Temporary storage/shipping of cell/tissue engineering products from bench to bedside is a key aspect of re-generative *** current proof-of-concept study presents a multipurpose device for temporary storage/shipping of cell culture dishes containing cell/tissue *** device,made with readily available raw ma-terials,contains three elements viz.a specialized lid,polymeric plates having grooves and a set of nuts and *** part of the performance evaluation,the device was first subjected to a simulated storage/shipping process,wherein the leak-proof and aseptic containment of the contents was ***,the setup was used for temporary storage/shipping of dishes having(a)L929 cell monolayers cultured on treated surfaces,(b)SIRC,HaCaT and A549 cell sheets cultured on thermo-responsive surfaces,(c)HOS-cell encapsulated agar gels and(d)HOS-cell seeded silk fibroin *** results showed that the health of cell monolayers/cell sheets/tissue constructs after the process was comparable to that before the *** device was scalable,simple to handle,can be made for a single or multi-use purpose,and can be resizable to load other culture *** design of the storage/shipping device described in this report thus offers versatile features and applications.

Wound healing activity of aqueous extract of Crotalaria verrucosa in Wistar albino rats

Objective:To evaluate the wound healing effect of aqueous extract of Crotalaria verrucosa(C. verrucosa) in ***:Three wound models including incision,excision and dead space wounds were used in this *** parameters studied were breaking strength in incision models,granulation tissue dry weight,breaking strength and hydroxyproline content in dead space wounds,percentage of wound contraction and period of epithelialization in excision wound ***:Two doses of the extract with and without dexamethasone showed significant increases in mean hydroxyproline,total protein content and dry weight of granulation tissue but it was higher with dose 800 mg/kg comparing with the *** dexamethasone treated group showed a significant(ppared to control group in incision type of wound *** of *** with dexamethasone significantly(ppared to the dexamethasone treated only *** excision wound model,the percentage of the wound contraction was significantly(ppt the lower dose which exhibited only on 12th,16th days of drug treatment and it also reversed the dexamethasone suppressed wound *** significantly(ppithelialization and reversed the epithelialization delaying effect of dexamethasone (ppossess significant wound healing property. This was evident by decrease in the period of epithelialization,increase in the rate of wound contraction,skin breaking strength,and granulation tissue dry weight *** C. verrucosa could be a good wound healing agent.

Tetraphenylethylene(TpE)-conjugated porphyrin TpE-ZnpF is synthesized in high yield and characterized by single-crystal X-ray *** propeller-shaped TpE groups not only enable exceptional aggregation-induced emission(AIE)in the solid state but also abolish the strongπ-πstacking of porphyrin moieties and thus prohibit aggregation-caused quenching(ACQ).TpE-ZnpF aggregates feature longlived photoexcited states,which subsequently suppress non-radiative decay channels and enhance emission ***,its aggregates show more efficient lightharvesting ability due to the Förster resonance energy transfer from the TpE energy donor to the porphyrin core energy acceptor,well-defined nanosphere morphology,and more efficient photoinduced charge separation than the porphyrin ph-ZnpF,which possesses ACQ and agglomerated *** a result,an excellent photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate(ηH_(2))of 56.20 mmol g^(‒1)h^(‒1)is recorded for TpE-ZnpF aggregates,which is 94-fold higher than that of the aggregates of ph-ZnpF(0.60 mmol g^(‒1)h^(‒1))without the TpE groups.

petrogenesis of carbonatitic lamproitic dykes from Sidhi gneissic complex,Central India

petrographic, mineral chemical and whole-rock geochemical characteristics of two newly discovered lamproitic dykes(Dyke 1 and Dyke 2) from the Sidhi Gneissic Complex(SGC), Central India are presented here. Both these dykes have almost similar sequence of mineral-textural patterns indicative of:(1) an early cumulate forming event in a deeper magma chamber where megacrystic/large size phenocrysts of phlogopites have crystallized along with subordinate amount of olivine and clinopyroxene;(2) crystallization at shallow crustal levels promoted fine-grained phlogopite, K-feldspar, calcite and Fe-Ti oxides in the groundmass;(3) dyke emplacement related quench texture(plumose K-feldspar, acicular phlogopites) and finally(4) post emplacement autometasomatism by hydrothermal fluids which percolated as micro-veins and altered the mafic phases. phlogopite phenocrysts often display resorption textures together with growth zoning indicating that during their crystallization equilibrium at the crystal-melt interface fluctuated multiple times probably due to incremental addition or chaotic dynamic self mixing of the lamproitic magma. Carbonate aggregates as late stage melt segregation are common in both these dykes, however their micro-xenolithic forms suggest that assimilation with a plutonic carbonatite body also played a key role in enhancing the carbonatitic nature of these dykes. Geochemically both dykes are ultrapotassic(K_2 O/Na_2 O: 3.0-9.4) with low CaO, Al_2 O_3 and Na_2 O content and high SiO_2(53.3-55.6 wt.%)and K_2 O/Al_2 O_3 ratio(0.51-0.89) characterizing them as high-silica lamproites. Inspite of these similarities, many other features indicate that both these dykes have evolved independently from two distinct magmas. In dyke 1, phlogopite composition has evolved towards the minette trend(Al-enrichment) from a differentiated parental magma having low MgO, Ni and Cr content; whereas in dyke 2, phlogopite composition shows an evolutionary affinity towards the lamproit

Chemoprevention of neuroblastoma: progress and promise beyond uncertainties

Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in children and comprises one-tenth of all childhood cancer *** current clinical therapy for this deadly disease is multimodal,involving an induction phase with alternating regimens of high-dose chemotherapeutic drugs and load reduction surgery;a consolidation phase with more intensive chemotherapy,radiotherapy,and stem cell transplant;and a maintenance phase with immunotherapy and immune-activating cytokine *** such intensive treatment,children with neuroblastoma have unacceptable life quality and survival,warranting preventive measures to regulate the cellular functions that orchestrate tumor progression,therapy resistance,metastasis,and tumor relapse/***,active efforts are underway to identify novel chemopreventive agents,define their mechanism(s)of action,and assess their clinical *** chemoprevention strategies(e.g.,retinoids,difluoromethylornithine)have already been adopted clinically as part of maintenance phase *** agents are in the pipeline,while many others are in preclinical *** we review the classes of chemopreventive agents investigated for neuroblastoma,including cellular events targeted,mode(s)of action,and the level of *** review:(i)highlights the pressing need for new and improved chemopreventive strategies for progressive neuroblastoma;(ii)lists the emerging classes of chemopreventive agents for neuroblastoma;and(iii)recognizes the relevance of targeting dynamically evolving hallmark functions of tumor evolution(e.g.,survival,differentiation,lineage transformation).With recent gains in the understanding of tumor evolution processes and preclinical and clinical efforts,it is our strong opinion that effective chemopreventive strategies for aggressive neuroblastoma are a near reality.
