Gastrointestinal tuberculosis is not associated with proton pump inhibitors:A retrospective cohort study

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome following uneventful clipping of an unruptured intracranial aneurysm:A case report

BACKGROUND Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome(PRES)is characterized mainly by occipital and parietal lobe involvement,which can be reversible within a few ***,we report a rare case of PRES that developed after craniotomy for an unruptured intracranial aneurysm(UIA).CASE SUMMARY A 59-year-old man underwent clipping surgery for the treatment of UIA arising from the left middle cerebral *** surgery was performed uneventfully,and he regained consciousness quickly immediately after the *** the 4th hour after surgery,he developed a disorder of consciousness and *** resonance imaging revealed cortical and subcortical T2/FLAIR hyperintensities in the parietal,occipital,and frontal lobes ipsilaterally,without restricted diffusion,consistent with unilateral *** conservative treatment,his symptoms and radiological findings almost completely disappeared within *** our case,the important causative factor of PRES was suspected to be a sudden increase in cerebral perfusion pressure associated with temporary M1 *** Our unique case highlights that,to our knowledge,this is the second report of PRES developing after craniotomy for the treatment of *** must keep PRES in mind as one of the causes of perioperative neurological abnormality following clipping of an UIA.

Anti-inflammatory Effects of sanguisorbae Radix on Contact Dermatitis Induced by Dinitrofluorobenzene in Mice

Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of sanguisorbae Radix on contact dermatitis(CD).Methods:Mice were sensitized by painting 30μL of 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene(DNFB)onto each ear for 3 *** days later,mice were challenged by painting with 50μL of DNFB onto the shaved dorsum every 2 *** Radix methanol extract(MESR)was applied onto the shaved dorsum every 2 *** effects of MESR on skin thickness,skin weights,histopathological changes,skin lesions and cytokine production in DNFB-induced CD mice were investigated,as well as its effects on body weights and spleen/body weight ***:Topical application of MESR effectively inhibited enlargement of skin thickness and weight(P<0.05).MESR treatment also inhibited hyperplasia,spongiosis and immune cell infiltration induced by DNFB in inflamed tissues and improved lesions on dorsum skin in CD ***,treatment with MESR suppressed the increase in the levels of tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α,P<0.01)and interferonγ(IFN-γ,P<0.05),***,MESR had no effect on body weight gain or spleen/body weight ***:These data suggest that MESR acts as an anti-inflammatory agent that decreases the production of TNF-α and IFN-γ,resulting in reductions of skin lesions and histopathological changes in inflamed skin tissues.

Aquaporin （AQP） is a water channel protein found in various subcellular membranes of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The physiological functions of AQPs have been elucidated in many organisms. However, understanding their biogenesis remains elusive, particularly regarding how they assemble into tetramers. Here, we investigated the amino acid residues involved in the tetramer formation of the Arabidopsis plasma membrane AQP AtPIP2;1 using extensive amino acid substitution mutagenesis. The mutant proteins V41A/ E44A, F51A/L52A, F87A/191A, F92A/193A, V95A/Y96A, and H216A/L217A, harboring alanine substitutions in the transmembrane （TM） helices of AtPIP2;1 polymerized into multiple oligomeric complexes with a vari- able number of subunits greater than four. Moreover, these mutant proteins failed to traffic to the plasma membrane, instead of accumulating in the endoplasmic reticulum （ER）. Structure-based modeling revealed that these residues are largely involved in interactions between TM helices within monomers. These results suggest that inter-TM interactions occurring both within and between monomers play crucial roles in tetramer formation in the AtPIP2;1 complex. Moreover, the assembly of AtPIP2;1 tetramers is critical for their trafficking from the ER to the plasma membrane, as well as water permeability.

AIM: To investigate prevalence of Clonorchis sinensis in patients with gastrointestinal symptoms, and the relation of the infection to hepatobiliary diseases in 26 hospitals in ***: Consecutive patients who had been admitted to the Division of Gastroenterology with gastrointestinal symptoms were enrolled from March to April 2005. Of those who had been diagnosed with clonorchiasis, epidemiology and correlation between infection and hepatobiliary diseases were surveyed by ***: Of 3080 patients with gastrointestinal diseases, 396 (12.9%) had clonorchiasis and 1140 patients (37.2%) had a history of eating raw freshwater fish. Of those with a history of raw freshwater fish ingestion, 238 (20.9%) patients had clonorchiasis. cholangiocarcinoma was more prevalent in C. sinensis-infected patients than non-infected patients [34/396 (8.6%) vs 145/2684 (5.4%), P = 0.015]. cholangiocarcinoma and clonorchiasis showed statistically significant positive cross-relation (P = 0.008). choledocholithiasis, cholecystolithiasis, cholangitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and biliary pancreatitis did not correlate with ***: Infection rate of clonorchiasis was still high in patients with gastrointestinal diseases in Korea, and has not decreased very much during the last two decades. cholangiocarcinoma was related to clonorchiasis, which suggested an etiological role for the parasite.
