Synergetic analysis of springtime air pollution episodes over Gwangju,Korea

The characteristics of springtime aerosols,including their optical and microphysical properties,were analyzed for the months of March to May of 2009 in Gwangju（35.23°N,126.84°E）,Korea.A high Light Detection and Ranging（LIDAR）-derived aerosol depolarization ratio（δ） of 0.25 ± 0.04 was determined on dust particles during the observation ***？ngstr？m exponent values of the 440–870 nm wavelength pair（？_（440–870）） and single-scattering albedo at 675 nm（Ω_（675）） measured by a CIMEL sun/sky radiometer were 0.77 ± 0.19 and 0.95 ±0.01,*** elevated dust layers reached a maximum elevation of 4 km above sea ***/smoke particles that originated from highly populated/industrialized regions could be distinguished by their relatively smaller particle size（？_（440–870） ranged between1.33 and 1.36） and higher light-absorbing（Ω_（675） of 0.92 ± 0.01） *** aerosols are mostly distributed at altitudes 〈 1.2 *** root-mean-square deviation（RMSD） between the aerosol optical depth（AOD,τ） derived from LIDAR_（（τ_（LIDAR））） and from the CIMEL sun/sky radiometer_（（τ_（CIMEL））） varied with respect to the surface PM10 *** RMSD between τ_（LIDAR） and τ_（CIMEL） was as low as 13% under lower PM_（10） concentration levels（〈 100 μg/m^3）.In contrast,the RMSD between τ_（LIDAR） and τ_（CIMEL） increased three times（~31%） under high surface PM_（10） concentration levels（〉100 μg/m^3）.These results suggest that the accuracy of τ_（LIDAR） is influenced by specific atmospheric conditions,regardless of its uncertainty.

Characteristics and outcomes of chronic liver disease patients with acute deteriorated liver function by severity of underlying liver disease

AIM: To analyze characteristics and outcome of patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF) according to the severity of underlying liver disease. METHODS: One hundred and sixty-seven adult patients with chronic liver disease and acute deteriorated liver function, defined by jaundice and coagulopathy, were analyzed. Predisposition, type of injury, response, organ failure, and survival were analyzed and compared between patients with non-cirrhosis(type A), cirrhosis(type B) and cirrhosis with previous decompensation(type C).RESULTS: The predisposition was mostly hepatitis B in type A, while it was alcoholic liver disease in typesB and C. Injury was mostly hepatic in type A, but was non-hepatic in type C. Liver failure, defined by CLIF-SOFA, was more frequent in types A and B, and circulatory failure was more frequent in type C. The 30-d overall survival rate(85.3%, 81.1% and 83.7% for types A, B and C, respectively, P = 0.31) and the 30-d transplant-free survival rate(55.9%, 65.5% and 62.5% for types A, B and C, respectively P = 0.33) were not different by ACLF subtype, but 1-year overall survival rate were different(85.3%, 71.7% and 58.7% for types A, B and C, respectively, P = 0.02).CONCLUSION: There were clear differences in predisposition, type of injury, accompanying organ failure and long-term mortality according to spectrum of chronic liver disease, implying classifying subtype according to the severity of underlying liver disease is useful for defining, clarifying and comparing ACLF.

This study attempted to identify the level of exposure of 350 subjects to the extremely low-frequency magnetic field(ELF-MF).The occupational group showed significantly high levels of ELF-MF in every exposure indicator during work and transportation(p<0.05).About 11%and 6%of the members of the occupational group were exposed to over 2mG and 4 mG,respectively,of ELF-MF during"all"*** 24-h ELF-MF exposure levels of the subjects in both groups were *** the occupational group,for every activity,the percentile for less than 2mG corresponded to 100%of C-4(agriculture),95%of C-1(professional),97%of C-2(engineer,office/sales),81%of C-3(services),85%of C-5(technician,labor management),and 50%of C-6(electrician).In the non-occupational group,the percentile for less than 2mG corresponded to 92%of students,83%of homemakers,81%of the elderly,and 88%of the *** percentile for over 4mG was 5%for students,homemakers,and the elderly and 13%of the *** and the unemployed had the highest ELF-MF levels in both groups,*** were exposed to ELF-MF mostly at work,while the unemployed subjects were most affected by the activities classified under sleep and transportation.

Human Body Tracking and Pose Estimation Using Modified Camshift Algorithm

In this paper, we propose multiple CAMShift Algorithm based on Kalman filter and weighted search windows that extracts skin color area and tracks several human body parts for real-time human tracking system. The CAMShift Algorithm we propose searches the skin color region by detecting the skin color area from background model. Kalman filter stabilizes the floated search area of CAMShift Algorithm. Each occlusion areas are avoided by using weighted window of non-search areas and main-search area. And shadows are eliminated from background model and intensity of shadow. The proposed modified Camshaft algorithm can estimate human pose in real-time and achieves 96.82% accuracy even in the case of occlusions.

Durability of viral response after off-treatment in HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B

AIM:To evaluate the durability in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) positive chronic hepatitis B patients who discontinued antiviral treatment. METHODS:A total of 48 HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B patients who were administered nucleoside analogues and maintained virological response for ≥ 6 mo [hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA 104 copies/mL after HBeAg seroconversion with previously undetectable HBV-DNA level. RESULTS:During the median follow-up period of 18.2 mo (range:5.1-47.5 mo) after cessation of antiviral treatment, the cumulative serological recurrence rate was 15 % at 12 mo. The median duration between the cessation of antiviral treatment and serologic recurrence was 7.2 mo (range:1.2-10.9 mo). Of the 48 patients with HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis, 20 (41.6%) showed virological recurrence. The cumulative virologic recurrence rates at 12 mo after discontinuing the antiviral agent were 41%. The median duration between off-treatment and virologic recurrence was 7.6 mo (range:4.3-27.1 mo). The mean age of the virological recurrence group was older than that of the non-recurrence group (46.7 ± 12.1 years vs 38.8 ± 12.7 years, respectively; P = 0.022). Recently, most businesses have introduced a system for improving their responsibility to the customers in terms of job improvement. For example, small-quantity batch production increases cost but improve efficiency of management. Companies have been introduced the balanced scorecard to evaluate their management as part of improvement, while they suffer from many trials and errors. Many businesses still have difficulty in introducing balance scorecard concept in their process, but we suggest a method to successfully introduce the balance scorecard. This study aims to suggest a new performance measurement model reflecting relative importance of the key performance indicators for each factor. Our model is applied to several companies in real-world to validate the new model. Also, our study proposes a methodology for an adequate performance measurement using multiple attribute decision making.

Rheological Properties and MR Polishing Characteristics of Core Shell-Structured Silica-Coated CI Particles

Recently,ultra-precision polishing processes using smart materials such as magnetorheological(MR)fluids have been used for optics parts such as aspheric *** MR fluid applied in MR polishing is a phase controllable suspension comprising a mixture of CI particles and non-magnetic fluids such as mineral oil and *** fluids are a kind of smart material that can be controlled according to their flow properties such as viscosity and stiffness. Water-based MR fluids are easily oxidized if the fluids are exposed and this oxidation can bring irregular polishing results. Also,this phenomenon is one of several factors that reduce the life time of MR *** a previous work,CI particles were coated with a polymer or a composite for the improvement of dispersion stability and prevention of corrosion due to *** this study,the rheological properties such as viscosity and sedimentation of coated CI particles with silica were investigated with a rotational rheometer;MR polishing characteristics of BK7 glass were studied in order to investigate the surface *** wheel speed and magnetic field intensity were chosen as variables.
