Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas is a low-grade malignant tumor that predominantly affects young women in their third and fourth *** and risk factors are *** symptoms are aspecific and most commonly due to mass *** is made by computed tomography scan or magnetic resonance imaging and histological characterization is obtained by endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle ***,these lesions are composed by both solid and pseudopapillary structures with necrotic and hemorrhagic ***,the biological behavior is aggressive with tumor recurrence and distant ***,curative r0 surgical resection is the best option able to provide long term survival even in advanced *** disease is the main predictor of poor *** and radiotherapy regimens are not well ***,they could be effective in reducing tumor size as neoadjuvant treatment or disease control in palliative *** complete surgical resection provides a cure rate of>95%,considering young age of the patients and morbidity associated to pancreatic surgery,further studies are needed to better investigate risk factors and responsiveness to hormones in order to allow early diagnosis and follow up strategies that could avoid unnecessary surgery in less aggressive disease.

Amine-rich carbon nitride nanoparticles:Synthesis,covalent functionalization with proteins and application in a fluorescence quenching assay

carbon nitride nanoparticles (cNNPs) have been employed as fluorescent sensing tools owing to their unique features, e.g. low cost production, high stability in water and high photoluminescence quantum yield. here, an easy and versatile synthetic approach was exploited to design fluorescent nanoparticles with surface functionalities suitable for covalent binding to bioligands. high hydrophilic, brightly fluorescent cNNPs, rich of superficial amines, were obtained from the thermal condensation of urea and lysine (cNNP^Lys) and by tuning the precursor ratio and the heating time. Structure and size of the functionalized nanoparticles were characterized through infrared (Ir) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). Their optical properties were studied by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) and fluorescence spectroscopy. The superficial primary amino groups, furnished by the lysine co-precursor, enabled for covalently linking cNNP^Lys to model proteins. The cNNP^Lys-protein conjugates excited under UV irradiation emit in the 400-450 nm visible range (quantum yield 24%). The applicability of cNNP^Lys as novel fluorescent probes was demonstrated by a fluorescence quenching assay, in which gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were attached to Staphylococcal protein A and employed to quench the cNNP^Lys fluorescence by Forster resonant energy transfer (FrET). The quenching occurred upon formation of the specific binding between the GNP-linked protein A and cNNP^Lys-tagged immunoglobulins, while the inhibition of the binding resulted in the recovery of cNNP^Lys luminescence. The synthetic strategy, based on combining a "conjugated polymer"-forming unit (urea) and a co-precursor able to provide the desired functional group (lysine), allows designing innovative materials for the development of new generation fluorescence biosensors in which easily functionalized fluorophores are needed.

Size-dependent structural and magnetic properties of chemically synthesized co-Ni-Ga nanoparticles

Phase transitions and magnetic properties of shape-memory materials can be tailored by tuning the size of the constituent materials, such as nanoparticles. however, owing to the lack of suitable synthetic methods for size-controlled heusler nanoparticles, there is no report on the size dependence of their properties and functionalities. In this contribution, we present the first chemical synthesis of size-selected co-Ni-Ga heusler nanoparticles. We also report the structure and magnetic properties of the biphasic co-Ni-Ga nanoparticles with sizes in the range of 30-84 nm, prepared by a SBA-15 nanoporous silica- templated approach. The particle sizes could be readily tuned by controlling the loading and concentration of the precursors. The fractions and crystallite sizes of each phase of the co-Ni-Ga nanoparticles are closely related to their particle size. Enhanced magnetization and decreased coercivity are observed with increasing particle size. The curie temperature （To） of the co-Ni-Ga nanoparticles also depends on their size. The 84 nm-sized particles exhibit the highest Tc （≈ 1,174 K） among all known heusler compounds. The very high curie temperatures of the co-Ni-Ga nanoparticles render them promising candidates for application in high-temperature shape memory alloy-based devices.

The coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19)pandemic has caused detrimental effects on many aspects of healthcare *** programs for the commonest malignancies,namely colorectal cancer(crc),breast cancer and cervical cancer have been discontinued or interrupted since the beginning of restriction measures aimed to limit transmission of the new coronavirus *** evidence exists in favour of the role of screening campaigns in reducing mortality from *** fact,the majority of pre-malignant lesions of the colon and rectum can be diagnosed with colonoscopy and treated by endoscopic or surgical ***,colonoscopy screening allows the diagnosis of crcs in their pre-clinical *** was one of the first European countries where a high level of cOVID-19 infections and deaths was observed,and one of the first where lockdowns and strict measures were adopted to reduce the risk of cOVID-19 diffusion among the population.A systematic review of the literature was performed,including the PubMed,Scopus,Web of Sciences,and reference citation Analysis databases,with the aim of critically evaluating the impact of the cOVID-19 pandemic on crc screening in *** found that reduction of crc screening activity surpassed 50%in most endoscopic units,with almost 600000 fewer crc screening exams conducted in the first 5 mo of 2020 vs the same period of *** the consequences of the discontinuation of endoscopy screening for the prognosis and mortality of crc will be evident in the next few years,recent data confirm that crc is currently treated at a more advanced stage than in the pre-cOVID-19 *** delays in crc prevention and early diagnosis may translate to increased crc-specific mortality,world healthcare systems should adopt strategies to maintain the regularity of crc screening during subsequent peaks of the cOVID-19 pandemic,or future events that might hamper screening programs.

Development of an hPLc–UV assay method for the simultaneous quantification of nine antiretroviral agents in the plasma of hIV-infected patients

A new method using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with ultra violet detection(hPLc–UV)was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantification of atazanavir,dolutegravir,darunavir,efavirenz,etravirine lopinavir,raltegravir,rilpivirine and tipranavir in human *** the first time we reported here the development and validation of an hPLc–UV assay to quantify the frequently administered 9antiretroviral compounds including dolutegravir and rilpivirine.A simple solid phase extraction procedure was applied to 500 μL aliquots of *** chromatographic separation of the drugs and internal standard(quinoxaline) was achieved with a gradient of acetonitrile and sodium acetate buffer on a c_(18) reverse-phase analytical column with a 25 min analytical run *** curves were optimised according to the therapeutic range of drug concentrations in patients,and the coefficient of determination(r^2) was higher than0.99 for all *** intraday and interday precisions(rSD) for all compounds were less than 15.0%,and the mean accuracy(% deviation from nominal concentration) was also found to be less than 15.0%.Extraction recovery range was between 80% and 120% for all drugs *** solid phase extraction and hPLc–UV method enable a specific,sensitive,and reliable simultaneous determination of nine antiretroviral agents in *** extraction efficiency and low limit of hPLc–UV quantification make this method suitable for use in clinical trials and therapeutic drug monitoring.

The present results showed that uptake of dopamine (DA) by rat isolated hep-atocytes was mediated, in addition to simple diffusion, mainly by a transporter-involved process, with Km of 66. 8 μmol and Vmax of 52. 3 pmol·min-1/105 cells. The process was ph- and temperature-dependent and required an activation energy of 4. 12 kcal ·mol-1(Q10 = 1.25) in the range of 2.0-12.7 c and 13.0 kcal·mol -1(Q10 = 2. 0) in the range of 12.7 -39.0c. cysteine residue having free thiol group was. unrelated to the activity of the transporter. catecholamines, serotonin, and cocaine inhibited the DA transport , but tyramine (TA) and tryptamine, as well as benztropine and imipramine (which are potent inhibitors for hepatic TA transporter and neuronal DA transporter), had no inhibitory effect on the transport of DA in these cells. Modeling gene regulatory networks （GrNs） is an important topic in systems biology. Although there has been much work focusing on various specific systems, the generic behavior of GrNs with continuous variables is still elusive. In particular, it is not clear typically how attractors partition among the three types of orbits： steady state, periodic and chaotic, and how the dynamical properties change with network＇s topological characteristics. In this work, we first investigated these questions in random GrNs with different network sizes, connectivity, fraction of inhibitory links and transcription regulation rules. Then we searched for the core motifs that govern the dynamic behavior of large GrNs. We show that the stability of a random GrN is typically governed by a few embedding motifs of small sizes, and therefore can in general be understood in the context of these short motifs. Our results provide insights for the study and design of genetic networks.
