Chemical composition data via EDS (X-Ray Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) can be collected simultaneously with crystallographic orientation data via EBSD (Electron Backscatter Diffraction) in appropriately configured scanning electron microscopes (SEM). Combining EDS with EBSD can provide a dramatic improvement in the reliability of the orientation mapping results in materials with multiple phases where the phases have similar crystallographic structures but different chemical composition. in order to obtain reliable orientation maps in multiphase materials via EBSD it is critical to be able to reliably differentiate the constituent phases. Automated EBSD or Orientation imaging Microscopy (OiM) systems are being used in combination with other equipment within the scanning electron microscope (SEM) to perform in-situ measurements. This paper briefly reviews OiM studies of in-situ experiments performed using tensile and heating stages as well as in-situ serial sectioning. in particular, in-situ OiM scan results on an aluminum alloy sample deformed in tension; phase transformations in a cobalt sample, recrystallization and grain growth in a copper sample and serial sectioning of a nickel super-alloy sample are reviewed.

Barrett’s oesophagus(BO)is a usually indolent condition that occasionally requires endoscopic *** ablation(RFA)is an effective endoscopic treatment for high grade dysplasia(HGD)and intramucosal cancer in *** has a good efficacy,durability and safety profile although complications can *** we describe a case of RFA in a patient with high grade *** the response to treatment was initially very good with the development of neosquamous epithelium,the patient very rapidly developed a squamous cell cancer of the oesophagus confirmed on radiology,histology and *** sequencing confirmed that the original HGD and the squamous cell cancer(SCC)were derived from separate clonal *** report highlights the fact that SCC of the oesophagus has been noted after endoscopic ablation for BO previously and suggest that ablation of BO may encourage the clonal expansion of cells carrying carcinogenic mutations once a dominant clonal population has been eradicated.

AiM To investigate the impact of medication beliefs, illness perceptions and quality of life on medication adherence in people with decompensated *** One hundred adults with decompensated cirrhosis completed a structured questionnaire when they attended for routine outpatient hepatology review. Measures of self-reported medication adherence(Morisky Medication Adherence Scale), beliefs surrounding medications(Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire), perceptions of illness and medicines(Brief illness Perception Questionnaire), and quality of life(Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire) were examined. Clinical data were obtained via patient history and review of medical records. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator and stepwise backwards regression techniques were used to construct the multivariable logistic regression model. Statistical significance was set at alpha = *** Medication adherence was " High " in 42 % o f participants, "Medium" in 37%, and "Low" in 21%. Compared to patients with "High" adherence, those with "Medium" or "Low" adherence were more likely to report difficulty affording their medications(P ion of treatment helpfulness(P = 0.003) and stronger medication concerns relative to medication necessity beliefs(P = 0.003). People with "Low" adherence also experienced greater symptom burden and poorer quality of life, including more frequent abdominal pain(P = 0.023), shortness of breath(P = 0.030), and emotional disturbances(P = 0.050). Multivariable analysis identified having stronger medication concerns relative to necessity beliefs(Necessity-Concerns Differential ≤ 5, OR = 3.66, 95%Ci: 1.18-11.40) and more frequent shortness of breath(shortness of breath score ≤ 3, OR = 3.87,95%Ci: 1.22-12.25) as independent predictors of "Low"*** The association between "Low" adherence and patients having strong concerns or doubting the necessity or helpfulness of their medications should be explor
