Flowers are composed of organs whose identity is defined by the combinatorial activity of transcription factors(TFs).The interactions between mADS-box TFs and protein complex formation have been schematized in the floral quartet model of flower development.The gynoecium is the flower’s female reproductive part,crucial for fruit and seed production and,hence,for reproductive success.After the establishment of carpel identity,many tissues arise to form a mature gynoecium.TFs have been described as regulators of gynoecium development,and some interactions and complexes have been identified.However,broad knowledge about the interactions among these TFs and their participation during development remains scarce.In this study,we used a systems biology approach to understand the formation of a complex reproductive unit—as the gynoecium—by mapping binary interactions between well-characterized TFs.We analyzed almost 4500 combinations and detected more than 250 protein-protein interactions(PPIs),resulting in a process-specific interaction map.Topological analyses suggest hidden functions and novel roles for many TFs.In addition,we observed a close relationship between TFs involved in auxin and cytokinin-signaling pathways and other TFs.Furthermore,we analyzed the network by combining PPI data,expression,and genetic data,which helped us to dissect it into several dynamic spatio-temporal subnetworks related to gynoecium development processes.Finally,we generated an extended PPI network that predicts new players in gynoecium development.Taken together,all these results serve as a valuable resource for the plant community.

Population dynamics of three lizard species from the genus Sceloporus:short-term changes in demographic parameters

most demographic studies focus on numerical changes that occur within populations across years.However,typically studies at an interannual scale do not provide information on the particular times of the year(particular months or seasons)when rates of survival,recruitment,or migration increase or decrease due to physiological,behavioral or ecological processes.These monthly or seasonal changes in demographic parameters may lead to substantial variations in population abundance.In this study,we collected capture-mark-recapture data on 3 species of lizards of the genus Sceloporus(Sceloporus torquatus,Sceloporus grammicus and Sceloporus megalepidurus)found in ecologically similar habitats to examine potential changes in demographic rates among 3 different climatic seasons:rainy,cold-dry and warm-dry seasons.We tested different hypotheses about the effect of these seasons on survival,recruitment of new adults,and temporary emigration.We found that during the season with severe thermal constraints,the cold-dry season,survival of S.torquatus decreased markedly.We also detected a considerable increase in the recruitment rate of S.grammicus during the rainy season,when these lizards are establishing territories and finding mates.In contrast,we found no evidence of intra-annual changes in the rate of temporary emigration.In addition,we calculated abundance and population growth rates for each species and for each season.Our study represents a significant contribution to the understanding of intra-annual demographic variation in lizards.

Background:The mobilization and redistribution of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Cov-2)specific T-cells and neutralizing antibodies(nAbs)during exercise is purported to increase immune surveillance and protect against severe coronavirus disease 2019(COvID-19).We sought to determine if COvID-19 vaccination would elicit exercise-responsive SARS-Cov-2 T-cells and transiently alter nAb titers.methods:Eighteen healthy participants completed a 20-min bout of graded cycling exercise before and/or after receiving a COvID-19 vaccine.All major leukocyte subtypes were enumerated before,during,and after exercise by flow cytometry,and immune responses to SARS-Cov-2 were determined using whole blood peptide stimulation assays,T-cell receptor(TCR)-βsequencing,and SARS-Cov-2 nAb serology.Results:COvID-19 vaccination had no effect on the mobilization or egress of major leukocyte subsets in response to intensity-controlled graded exercise.However,non-infected participants had a significantly reduced mobilization of CD4+and CD8+naive T-cells,as well as CD4+central memory T-cells,after vaccination(synthetic immunity group);this was not seen after vaccination in those with prior SARS-Cov-2 infection(hybrid immunity group).Acute exercise after vaccination robustly mobilized SARS-Cov-2 specific T-cells to blood in an intensity-dependent manner.Both groups mobilized T-cells that reacted to spike protein;however,only the hybrid immunity group mobilized T-cells that reacted to membrane and nucleocapsid antigens.nAbs increased significantly during exercise only in the hybrid immunity group.Conclusion:These data indicate that acute exercise mobilizes SARS-Cov-2 specific T-cells that recognize spike protein and increases the redistribution of nAbs in individuals with hybrid immunity.

鉴于析氢反应(HER)与制氢技术直接相关,而氢气是氢经济中的能量载体,因此,深入理解析氢反应(HER)速率的控制参数非常重要.前期关于碱性介质中Ni(OH)_(2)修饰的Pt(111)上激光诱导温度跃迁(LITJ)实验结果已经揭示了界面电场对HER速率有较大影响.推测认为,少量的Ni(OH)_(2)会使电极的零自由电荷电势向析氢开始的方向负移,从而导致电场减弱.为进一步验证这一推测,本文将研究对象扩展到Fe(OH)_(2)修饰的Pt(111)表面,对其伏安特性进行分析.伏安图在析氢区域显示出一个峰,表明修饰层发生Fe(Ⅱ)到Fe(0)的转变.与库仑分析结果一致,OH吸附区的伏安特征与Fe物种被氧化至+3价有关.LITJ结果显示,亲氧的Fe物质与水分子之间存在强烈的相互作用,其使熵最大处的电势远离HER的开始电势.因此,最具催化性的表面应该是Fe覆盖度最低的表面.

Adenomatous polyposis(AP)is classified according to cumulative adenoma number in classical AP(CAP)and attenuated AP(AAP).Genetic susceptibility is the major risk factor in CAP due to mutations in the known high predisposition genes APC and mUTYH.However,the contribution of genetic susceptibility to AAP is lower and less understood.New predisposition genes have been recently proposed,and some of them have been validated,but their scarcity hinders accurate risk estimations and prevalence calculations.AAP is a heterogeneous condition in terms of severity,clinical features and heritability.Therefore,clinicians do not have strong discriminating criteria for the recommendation of the genetic study of known predisposition genes,and the detection rate is low.Elucidation and knowledge of new AAP high predisposition genes are of great importance to offer accurate genetic counseling to the patient and family members.This review aims to update the genetic knowledge of AAP,and to expound the difficulties involved in the genetic analysis of a highly heterogeneous condition such as AAP.

Bedrock outcropping in the accumulation zone of the largest glacier in mexico(Glaciar Norte of Citlaltépetl),as evidence of a possible accelerated extinction

The highest volcano in mexico,at the same time the third largest mountain in North America(Citlaltépetl,5610 m a.s.l.),is home to the largest glacier in the country.Because of the extinction of the Popocatépetl glacier(5500 m a.s.l.)caused by eruptive activity,and the almost disappearance of the Iztaccíhuatl glaciers(5220 m a.s.l.)due to the lower elevation of the mountain,the Glaciar Norte of Citlatépetl has been the only glacier that has shown a certain degree of stability as a response to the altitude in which it is located.However,as occurs in almost all glaciers on the planet,the retreat of its glacier terminus has been continuous.Furthermore,during the last years the thickness of its upper part began to decrease rapidly until its bedrock was exposed for the first time in 2019.Due to its ecosystem importance and because it is the main glacier in mexico,as well as the only one in the world located at latitude 19°N,in this work its current dimensions are updated,as well as the local climatology that governs the current state of the glacier is pointed out.The study was based on the analysis of high-resolution Sentinel-2 optical images,as well as through Sentinel-1 SAR images,with the support of climatological information from the study area.Therefore,the outcropping of the bedrock in the accumulation zone and the consequent horizontal retreat of the upper part of the glacier are documented;at the same time,the decrease in the thickness of the ice along it is noted.The rocky outcrop in the accumulation zone suggests that the flow dynamics of the ice towards the ablation zone will be considerably less,accelerating the retreat of the glacier terminus.Finally,the ascent of the glacial front to 5102 m a.***.l.and the modelled altitude of the equilibrium line to 5276 m a.***.l.are reported as a warning signal in terms of snow catchment and mass balance;likewise,the decrease of 23%of its surface is also indicated regarding the surface reduction monitoring that has been done until 2017.These findings may indicate that the

Pedogenesis along chronosequences has received attention from soil scientists for decades,following the pioneering work of Walker and Syers(1976),who showed a general pattern of the availability of nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)subsequently confirmed for a range of chronosequences(Huggett 1998;Turner and Condron 2013;vitousek and Farrington 1997).much more recently,changes of plant nutrient-acquisition strategies with soil development have drawn attention,first with a conceptual model(Lambers et al.2008),which was subsequently confirmed with solid experimental data collected along the Jurien Bay chronosequence in south-western Australia(zemunik et al.2015).The original conceptual model has since been amended,to explain why presumably less-effective mycorrhizal P-acquisition strategies coexist with more-effective strategies based on the release carboxylates(organic anions)(Lambers et al.2018).mycorrhizas may not be effective at acquiring P from severely P-impoverished soils,but they do boost the defence against pathogens,which strongly affect the growth of non-mycorrhizal carboxylate-releasing Proteaceae(Albornoz et al.2017;Lalibertéet al.2015).What has received little or no attention is the P-acquisition strategies of species that are the first to colonize the bare regolith of the earliest stage of chronosequences(Figs 1 and 2).When the soil P availability is relatively high such as along the Jurien Bay chronosequence(Turner et al.2018),there is little point searching for specialized strategies,but along many chronosequences,i.***.not the case(Egli et al.2012;Richardson et al.2004;zhou et al.2019).

Correcting the Gutenberg–Richter b-value for effects of rounding and noise

The effects of magnitude rounding and of the presence of noise in the rounded magnitudes on the estimation of the Gutenberg-Richter b-value are explored, and the ways to correct for these effects are proposed. For typical values, b = 1 and rounding interval △m = 0.1, the rounding error is approximately -10^-3 and it can be corrected to a negligible approximately -10^-5. For the same typical values, the effect of noise can be larger, depending on the characteristics of the noise distribution; for normally distributed noise with standard deviation σ = 0.1, the correct b-value may be underestimated by a factor - 0.97.

The South American grey fox Lycalopex griseus is a canid widely distributed in southern South America;however,some aspects of its biology are still poorly known.We studied the diet and density of L.griseus in the Lago Peñuelas Biosphere Reserve,in Central Chile.The trophic niche breadth was B=6.16(B_(sta)=0.47)and prey diversity was H′=2.46(H_(max)′=3.17,J′=0.78).The highest proportions of prey consumed in the diet were Oryctolagus cuniculus(52.21%)and other mammals(32.78%).We compared these results with a latitudinal gradient of diet results for this species in Chile.L.griseus eats mostly mammals(>90%of total prey),consuming the rodent Phyllotis darwini and reptiles in the northern zone;Oryctolagus cuniculus,Octodon degus and Abrocoma bennetti in the central zone;Abrothrix spp.and lagomorphs in the southern zone;and Lepus capensis and Ovis aries in the austral zone.The estimated density of L.griseus in Lago Peñuelas NR was 1.3 foxes/km^(2).

Effects of Plant Extracts and Beauveria bassiana on the Activity of Defense-Related Enzymes in Solanum lycopersicum L.during Interaction with Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.lycopersici

The objective to this work was to evaluate the enzymatic activity in the culture of Solanum lycopersicum L.infected with Fusarium oxysporum after the combined application of Beauveria bassiana and plant extracts.Solanum lycopersicum plantlets were transplanted 15 days after the emergency.Five days after transplanting,Beauveria bassiana spores were applied at a concentration of 1×10^(7)spores mL^(−1)onto soil(along with A.indica(N)and P.auritum(H)leaf extracts)where S.lycopersicum plants were planted.Eight days after transplanting,spores of F.oxysporum strain were applied at a concentration of 1×10^(6)spores mL^(−1)to soil where S.lycopersicum plants were growing.The development of S.lycopersicum plants was monitored for 114 days,whereby a random.zed complete block treatment design was used,the roots of the plants were crushed with liquid nitrogen,after which Uv/vIS spectrophotometry was used to determine protein concentration,as well as the activity ofβ-1,3-glucanases,peroxidases(POX,EC1.***.1.7),catalase and chitinases.The treatments combining B.bassiana and A.indica and P.auritum extracts,had a significant difference in enzymatic activity levels,thus contributing to better defense mechanisms and a greater protection to S.lycopersicum plants in the presence of F.oxysporum.The application of B.bassiana and plant extracts to the ground mitigated damage caused by F.oxysporum on S.lycopersicum plants.
