Outcomes of patients older than 75 years with non-metastatic prostate cancer

Objective:Prostate cancer in elderly patients was formerly treated with androgen deprivation *** the latter of the 1990s new technologies were introduced into treatments,then strategies have *** aimed to observe the outcomes of elderly patients treated during transition period and compare each stage with ***:During 2008 and 2010,255 patients with prostate cancer older than 75 years were sequentially *** exception of patients with bone and/or visceral metastasis,outcomes of 199 patients with localized and locally advanced stages were *** records were obtained by the end of ***:In total,122(61%),28(14%),37(19%)and 12(6%)of patients were in stages T1c-T2a,T2b-c,T3 and T4,*** generally presented with abnormal screening or lower urinary tract ***-one percent of patients received androgen deprivation therapy as monotherapy and 22% of the radiation-treated patients added androgen deprivation *** in stage T1c-T2a and T2b-c showed a favorable *** cancer death appeared in patients with T3 and T4 during observation ***-seven percent of patients died from prostate cancer-independent complications:pneumonia,heart disease,and brain vascular *** is similar to that of Japanese elderly male *** remarkable side effects from androgen deprivation therapy were noticed.

Nd-doped SrA1204 （Nd：SrA1204） crystals were prepared by a floating zone （FZ） method with different dopant concentra- tions. The photoluminescence （PL） measurements under visible light excitations confirmed strong near infrared （NIR） emissions around 890 nm, which is due to the 4f-4f transitions of Nd3＋, and the decay time constants were 300-400 μs. Furthermore, VUV ex- citations revealed two broad emissions around 250450 and 500-700 run, which were attributed to self-trapped excitons （STEs） perturbed by Nd3＋. Moreover, the X-ray induced scintillation spectra showed some small peaks at around 380 nm in addition to NIR emissions at 1064 nm similarly seen in PL. The former scintillation decay time constants were 30-40 Its. In the undoped sample, these emissions mentioned above were not present but a weak broad emission around 450 nm appeared. In thermally stimulated lu- minescence （TSL） after X-ray irradiation, strong TSL glow peaks were observed in the Nd-doped samples at around 100 and 250 ℃.

We demonstrate that the methodology of frequency-resolved optical gating(FROG) is applicable to time-resolved reflection spectroscopy of a plasma mirror in the vacuum-ultraviolet(VUV) region. Our recent study [R. Itakura et al. Opt. Express 23, 10914(2015)] has shown that a VUV waveform can be retrieved from a VUV reflection spectrogram of a plasma mirror formed on a fused silica(FS) surface by irradiation with an intense femtosecond laser pulse. Simultaneously, the increase in the reflectivity with respect to the Fresnel reflection of the unexcited FS surface can be obtained as a time-dependent reflectivity of the plasma mirror. In this study, we update the FROG analysis procedure using the least-square generalized projections algorithm. This procedure can reach convergence much faster than the previous one and has no aliasing problem. It is demonstrated that a significantly chirped VUV pulse as long as 1 ps can be precisely characterized.

We directly analyzed occluding deposits in xylem elements of Quercus serrata produced as a defense response of sapwood against *** substances about 10μm across were analyzed by IR-SNOM （Infrared-Scanning Near-field Optical Microscopy） which was able to measure IR spectrum with high spatial *** such obtained near-field IR spectrum of occluding substances was hardly seen the C-H absorption band which should appear at 3000-2850 *** the other hand,the absorption band of ester bond exhibited very strong *** the near-field IR spectra of related compounds,the similar ester absorption peak was observed in the spectrum of pectin and tannic *** presence of C-H absorption band as a very week peak was similar to （+）-catechin and tannic acid.

Aims In a contact zone between related taxa,phenotypic variation can result from genetic and/or environmental *** study aimed to clarify the cause of phenotypic variation in leaf morphology of two Quercus crispula varieties—crispula(QCC)and mongolicoides(QCM)—in their contact zone along an altitudinal *** We measured 6 morphological traits of leaves and recorded genotypes of 13 nuclear microsatellite loci for 48 individuals in the contact zone and 24 individuals in each of the reference populations of QCC and *** constructed a model explaining the phenotypic variation(leaf morphology)in relation to environmental(altitude)and genetic(ancestry from the reference population)*** Findings Both morphological and genetic markers distinguished the two varieties in the reference populations *** were able to confirm the power of both morphological and genetic *** within the contact zone population had intermediate ancestry that was slightly biased to QCM ancestry,and the distribution of their morphologies overlapped with those of the two varieties in the reference *** effect of altitude on leaf morphological traits was significant,while that of ancestry was *** of ancestry and interclass heterozygosity in the contact zone population resembled those in F2 or later generation *** results indicate that in the contact zone between QCC and QCM,there is no ongoing hybridization,but environmental pressure has created an altitudinal gradient in morphological traits through phenotypic plasticity and/or variation in functional genes.

Using the covariant light-front approach with conventional vertex functions, we estimate the production rates of D-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons via the B_((s)) semileptonic decays. As the calculated production rates are significant, it seems possible to experimentally search for D-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons via semileptonic decays, which may provide an additional approach for exploring D-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons.
