Inspired by previous work of Diaz, Petit, Serna, and Trevisan (Approximating layout problems on random graphs, Discrete Mathematics, 235, 2001, 245-253), we show that several well-known graph layout problems are approximable to within a factor arbitrarily close to 1 of the optimal with high probability for random graphs drawn from an Erdös-Renyi distribution with appropriate sparsity conditions using only elementary probabilistic analysis. Moreover, we show that the same results hold for the analogous problems on directed acyclic graphs.

The fate of cells and subsequent bone regeneration is highly correlated with temporospatial coordination of chemical,biological,or physical cues within a local tissue *** understanding of how mammalian cells react to local tissue microenvironment is paramount important when designing next generation of biomaterials for tissue *** study aims to investigate that the regulation of magnesium cationic(Mg^2+)tissue microenvironment is able to convince early-stage bone regeneration and its mechanism undergoes intramembranous *** was discovered that moderate Mg^2+content niche(~4.11 mM)led to superior bone regeneration,while Mg^2+-free and strong Mg^2+content(~16.44 mM)discouraged cell adhesion,proliferation and osteogenic differentiation,thereby bone formation was rarely *** magnesium ions diffused into free Mg zone from concentrated zone in late time point,new bone formation on free Mg zone became significant through intramembranous *** study successfully demonstrates that magnesium cationic microenvironment serves as an effective biochemical cue and is able to modulate the process of bony tissue *** knowledge of how a Mg^2+cationic microenvironment intertwines with cells and subsequent bone formation gained from this study may provide a new insight to develop the next generation of tissuerepairing biomaterials.

The design of orthopedic biomaterials has gradually shifted from“immune-friendly”to“immunomodulatory,”in which the biomaterials are able to modulate the inflammatory response via macrophage polarization in a local immune microenvironment that favors osteogenesis and implant-to-bone *** the well-known effects of bioactive metallic ions on osteogenesis,how extracellular metallic ions manipulate immune cells in bone tissue microenvironments toward osteogenesis and subsequent bone formation has rarely been ***,we investigate the osteoimmunomodulatory effect of an extracellular bioactive cation(Mg^(2+))in the bone tissue microenvironment using custom-made poly lactic-co-glycolic acid(PLGA)/MgO-alendronate microspheres that endow controllable release of magnesium *** results suggest that the Mg^(2+)-controlled tissue microenvironment can effectively induce macrophage polarization from the M0 to M2 phenotype via the enhancement of anti-inflammatory(IL-10)and pro-osteogenic(BMP-2 and TGF-β1)cytokines *** also generates a favorable osteoimmune microenvironment that facilitates the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem *** in vivo results further verify that a large amount of bony tissue,with comparable bone mineral density and mechanical properties,has been generated at an early post-surgical stage in rat intramedullary bone defect *** study demonstrates that the concept of in situ immunomodulated osteogenesis can be realized in a controlled magnesium tissue microenvironment.

Cryopreservation impairs sperm quality and functions,including motility and DNA *** additives in sperm freezing media have previously brought improvements in postthawed sperm *** tea extract(GTE)is widely considered as an excellent antioxidant,and its beneficial role has been proven in other human *** study aims to evaluate the GTE as a potential additive in cryopreservation media of human *** part one,the semen of 20 normozoospermic men was used to optimize the concentration of GTE that maintains sperm motility and DNA integrity against oxidative stress,induced by hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)).Spermatozoa were treated with GTE at different concentrations before incubation with H_(2)O_(2).In part two,the semen of 45 patients was cryopreserved with or without 1.0 ng ml^(-1)*** 2 weeks,the semen was thawed,and the effect on sperm motility and DNA fragmentation was *** data showed that GTE significantly protected sperm motility and DNA integrity against oxidative stress induced by H_(2)O_(2)when added at a final concentration of 1.0 ng ml^(-1).We found that the addition of 1.0 ng ml^(-1)GTE to cryopreservation media significantly increased sperm motility and DNA integrity(both Ptingly,patients with high sperm DNA damage benefited similarly from the GTE ***,there was no significant change in the reactive oxygen species(ROS)*** conclusion,supplementing sperm freezing media with GTE has a significant protective effect on human sperm motility and DNA integrity,which may be of clinical interest.

AIM:To review international guidelines and to share our infection control experience during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic at a tertiary eye centre in Hong ***:Infection control guidelines and recommendations from international ophthalmological bodies are reviewed and *** measures at our hospital were drawn up as per international and local health authorities’guidelines and implemented with the collaboration of doctors,nurses and administrative ***:The aims of our infection control measures are to 1)minimize cross-infection within the hospital;2)protect and support hospital staff;3)ensure environmental *** minimize the risk of cross-infection,outpatient attendance and elective surgery have been reduced by 40%,and general anesthesia procedures were reduced by 90%.Patients entering the hospital are screened for fever,travel history,contact and cluster history,and COVID-19 related *** protect and support hospital staff,we ensure provision of adequate personal protective equipment(PPE)and provide clear guidelines on the level of PPE needed,depending on the clinical *** protective measures include provision of work uniforms,easy access to alcohol-based hand rub,opening new lunch areas,implementation of self-monitoring and self-reporting systems,and communication via online education and ***,environmental control is achieved by ensuring regular disinfection of the hospital premise,enhancing ventilation,and usage of disposable ophthalmic ***:Our multi-pronged approach to infection control is,so far,successful in minimizing infection risks,while allowing the maintenance of essential ophthalmic services.
