The conversion of solar energy to produce clean hydrogen fuel through water splitting is an emerging strategy for efficiently storing solar energy in the form of solar *** aligns with the increasing global demand for the development of an ideal energy alternative to fossil fuels that does not emit greenhouse ***(EC) and photoelectrochemical(PEC) water splitting technologies have garnered significant attention worldwide for advanced hydrogen solar fuel production in recent *** achieve sustainable green H_(2) production,it is essential to create efficient catalyst materials that are low-cost and can replace expensive noble metal-based *** characteristics make them an ideal catalyst material for the ***-dimensional MXenes with M_(n+1)X_(n) structure have been identified as a promising option for EC and PEC water splitting due to their superior hydrophilicity,metal-like conductivity,large surface area,and adjustable surface ***,we present a summary of recent advancements in the synthesis and performance enhancement methods for MXene hybrid materials in hydrogen production through EC and PEC water ***,we examine the challenges and insights associated with the rational design of MXene-based hybrid materials to facilitate efficient water splitting for sustainable solar fuel production.

Progress in light-to-frequency conversion circuits based on low dimensional semiconductors

As the scaling down of Si devices in the range less than few nm has been expedited up to a physical limit of Si,low dimensional materials have been regarded as one of next generation *** a variety of applications,studies on photodetectors have been actively investigated with their novel optical properties as well as astonishing electrical ***,most of research has focused on single device-type photodetector(i.e.,photo-diode or photo-transistor).Contrary to common photodetector,light-to-frequency circuits(LFCs)are based on frequency reading with photosensitive ring oscillators,which has better noise immunity and reduced system complexity,thus,can be utilized to novel application even in internet of things(loT)and bio&medical *** this review,low dimensional materials based circuit level photodetectors,which are core elements as the form of either inverters or ring oscillators for demonstration of LFCs,are *** with the introduction of low dimensional materials and their optical properties for optoelectronics,a fundamental concept for LFCs is specifically ***,research progress on low dimensional material based photosensitive inverters is addressed according to the types of ***,as one of practical method for the improvement of photodetector performance,molecular doping technology is ***,complete system of LFCs and its digitization for demonstration of production level,and potential application in the respective four aspects,(i)medical SpO_(2) detection,(ii)biological fluidic system,(iii)auto-lighting in agriculture,and(iv)optical feedback and sensing systems,are presented as systematic way to address the envisioned practical applications for the future displays including virtual reality and augmented reality,and *** a remark,LFCs based on low dimensional semiconductors are expected to be one of core components in trillion’s sensor area.

A new damage quantification approach for shear-wall buildings using ambient vibration data

This paper presents a new approach to estimate damage seventy tor slaear-wall DUlltllngs using alagona~ terms of a modal flexibility matrix estimated from dynamic properties. This study aims to provide a fundamental concept for quantifying the damage of realistic buildings by investigating an idealized shear-wall building. Numerical studies were performed on a 5-story shear-wall building model to validate the applicability of the presented approach, using two damage patterns. With the numerical simulations, the proposed approach accurately determined the damage ratio of the specimens. Experiments were also conducted on a 5-story shear-wall building model for which the system parameters were almost the same as those in numerical simulations. The estimated damage-quantification results from the experimental validations demonstrated that the performance of the presented method for shear-wall buildings was both suitable and accurate.

Angelica tenuissima Nakai Ameliorates Cognitive Impairment and Promotes Neurogenesis in Mouse Model of Alzheimer's Disease

Objective: To research Angelica tenuissima Nakai(ATN) for use in novel Alzheimer’s disease(AD) therapeutics. Methods: The effect of a 30% ethanol extract of ATN(KH032) on AD-like cognitive impairment and neuropathological and neuroinflammatory changes induced by bilateral intracerebroventricular injections of β-amyloid(Aβ) peptide(Aβ1-42) was investigated. Male C57 Bl/6 mice were randomly divided into 4 groups, 10 in each group. KH032-treated groups were administrated with a low or high dose of KH032(50 and 200 mg/kg, respectively), intragastrically for 16 days; distilled water was applied in the sham and negative groups. Open field test, Y maze and Morris water maze test were used for behavior test and cognitive ability. In addition, the neuroprotective effects of KH032 in Aβ1-42-infused mice on the histopathological markers [neuronspecific nuclear protein(Neu N), Aβ1-42] of neurodegeneration were examined. The levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP), Neu N, phosphorylation extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)/ERK, brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF), phosphorylation c AMP response element-binding(CREB)/CREB protein expression were measured by Western blot. Results: KH032 treatment ameliorated cognitive impairments, reduced the overexpression of Aβ1-42, and inhibited neuronal loss and neuroinflammatory response in the Aβ1-42-infused mice. Moreover, KH032 treatment enhanced BDNF expression levels in the hippocampus. Finally, KH032 treatment increased phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and CREB, vital for ERK-CREB signaling. Conclusions: KH032 attenuated cognitive deficits in the Aβ1-42-infused mice by increasing BDNF expression and ERK1/2 and CREB phosphorylation and inhibiting neuronal loss and neuroinflammatory response, suggesting that KH032 has therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative disorders such as AD.

Reversible and controllable threshold voltage modulation for n-channel MoS2 and p-channel MoTe_(2 )field-effect transistors via multiple counter doping with ODTS/poly-L-lysine charge enhancers

Confronted by the inherent physical limitations in scaling down Si technology,transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)as alternatives are being tremendously researched and paid attention ***,mature counter doping technology for TMDCs is still elusive,and thus,a controllable and reversible charge enhancer is adopted for acceptor(or donor)-like doping via octadecyltrichlorosilane(ODTS)(or poly-L-lysine(PLL))***,multiple counter doping for TMDC field-effect transistors(FETs),combined with a threshold voltage(V;h)freezing scheme,renders the V_(th) modulation controllable,with negligible degradation and decent sustainability of FETs even after each treatment of a representative charge *** parallel,the counter doping mechanism is systematically investigated via photoluminescence spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,atomic force microscopy(AFM),surface energy characterization,and measurement of optoelectronic properties under illumination with light of various *** impressively,complementary inverters,composed of type-converted molybdenum ditelluride(MoTe_(2)>FETs and hetero-TMDC FETs in enhancement mode,are demonstrated via respective ODTS/PLL ***,driving backplane application for micro-light-emitting diode(p-LED)displays and physical validation of a corresponding counter doping scheme even for flexible polyethylene terephthalate(PET)substrates could be leveraged to relieve daunting challenges in the application of nanoscale Si-based three-dimensional(3D)stacked systems,with potential adoption of ultralow power and monolithic optical interconnection technology.

Ultimate strength of single shear bolted connections with cold-formed ferritic stainless steel

This paper is focused on the structural behavior of the single shear bolted connections with thin-walled ferritic stainless *** purpose of this study is to investigate the ultimate behaviors,such as ultimate strength and fracture mode of the single shear bolted connections of thin-walled ferritic stainless steel(low cost steel) rather than austenitic stainless steel(high cost steel).Bolt arrangement and end distance parallel to the direction of applied load are considered as main variables of the test specimens for bolted *** have a constant dimension of edge distance perpendicular to the loading direction,bolt diameter,pitch,and gauge.A monotonic tensile test for specimens has been carried out and some bolted connections with long end distance showed curling(out of plane deformation) occurrence which led to strength *** ultimate behaviors such as fracture mode,ultimate strength are compared with those predicted by current design ***,conditions of curling occurrence and the strength reduction due to curling are investigated and modified strength equations are suggested considering the curling effect.

Quantitative assessment of the relevance of organic-aniontransporting-polypeptide 1B1 and 2B1 polymorphisms in fexofenadine pharmacokinetic variants via pharmacometrics

Fexofenadine is useful in various allergic disease ***,the pharmacokinetic variability information and quantitative factor identification of fexofenadine are very *** study aimed to verify the validity of previously proposed genetic factors through fexofenadine population pharmacokinetic modeling and to explore the quantitative correlations affecting the pharmacokinetic *** of the organic-anion-transporting-polypeptide(OATP)1B1 and 2B1 have been proposed to be closely related to fexofenadine pharmacokinetic ***,modeling was performed using fexofenadine oral exposure data according to the OATP1B1-and ***1B1 and 2B1 were identified as effective covariates of clearance(CL/F)and distribution volume(V/F)-CL/F,respectively,in fexofenadine pharmacokinetic ***/F and average steady-state plasma concentration of fexofenadine differed by up to 2.17-and 2.20-folds,respectively,depending on the OATP1B1 *** the individuals with different OATP2B1 polymorphisms,the CL/F and V/F differed by up to 1.73-and 2.00-folds,*** of the areas under the curves following single-and multiple-administrations,and the cumulative ratio were significantly different between OATP1B1-and 2B1-polymorphism *** on quantitative prediction comparison through a model-based approach,OATP1B1 was confirmed to be relatively more important than 2B1 regarding the degree of effect on fexofenadine pharmacokinetic *** on the established pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic relationship,the difference in fexofenadine efficacy according to genetic polymorphisms of OATP1B1 and 2B1 was 1.25-and 0.87-times,respectively,and genetic consideration of OATP1B1 was expected to be important in the pharmacodynamics area as *** population pharmacometrics study will be a very useful starting point for fexofenadine precision medicine.

Ultrasensitive and Highly Stretchable Multiple‑Crosslinked Ionic Hydrogel Sensors with Long‑Term Stability

Flexible hydrogels are receiving significant attention for their application in wearable ***,most hydrogel materials exhibit weak and one-time adhesion,low sensitivity,ice crystallization,water evaporation,and poor self-recovery,thereby limiting their application as *** issues are only partly addressed in previous ***,a multiplecrosslinked poly(2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl)dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium hydroxide-co-acrylamide)(P(SBMA-co-AAm))multifunctional hydrogel is prepared via a one-pot synthesis method to overcome the aforementioned ***,ions,glycerol,and 2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl)dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium hydroxide are incorporated to reduce the freezing point and improve the moisture retention *** proposed hydrogel is superior to existing hydrogels because it exhibits good stretchability(a strain of 2900%),self-healing properties,and transparency through effective energy dissipation in its dynamic crosslinked ***,2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl)dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl)ammonium hydroxide as a zwitterion monomer results in an excellent gauge factor of 43.4 at strains of 1300-1600%by improving the ion transportability and achieving a strong adhesion of 20.9 kPa owing to the dipole-dipole *** proposed hydrogel is promising for next-generation biomedical applications,such as soft robots,and health monitoring.

Recent advances in the genetics of testicular failure

Infertility affects approximately 15% of couples, and male factor is responsible for 30%-50% of all infertility. The most severe form of male infertility is testicular failure, and the typical phenotype of testicular failure is severely impaired spermatogenesis resulting in azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia. Although the etiology of testicular failure remains poorly understood, genetic factor typically is an underlying cause. Modern assisted reproductive techniques have revolutionized the treatment of male factor infertility, allowing biological fatherhood to be achieved by many men who would otherwise have been unable to become father to their children through natural conception. Therefore, identifying genetic abnormalities in male is critical because of the potential risk of transmission of genetic abnormalities to the offspring. Recently, along with other intense researches ongoing, whole-genome approaches have been used increasingly in the genetic studies of male infertility. In this review, we focus on the genetics of testicular failure and provide an update on the advances in the study of genetics of male *** affects approximately 15% of couples, and male factor is responsible for 30%-50% of all infertility. Evaluation of properties of concrete using fluosilicate salts and metal (Ni,W) compounds

To improve watertightness and antibiosis of sewage structure concrete, the antimicrobial watertight admixture was made with fluosilicate salts and antimicrobial compounds. And fresh properties, watertightness, harmlessness and antibiosis of concrete were investigated experimentally. As a result, the fresh properties of concrete were similar to those of an ordinary concrete, without setting time delay. Compressive strength and carbonation resistance of concrete were better than those of an ordinary concrete. Finally it was confirmed that the antimicrobial watertight admixture of concrete had an antibiosis inhibiting SOB growth.
