Use of the DSI/Ponemah jacketed external telemetry system for ECG assessments in dog telemetry

Investigation of fertility and early embryonic toxicity of caffeine in rats

Manipulative skill competency and health-related physical fitnes in elementary school students

Background：Improving motor skill competency and enhancing health-related physical fitnes are desired learning outcomes for school-aged *** motor skill competency and a healthy level of physical fitnes lay a foundation for being a physically active person across a *** purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between levels of manipulative skill competency and physical fitnes for elementary school boys and ***：In this study,565 fourth-grade students and their 9 physical education teachers were voluntary *** students were assessed in 4 basic specialized manipulative skills and 4 fitnes components during regular physical education *** were analyzed with descriptive statistics,univariate analyses,and multiple R2 liner regression ***：Boys were more proficien at the manipulative skills than girls,while girls had significan higher percentages for meeting the healthy fitnes zone for the fitnes tests than *** manipulative skills significant y predicted progressive aerobic cardiovascular endurance run（PACER）,push-up,and trunk lifts tests at p〈0.05 level,but not curl-up test for both boys and *** and girls in the skill-competent group significant y outperformed their counterparts in the skill-incompetent group on PACER,push-up,and trunk lifts tests at p〈0.05 level,with an exception of curl-up ***：The more competent in manipulative skills,the higher healthy level in cardiovascular endurance,upper-body muscular strength and endurance,and fl xibility the students *** manipulative skill competence and maintaining a healthy level of physical fitnes are 2 major desired learning outcomes for elementary school students to be able to achieve.

Effectiveness of quality physical education in improving students' manipulative skill competency

Purpose： This study aimed to examine the extent to which the quality physical education teaching （QPET） practices contributed to improving 4th- and 5th-grade students＇ manipulative skill competency. Methods： Participants were 9 elementary physical education （PE） teachers and their 4th- and 5th-grade students （n = 2709 3420）. The students＇ skill competency was assessed with 3 manipulative skills using PE metrics assessment rubrics. The PE teachers＇ levels of QPET were assessed by coding 63 videotaped lessons using the assessing quality teaching rubrics （AQTR）, which consisted of 4 essential dimensions including task design, task presentation, class management, and instructional guidance. Codes were confirmed through inter-rater reliability （82.4%, 84.5%, and 94%）. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple R2 regression models, and independent sample t tests. Results： This study indicated that the 4 essential dimensions of QPET were all significant contributors to students＇ manipulative skill competency. These predictors were significantly higher for boys than for girls in soccer and striking skills, while they were significantly higher for girls than for boys in throwing skill competency. Of the 4 essential dimensions of QPET, task presentation played the most significant role in contributing to all 3 skill competencies for both boys and girls. Further, students who experienced high QPET were significantly more skillfully competent than those students who did not have this experience. Conclusion： It was concluded that the QPET practices played a significantly critical role in contributing to students＇ manipulative skill competency.

An meta-analysis was performed for control animals from over 25 toxicology studies to assess potential differences in body weight gain and food consumption between Sprague-Dawley rats sourced from commercial suppliers in the USA(Charles River-"CR"),***(Vital River-"VR") and Taiwan(BioLasco-"BL").The mean body weight and food consumption was calculated weekly for animals in the age range 6 to 35 *** to approximately 15 weeks of age,CR males were generally lighter than BL males,after this time the growth rate of the CR males appeared to exceed that of those from BL.A similar pattern was seen for female rats with the CR animals exhibiting lower body weight than BL rats before approximately 11 weeks of *** age 11 weeks the CR rats were heavier than BL *** VR animals, initial growth was similar to CR rats,and followed closer to the BL growth rate from approximately week *** general, the CR male and female SD rats grew faster than those from either BL or *** the male rats there were no clear differences in food consumption between CR and BL animals,in comparison food consumption for the VR rats was a little lower. For the females,CR rats tended to show a higher food intake than both BL and VR,with the food for consumption from animals from the latter two sources being generally *** observed differences between the three sources of animals demonstrate the need to be consistent in the source of animals for different studies in toxicology development programs with a single compound,and also the need for maintaining separate back ground data bases.

To evaluate the use of respiratory "head out" plethysmographys for use as a respiratory function assessment tool in rats as part of the respiratory system assessment required under the ICH S7A ***(20 mg·kg~(-1) iv) and Theophylline(10 mg·kg~(-1)iv) were selected for use as reference compounds in this *** Sprague- Dawley rats,approximately 7 -8 weeks of age and in the weight range 246 -303 g were selected as the test *** approximate one week acclimation period preceded the study,during which animals were pre-selected for the suitability by assessment of their ability to stay in the restraint chambers("head-out" plethysmographys) for a target of about 2.5 h-Any rat demonstrating excessive excitability or abnormal breathing patterns were removed from the *** the day of dosing, animals were placed in "head out" plethysmographs and allowed to acclimate to the chambers for at least 5 min prior to each data collection *** following the acclimation period,ventilatory parameters(tidal volume,respiratory rate,and derived respiratory minute volume(RMV) were measured for an approximate 15 min period predose,continuously for the following approximate 2.5 h,then for approximate 15 min at approximately 4 and 24 h *** obtained were consistent with the literature and based on the results of this study,this assay,using respiratory "head out" plethysmographys to assess respiratory function,is considered acceptable for use in Pulmonary assessments under the ICH guideline.
