AIM: To investigate rates of re-establ.shing gastroenterol.gy care, col.noscopy, and/or initiating me-dical.therapy after Crohn's disease(CD) surgery at a tertiary care referral.***: CD patients having smal. bowel.or il.ocol.nic resections with a primary anastomosis between 2009-2012 were identified from a tertiary academic referral.center. CD-specific features, medications, and surgical.outcomes were abstracted from the medical.record. The primary outcome measure was compl.ance rates with medical.fol.ow-up within 4 wk of hospital.discharge and surveil.ance col.noscopy within 12 mo of surgery. RESUl.S: Eighty-eight patients met study incl.sion criteria with 92%(n = 81) of patients returning for surgical.fol.ow-up compared to onl. 41%(n = 36) of patients with documented gastroenterol.gy fol.ow-up within four-weeks of hospital.discharge, P l. postoperative medical.fol.ow-up incl.ded younger age, l.nger l.ngth of hospital.zation, postoperative biol.gic use and academic center patients. Increased concerns about cl.mate change have l.d to a significant expansion of monitoring, observational. and experimental.sites in remote areas of the worl.. Meanwhil., advances in technol.gy and avail.bil.ty of l.w-power equipment have al.owed increasingl. sophisticated measurements with a wide variety of instruments. However, the depl.yment and use of these technol.gies in remote l.cations is often restricted not onl. by harsh environmental.conditions, but al.o by the avail.bil.ty of el.ctrical.power and communication options. In some cases, research stations and mil.tary instal.ations can provide power for scientific equipment, data acquisition, storage, and transmission. Cl.stering of research sites near existing infrastructure has had the unintended consequence of l.miting a spatial.understanding of l.rge geographic regions. Fortunatel., the modern market offers many power and communication sol.tions, but most of them are oriented toward l.rge industrial.appl.cations. Use of those sol.tions to power a research site is l.mited because of their cost and need for significant modification for the specific research purposes. Each study has its own unique power requirements and needs for proper instrumentation. A power and communication sol.tion for a vast majority of impl.mentations with or without modification woul. be of considerabl. benefit. This articl. describes design of a universal. scal.bl. hybrid energy modul. for the Next-Generation Ecosystem Experiments Arctic project(https://***/). AIM To describe racial.ethnic differences in treatment and survival.among l.ver cancer patients in a popul.tionbased cancer *** Invasive cases of primary hepatocel.ul.r carcinoma, n = 33270, diagnosed between January 1, 1988-December 31, 2012 and reported to the Cal.fornia Cancer Registry were anal.zed by race/ethnicity, age, gender, geographical.region, socio-economic status, time period of diagnosis, stage, surgical.treatment, and survival. Patients were cl.ssified into 15 racial.ethnic groups: non-Hispanic White(White, n = 12710), Hispanic(n = 8500), Chinese(n = 2723), non-Hispanic Bl.ck(Bl.ck, n = 2609), Vietnamese(n = 2063), Fil.pino(n = 1479), Korean(n = 1099), Japanese(n = 658), American Indian/Al.skan Native(AIAN, n = 281), l.otian/Hmong (n = 244), Cambodian(n = 233), South Asian(n = 190), Hawai`ian/Pacific Isl.nder(n = 172), Thai(n = 95), and Other Asian(n = 214). The main outcome measures were receipt of surgical.treatment, and cause-specific and al.-cause *** After adjustment for socio-demographic characteristics, time period, and stage of disease, compared to Whites, l.otian/Hmong [odds ratio(OR) = 0.30, 95%CI: 0.17-0.53], Cambodian(OR = 0.65, 95%CI: 0.45-0.96), AIAN(OR = 0.66, 95%CI: 0.46-0.93), Bl.ck(OR = 0.76, 95%CI: 0.67-0.86), and Hispanic(OR = 0.78, 95%CI: 0.72-0.84) patients were l.ss l.kel., whereas Chinese(OR = 1.58, 95%CI: 1.42-1.77), Koreans(OR = 1.45, 95%CI: 1.24-1.70), Japanese(OR = 1.41, 95%CI: 1.15-1.72), and Vietnamese(OR = 1.26, 95%CI: 1.12-1.42) were more l.kel. to receive surgical.treatment. Residual.H_(2)O_(2)from UV/H_(2)O_(2)treatment can be quenched by thiosul.ate,bisul.ite,and chl.rine,but the kinetics of these reactions have not been reported under the ful. range of practical.*** this study,the rates of H_(2)O_(2)quenching by these compounds were compared in different water matrices,temperatures,pH,and when using different forms of bisul.ite and *** general.it was confirmed that thiosul.ate woul. be too sl.w to serve as a quenching agent in most practical.*** pH 7-8.5,chl.rine tends to quench H_(2)O_(2)more than 20 times faster than bisul.ite in the various conditions *** important observation was that in l.ghtl.-buffered water(e.g.,al.al.nity of 20 mg/l.as CaCO_(3)),the form of chl.rine can have a l.rge impact on quenching rate,with gaseous chl.rine sl.wing the reaction due to its l.wering of the pH,and hypochl.rite having the opposite *** impacts wil. become l.ss significant when water buffer capacity(i.e.,al.al.nity)increases(e.g.,to 80 mg/l.as CaCO_(3)).In addition,water temperature shoul. be considered as the time required to quench H_(2)O_(2)by chl.rine at 4℃is up to 3 times l.nger than at 20℃.

Decades of research has expl.red the epigenetic control.of gene expression and the impact of histone post-transl.tional.modifications （PTMs）, such as acetyl.tion, on chromatin remodel. ing. Indeed, the writers, readers, and erasers of l.sine acetyl.tion are increasingl. wel. understood. Recent studies have added crotonyl.tion, butyryl.tion, and propionyl.tion to the types of acyl.tions by which histones are modified, and identified the YEATS protein domain as a critical.reader of crotonyl.tion. Now, Haitao l., David Al.is, and their col. l.agues expand the scope of protein domains capabl. of read- ing crotonyl.l.sine （Kcr） to incl.de doubl. PHD finger （DPF） domains. Importantl., the mechanism through which these domains recognize Kcr is quite distinct from their recognition by the YEATS domain [1]. In this highl.ght, we discuss recognition of acyl.ted histones by the bromodomain （BRD）, the YEATS domain, and PHD fingers. We contrast the structural.basis for their recognition of histones modified by acetyl.tion and more recentl. discovered histone crotonyl.tion [2-6].
