analysis results demonstrate that the proposed approach CTo MP is resilient to various MCAs in unmanned systems with low footprints and system overhead.

Hypertension is a primary risk factor for the progression of cognitive impairment caused by cerebral small vessel disease,the most common cerebrovascular disease.Howeve r,the causal relationship between hypertension and cerebral small vessel disease remains unclear.Hypertension has substantial negative impacts on brain health and is recognized as a risk factor for cerebrovascular disease.Chronic hypertension and lifestyle factors are associated with risks for stro ke and dementia,and cerebral small vessel disease can cause dementia and stroke.Hypertension is the main driver of cerebral small vessel disease,which changes the structure and function of cerebral vessels via various mechanisms and leads to lacunar infarction,leukoaraiosis,white matter lesions,and intracerebral hemorrhage,ultimately res ulting in cognitive decline and demonstrating that the brain is the to rget organ of hypertension.This review updates our understanding of the pathogenesis of hypertensioninduced cerebral small vessel disease and the res ulting changes in brain structure and function and declines in cognitive ability.We also discuss drugs to treat cerebral small vessel disease and cognitive impairment.

Development of a Front End Array for Broadband Phased Array Receiver

The receiver is a signal receiving device placed at the focus of the telescope.In order to improve the observation efficiency,the concept of phased array receiver has been proposed in recent years,which places a small phased array at the focal plane of the reflector,and flexible pattern and beam scanning functions can be achieved through a beamforming network.If combined with the element multiplexing,all beams within the entire field of view can be observed simultaneously to achieve continuous sky coverage.This article focuses on the front-end array of phased array receiver at 0.7-1.8 GHz for QiTai Telescope,and designs a Vivaldi antenna array of PCB structure with dual line polarization.Each polarization antenna is designed to arrange in a rectangle manner by 11×10.Based on the simulation results of the focal field,32,18,and eight elements were selected to form one beam at 0.7,1.25,and1.8 GHz.An analog beamforming network was constructed,and the measured gains of axial beam under uniform weighting were 19.32,13.72,and 15.22 dBi.Combining the beam scanning method of reflector antenna,the pattern test of different position element sets required for PAF beam scanning was carried out under independent array.The pattern optimization at 1.25 GHz was carried out by weighting method of conjugate field matching.Compared with uniform weighting,the gain,sidelobe level,and main beam direction under conjugate field matching have been improved.Although the above test and simulation results are slightly different,which is related to the passive array and laboratory testing condition,the relevant work has accumulated experience in the development of the front-end array for the phased array receiver,and has good guiding significance for future performance verification after the array is installed on the telescope.
