Significance of differential allelic expression in phenotypic plasticity and evolutionary potential of microbial eukaryotes

Background:Differential allelic expression(DAE)plays a key role in the regularion of many biological processes,and it may also play a role in adaptive ***,environment-dependent DAE has been observed in species of marine phytoplankton,and most remarkably,alleles that showed the highest level of DAE also showed the fastest rate of ***:To better understand the role of DAE in adaptive evolution and phenotypic plasticity,we developed a 2-D cellular automata model“DAEsy-World”that builds on the classical Daisyworld ***:Simulations show that DAE delineates the evolution of alternative alleles of a gene,enabling the two alleles to adapt to different environmental conditions and *** DAE,the build-up of genetic polymorphisms within genes is driven by positive selection rather than strict neutral evolution,and this can enhance phenotypic ***,in sexually reproducing organisms,DAE also increased the standing genetic variation,augmenting a species’adaptive evolutionary potential and ability to respond to fluctuating and/or changing conditions(cf,genetic assimilation).We furthermore show that DAE is likely to evolve in fluctuating environmental ***:DAE increases the adaptive evolutionary potential of both sexual and asexually reproducing organisms,and it may affect the pattern of nucleotide substitutions of genes.

Al-Cu alloy was deformed through equal channel angular pressing(ECAp) by routes A,Ba,Bc and C up to 5 *** was done using a 90° die for three different conditions,namely 1) as received,2) solutionised at 768 K for 1 h and 3) solutionised at 768 K for 1 h + aged at 468 K for 5 *** microstructure,microhardness and tensile strength were studied for all the three conditions and four *** improvement in hardness(HV 184 after five passes) and strength(602 Mpa after three passes) was observed in solutionised and aged 2014 Al alloy deformed through route *** evolution was reasonably equiaxed in route Bc with aspect ratio of *** and aged 2014 Al alloy deformed through route Bc was identified to have better microstructure and mechanical property than the other processing routes and conditions.

Deviations from bulk morphologies in thin films of binary blends of alkyne-functionalized diblock copolymer poly（ethylene oxide）-bloek-poly（n-butyl methacrylate-random-propargyl methacrylate）（pEO-b-p（nBMA-r-pgMA）） and Rhodamine B azide are reported, where thermal click reaction between the two components leads to microphase separated morphologies. Both in the bulk and in thin films, increasing the azide loading ratio resulted in the u＇ansition from a lamellar microdomain morphology to a hexagonally packed cylindrical mireodomain morphology. However, in thin films the lamellae-cylinder transition was observed at a different azide loading ratio, which was determined by film thickness. As a result, significant deviations from the bulk morphology were observed. These results indicate that surface interactions and confined geometry can play an important role in dictating the morphology in thin films of BCp/additive binary blends.

We aim to evaluate the incidence of incontinence following laser endoscopic enucleation of the prostate(EEp)comparing en-bloc(Group 1)versus 2-lobe/3-lobe techniques(Group 2).We performed a retrospective review of patients undergoing EEp for benign prostaticenlargement in 12 centers between January 2020 and January *** were presented as median and interquartile range(IQR).Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate factors associated with stress urinary incontinence(SUI)and mixed urinary incontinence(MUI).There were 1711 patients in Group 1 and 3357 patients in Group *** in Group 2were significantly younger(68[62–73]years vs 69[63–74]years,p=0.002).Median(interquartile range)prostate volume(pV)wassimilar between the groups(70[52–92]ml in Group 1 vs 70[54–90]ml in Group 2,p=0.774).There was no difference in preoperativeInternational prostate Symptom Score,quality of life,or maximum flow ***,morcellation,and total surgical time weresignificantly shorter in Group *** 1 month,overall incontinence rate was 6.3%in Group 1 versus 5.3%in Group 2(p=0.12),and urge incontinence was significantly higher in Group 1(55.1%vs 37.3%in Group 2,pp 1 versus 2.3%in Group 2(p=0.06),and SUI was significantly higher in Group 2(55.6%vs 24.1%in Group 1,p=0.002).At multivariable analysis,pV and IpSS were factors significantly associated with higher odds of transient SUI/***,surgical time,and no early apical release technique were factors associated with higher odds of persistent SUI/MUI.

Big data technologies have seen tremendous growth in recent years. They are widely used in both industry and academia. In spite of such exponential growth, these technologies lack adequate measures to protect data from misnse/abuse. Corporations that collect data from multiple sources are at risk of liabilities due to the exposure of sensitive information. In the current implementation of Hadoop, only file-level access control is feasible. providing users with the ability to access data based on the attlibutes in a dataset or the user＇s role is complicated because of the sheer volume and multiple formats （structured, unstructured and semi-structured） of data. In this paper, we propose an access control framework, which enforces access control policies dynamically based on the sensitivity of the data. This framework enforces access control policies by harnessing the data context, usage patterns and informat/on sensitivity. Information sensitivity changes over time with the addition and removal of datasets, which can lead to modifications in access control decisions. The proposed framework accommodates these changes. The proposed framework is automated to a large extent as the data itself determines the sensitivity with minimal user intervention. Our experimental results show that the proposed framework is capable of enforcing access control policies on non-multimedia datasets with minimal overhead.

Sporadic venous malformations are genetic conditions primarily caused by somatic gain-of-function mutation of pIK3CA or TEK,an endothelial transmembrane receptor signaling through *** malformations are associated with pain,bleedings,thrombosis,pulmonary embolism,esthetic deformities and,in severe cases,life-threatening *** authorized medical treatment exists for patients with venous ***,we created a genetic mouse model of pIK3CA-related capillary venous malformations that replicates patient *** showed that these malformations only partially signal through AKT *** compared the efficacy of different drugs,including rapamycin,a mTORC1 inhibitor,miransertib,an AKT inhibitor and alpelisib,a pI3Kαinhibitor at improving the lesions seen in the mouse *** demonstrated the effectiveness of alpelisib in preventing vascular malformations’occurrence,improving the already established ones,and prolonging *** these findings,we were authorized to treat 25 patients with alpelisib,including 7 children displaying pIK3CA(n=16)or TEK(n=9)-related capillary venous malformations resistant to usual therapies including sirolimus,debulking surgical procedures or percutaneous *** assessed the volume of vascular malformations using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)for each *** demonstrated improvement in all 25 *** malformations previously considered intractable were reduced and clinical symptoms were *** showed a decrease of 33.4%and 27.8%in the median volume of pIK3CA and TEK malformations respectively,over 6 months on *** conclusion,this study supports pI3Kαinhibition as a promising therapeutic strategy in patients with pIK3CA or TEK-related capillary venous malformations.

Macroscopic SiO2 spheres with a homogeneous amine distribution were synthesized by a one-step emulsion based synthesis approach in a flow column reactor. The CO2 adsorption capacity of the nanostructured amine-functionalized silica spheres was studied in absence and presence of H2O. The structural properties were adjusted by varying solvents and surfactants during the synthesis and, at constant amine loadings, were found to be the main factor for influencing the CO2 sorption capacities. Under water-free conditions CO2 is bound to the amino groups via the formation of carbamates, which require two neighboring amino groups to adsorb one CO2 molecule. At constant amine concentrations sorbents with lower surface area allow to establish a higher amine density on the surface, which enhances the CO2 uptake capacities under dry conditions. In presence of H2O the CO2 adsorption changes to 1：1 stoichiometry due to stabilization of carbamates by protonation of H2O and formation of further species such as bicarbonates, which should in principle double the adsorption capacities. Low concentrations of physisorbed H2O（0.3 mmol/g） did not impair the adsorption capacity of the adsorbents for CO2, while at higher water uptakes（0.6 and 1.1 mmol/g） the CO2 uptake is reduced, which could be attributed to capillary condensation of H2O or formation of bulky reaction products blocking inner pores and access to active sites.

Let S be a denumerable state space and let p be a transition probability matrix on S. If a denumerable set M of nonnegative matrices is such that the sum of the matrices is equal to p, then we call M a partition of p. Let K denote the set of probability vectors on S. With every partition M of p we can associate a transition probability function pM on K defined in such a way that if p ∈ K and M ∈M are such that ｜｜pM｜｜〉 0, then, with probability ｜｜pM｜｜ the vector p is transferred to the vector pM/｜｜pM｜｜. Here ｜｜·｜｜ denotes the/1-norm. In this paper we investigate the convergence in distribution for Markov chains generated by transition probability functions induced by partitions of transition probability matrices. The main motivation for this investigation is the application of the convergence results obtained to filtering processes of partially observed Markov chains with denumerable state space.

While advanced technology,increased medical knowledge and improved surgical technique has improved patient outcomes in total joint arthroplasty,prosthetic joint infection still remains one of the leading causes of increased healthcare costs,medical resources and societal burdens in orthopaedic *** stage arthroplasty revision remains the gold standard for treatment of prosthetic joint *** of single stage revision arthroplasty for infection argue that it results in lower healthcare costs while improving patient reported functional outcomes and with equivalent success *** we review the history of single stage revision arthroplasty,discuss the key principles,highlight the indications and contraindications,and review the reported outcomes with a focus on future developments of single stage revision arthroplasty for hip and knee periprosthetic joint infections.
