Background: Pusher syndrome is a disorder of postural control observed in patients with right or left brain damage associated with hemiparesis. those patients show a peculiar behavior of actively pushing away from the nonhemiparetic side and resisting against passive correction, with a tendency to fall toward the paralyzed side. thus far this phenomenon has been exclusively associated with stroke patients. Abstract:Objective: We investigate the occurrence, imaging features and clinical evolution of pusher behavior in patients with acute encephalic lesions at a tertiary emergency hospital. Methods: Pusher patients were identified from 530 inpatients during a 1 year period. Patients were evaluated using a standardized Scale for Contraversive Pushing (SCP), neurological examination, assessment of neuropsychological symptoms, activities of daily living function and neuroimaging studies. Results: We found eight patients (1.5% ) with severe contraversive pushing, three female and five male. Age at symptoms onset ranged from 48 to 80 years (mean 65.4). All patients had scores equal or above 1.5 in each tested parameter of the SCP. Six patients (75% ) had right- hemisphere brain damage. A stroke etiology was found in four patients. the other four patients had non- stroke etiology (three traumatic, one metastatic tumor). Stroke patients showed complete recovery of pusher behavior at a mean duration of 15.3 weeks. In patients with brain trauma, pushing behavior was completely resolved in a mean time of 5 weeks. Conclusions: the results demonstrate that contraversive pushing may also occur in patients with non- stroke neurological lesions and suggest that resolution of symptoms may vary according to the underlying etiology.

gastroesophageal reflux disease(geRD)is defined by recurrent and troublesome heartburn and effortless regurgitation or by the specific complications of this condition—that is,esophagitis,esophageal peptic strictures,and Barrett esophagus.1Although geRD is caused by gastric contents'reaching the esophagus,gastric juices can also reach other anatomical locations(pharynx,mouth,larynx,and airways),leading to(or worsening)extra-esophageal conditions(notably asthma)or symptoms(e.g.,wheezing,cough).1 together with obesity,geRD is the main risk factor for gastroesophageal malignancies.

All-solid-state batteries(ASSBs)are a class of safer and higher-energy-density materials compared to conventional devices,from which solid-state electrolytes(SSes)are their essential *** date,investigations to search for high ion-conducting solid-state electrolytes have attracted broad ***,obtaining SSes with high ionic conductivity is challenging due to the complex structural information and the less-explored structure-performance *** provide a solution to these challenges,developing a database containing typical SSes from available experimental reports would be a new avenue to understand the structureperformance relationships and find out new design guidelines for reasonable ***,a dynamic experimental database containing>600 materials was developed in a wide range of temperatures(132.40–1261.60 K),including mono-and divalent cations(e.g.,Li^(+),Na^(+),K^(+),Ag^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),and Zn^(2+))and various types of anions(e.g.,halide,hydride,sulfide,and oxide).Data-mining was conducted to explore the relationships among different variates(e.g.,transport ion,composition,activation energy,and conductivity).Overall,we expect that this database can provide essential guidelines for the design and development of high-performance SSes in ASSB *** database is dynamically updated,which can be accessed via our open-source online system.

Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** t.e.g.owing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(Re) with BFR on this ***:two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of the Re+BFR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 min sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).Re repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a st.e.g.h and conditioning ***:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD ***,Re+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 *** with borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:these results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo Re+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during Re+BFR.

In this work,we report long-term trends in the abundance and breeding performance of Adélie penguins(Pygoscelis adeliae)nesting in three Antarctic colonies(i.e.,at Martin Point,South Orkneys Islands;Stranger Point/Cabo Funes,South Shetland Islands;and esperanza/Hope Bay in the Antarctic Peninsula)from 1995/96 to 2022/*** yearly count data of breeding groups selected,we observed a decline in the number of breeding pairs and chicks in crèche at all colonies ***,the magnitude of change was higher at Stranger Point than that in the remaining ***,the index of breeding success,which was calculated as the ratio of chicks in crèche to breeding pairs,exhibited no apparent trend throughout the study ***,it displayed greater variability at Martin Point compared to the other two colonies under *** the number of chicks in crèche of Adélie penguins showed a declining pattern,the average breeding performance was similar to that reported in gentoo penguin colonies,specifically,those undergoing a population increase(even in sympatric colonies facing similar local conditions).Consequently,it is plausible to assume a reduction of the over-winter survival as a likely cause of the declining trend observed,at least in the Stranger Point and esperanza ***,we cannot rule out local effects during the breeding season affecting the Adélie population of Martin Point.

Immune response to inactivated bacterial vector carrying the recombinant K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum in mice

Objective:to evaluate the immunological response elicited by an inactivated bacterial vector carrying the K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum,and a purified ***:Mice were subjected to the following treatments:(1)Purified recombinant K39(rK39)protein at a 20μg dose with complete Freund’s adjuvant;(2)Inactivated escherichia coli(BL21 De3)carrying the K39 protein at an equivalent total protein content of 200μg;(3)Inactivated bacteria lacking the K39 protein;(4)Non-immunized control *** monitoring was *** groups were challenged by intraperitoneal injection of 10^(7) Leishmania infantum *** euthanasia,the liver and spleen were collected to analyze the levels of tNF,IFN-γ,IL-12,IL-4,and ***:Mice immunized with purified rK39 or the inactivated bacterial vector carrying the K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum showed a long-lasting immune response with high levels of polyclonal antibodies specifically recognizing the recombinant *** Igg1 subclass was the predominant immunoglobulin;however,the induction of Igg2a and the profile of cytokines produced were indicative of the induction of a mixed-type ***:the inactivated bacterial vector carrying the K39 antigen,as well as the purified antigen can induce a long-lasting immune response in immunized mice,predominantly favouring a th2 profile response.
