Purpose: To determine the role of prophylactic antib.otic use in preventing endophthalmitis following intravitreal injections of Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Agents (anti-VEGF).Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted for studies reporting the rates of endophthalmitis following injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agents for a variety of disorders. Inclusion criteria included reporting how many patients were given post-injection antib.otic drops, and how many patients were diagnosed with endophthalmitis (b.th with and without antib.otic drops). Results: The reported rate of endophthalmitis following intravitreal anti-VEGF agents has varied significantly b.sed on the study, with a range b.tween 0.009% to 0.87%. In our meta-analysis, the rate of endophthalmitis in patients receiving post-injection antib.otics was found to b. 0.081%, compared to 0.072% for patients who did not receive antib.otics. This difference was not found to b. statistically significant. Conclusion: Although the rate of endophthalmitis is extremely low following intravitreal anti-VEGF injections, the controversy regarding the b.st prevention of this dreaded complication continues. According to our meta-analysis, the answer does not seem to lie in post-injection antib.otic use.

Au has b.en loaded （1% wt.） on different commercial oxide supports （CuO, La2O3, Y2O3, NiO） b. three different methods： doub.e impregnation （DIM）, liquid-phase reductive deposition （LPRD）, and ultrasonication （US）. Samples were characterised b. N2 adsorption at -196℃, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry, high-angle annular dark-field imaging （Z-contrast）, X-ray diffraction, and temperature programmed reduction. CO oxidation was used as a test reaction to compare the catalytic activities. The b.st results were ob.ained with Au loaded b. DIM on the NiO support, with an activity of 7.2 × 10^（-4） molco·gAu^（-1）·s^（-1） at room temperature. This is most likely related to the Au nanoparticle size b.ing the smallest in this catalyst （average 4.8 nm）, since it is well known that gold particle size determines the catalytic activity. Other samples, having larger Au particle sizes （in the 2-12 nm range, with average sizes ranging from 4.8 to 6.8 nm）, showed lower activities. Nevertheless, all samples prepared b. DIM had activities （from 1.1 × 10^（-4） to 7.2 × 10^（-4） molco·gAu^（-1）·S^（-1）, at room temperature） ab.ve those reported in the literature for gold on similar oxide supports. Therefore, this method gives b.tter results than the most usual methods of deposition-precipitation or co-precipitation.

XRD,XPS and *** characterization results showed the presence of NiO in nanograins and its polycrystalline nature with ionic *** sensing studies of NiO nanograins were performed towards the pulmonary disease b.eath markers and they showed b.tter response towards formaldehyde vapour at 350℃.Calcined NiO grains showed a good response towards the 11-1145 ppm of formaldehyde vapour at the operating temperature of 350℃.NiO nanograins also showed quick response time(37 s)and recovery time(14 s)towards 46 ppm of formaldehyde.A sensing mechanism was proposed for the formaldehyde vapour interaction at 350℃ with NiO nanograins.
