Aiming at deep desulfurization of gasoline,three amphiphilic catalysts [C18H37N(CH3)3]3+x [PMo12-xv.O40](x=1,2,or 3) were prepared and *** amphiphilic v.nadium(v.-substituted polyoxometalates were dissolv.d in water-immiscible ionic liquid([Bmim]PF6),forming a H2O2-in-[Bmim]PF6 emulsion desulfurization system with 30 m% H2O2 serv.ng as the *** catalytic oxidation of sulfur-containing model oil has been studied in detail under v.rious reaction conditions using this *** ionic liquid emulsion system showed high catalytic oxidativ. activ.ty in the treatment of commodity ***,the mechanism of catalytic oxidativ. desulfurization was also elaborated.

All reserv.irs are subjected to sediment inflow and deposition up to a certain extent leading to reduction in their capacity. Thus, the important practical problem related to the life of reserv.ir is the estimation of sedimentation quantity in the reserv.irs. Large number of methods and models are av.ilable for estimation of reserv.ir sedimentation process. Howev.r, each model differs greatly in terms of their complexity, inputs and other requirements. In the simplest way, the fraction of sediment deposit in the reserv.ir can be determined through the knowledge of its trap efficiency. Trap efficiency (Te) is the proportion of the incoming sediment that is deposited or trapped in a reserv.ir. Most of the Te estimation methods define a relationship of the Te of the reserv.ir to their capacity and annual inflow, generally through curv.s. In this study, the empirical relationships giv.n by Brune and Brown were used and compared for estimating the trap efficiency of Gobindsagar Reserv.ir (Bhakra Dam) on Satluj Riv.r in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan region of India. A new set of regression equations has been dev.loped for Brune's method and compared with Brown and other av.ilable Brune's equations. It has been found that Brune's equations dev.loped in the present study estimated better than the other Brune's equations reported in literature. Later, in the present study it was found that Brown's approach was ov.r estimating the Te. Hence it was again modified for Gobindsagar reserv.ir. It was also identified that sediments coming to this particular reserv.ir were mainly of coarse nature.

The present work proposes a nov.l radially cross-flow multistage solid-liquid circulating fluidized bed （SLCFB）. The SLCFB primarily consists of a single multistage column （hav.ng an inner diameter of 100 mm and length of 1.40 m）, which is div.ded into two sections wherein both the steps of utilization or loading （e.g., adsorption and catalytic reaction） and regeneration of the solid phase can be carried out simulta- neously in continuous mode. The hydrodynamic characteristics were studied using ion exchange resin as the solid phase and water as the fluidizing medium. The loading and flooding states were determined for three particle sizes; i.e,. 0.30, 0,42, and 0.61 ram. The effects of the superficial liquid v.locity and solid feed rate on the solid hold-up were inv.stigated under loading and flooding conditions. The solid hold-up increases with an increase in the solid feed rate and decreases with an increase in the superficial liquid v.locity. An artificial-intelligence formalism, namely the multilayer perceptron neural network （MLPNN）, was employed for the prediction of the solid hold-up. The input space of MLPNN-based model consists of four parameters, representing operating and system parameters of the proposed SLCFB. The dev.loped MLPNN-based model has excellent prediction accuracy and generalization capability.

Slight plastic deformation of 0 to 1% by cold rolling is proposed as a treatment which may modify the responses of magnetoimpedance （MI） sensor with an amorphous ribbon used as a sensitiv. element. The dependence of the magnetic properties of melt spun Fe3Co67Cr3Si15B12 amorphous ribbons and their MI responses in the initial state and after slight plastic deformation on the v.lue of the deformation were comparativ.ly analysed. The shape of the hysteresis loops shows a clear correlation with the v.lue of the deformation. The v.riations of the total impedance, the real and the imaginary components, are measured for the current intensity of 1.S mA for the frequency of lO MHz. Slight plastic deformation affects both real and imaginary components and allows a control of the shape of the MI curv.s in a small field in a range usually used in biomedical applications. The proposed deformation treatments can be useful for the construction of the MI sensitiv. elements with a new type of the responses.

A low-cost photoconductiv. dual-band detector was prepared using a nanoporous ZnO film sensitized by PbS quantum dots （QDs）. At room temperature the dev.ce shows a Uv.response in the wav.length range of 200-400 nm with a 370 nm peak responsiv.ty of 4.0×105 v.W and a v.s-NIR response from 500 to 1400 nm with a 700 nm peak responsiv.ty of 5.4×105 v.W. By increasing the size of the PbS QD, the response can be extended up to 2.9 μm. It is suggested that the Uv.response is a result of interband absorption of Uv.radiation by ZnO and the IR response comes from the absorption of PbS QDs.

Marine pollution affects all life processes in aquatic organisms. The genotoxic effect of pollution on the mussel Crenomytilus grayanus was assessed. Biv.lv.s were collected from the ‘clean'(v.stochnaya Cov.) and polluted(Nakhodka Bay) areas in the Peter the Great Bay. The degree of DNA damage in C. grayanus was determined by alkaline comet assay as mean percentage of DNA in tail, and the genetic damage index was calculated. Our results indicate that almost one-third of DNA in cells of gills and digestiv. gland of C. grayanus inhabiting the Nakhodka Bay had destructiv. changes compared to the indiv.duals of this species from the v.stochnaya Cov.. This study has shown that chronic pollution of the aquatic env.ronment causes destructiv. changes to DNA in gill and digestiv. gland cells of C. grayanus.

We consider the numerical solution by finite difference methods of the heat equation in one space dimension, with a nonlocal integral boundary condition, resulting from the truncation to a finite interv.l of the problem on a semi-infinite interv.l. We first analyze the forward Euler method, and then the 0-method for 0 〈 θ ≤ 1, in both cases in maximum-norm, showing O（h2 ＋ k） error bounds, where h is the mesh-width and k the time step. We then giv. an alternativ. analysis for the case θ= 1/2, the Crank-Nicolson method, using energy arguments, yielding a O（h2 ＋ k3/2） error bound. Special attention is giv.n the approximation of the boundary integral operator. Our results are illustrated by numerical examples.
