Evaluation of Impact Strength and Micro-Hardness of Denture Base Acrylic Resin （PMMA） Part Ⅱ

Poly （methyl methacrylate） is widely used as denture base material. During fabrication of a denture, the physical and mechanical properties are influenced by cure condition. Each cure cycle or fabrication technique is attempts to optimize the properties for a given application. The aim of this study was to compare two types of commercially available denture base materials （heat-cure and self-cure） in their mechanical properties. The samples were prepared according to the daily routine work for sample preparation in dental laboratories. After reaching dough stage the mix packed into dumbbell shaped of stainless steel mould and pressed in a hydraulic bench press for 25 mins at room temperature. For heat cure the polymerization cycle was carried out using water bath, while self cure was done at room temperature. The impact strength was evaluated using Charpy impact test. The hardness test was conducted using a calibrated Vickers hardness tester machine. The lowest impact strength was observed in self-cure denture base material （self cure material 6.2 kJ/m^2 while heat cure 12.69 kJ/m^2. It appears that the tendency of heat cure to fracture was lower than self-cure denture base materials. Heat cure denture base material has significantly higher hardness test values than self-cure denture base material. The observed VHN value of the heat-cure was 20.09 g/mm^2 while the self-cure value was 12.7 g/mm^2. This is may be due to the plasticizer effect of residual monomer which was higher in self curing material as reported in previous work. Generally, the heat cure material showed better properties compared to self cure material.

难以获得路况信息是影响半主动悬架控制性能的重要因素。进行了依据车载导航系统探测和记忆路况信息,半主动悬架据此信息提前切换到相应控制策略或阻尼的初步研究。设计了半车天棚控制器,在随机路面采用天棚控制,当导航仪探测到前方障碍时,则提前通知悬架控制器切换到小阻尼状态,从而降低振动的峰值,提高行驶的平顺性。仿真计算证明了这种思路的有效性。研制了车载导航系统并设计了路况等级探测和记忆查找的策略,实车试验取得了和仿真相近的效果。

Kinetics of Serum and Local Leukotriene B4Response in Experimental Intravaginal Trichomoniasis by T. vaginalisIsolates from Symptomatic and Asymptomatic Women

Trichomoniasis is most common sexually transmitted disease caused by T. vaginalis. The clinical manifestation varies from severe manifestation to asymptomatic condition. However, the exact virulence markers led to varied symptomatology was not well clarified. The role of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) in the pathogenesis of many parasitic diseases has been reported. The present study reports the leukotriene B4 levels on different days post infection (3rd, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th d.p.i.) in serum and vaginal washes (VWs) and vaginal tissues of mice infected intravaginally with T. vaginalis isolates from 10 symptomatic and 10 asymptomatic women. A significant increase in LTB4 was observed on the 3rd to 28th d.p.i. in serum and VWs of mice infected with T. vaginalis isolates from asymptomatic as compared to symptomatic women. The present study also reports the histopathological changes of the posterior vaginal fornix’s and upper portion of the vagina of mice infected intravaginally with T. vaginalis isolates from 10 symptomatic and 10 asymptomatic women. The results show that there are no significant differences between symptomatic and asymptomatic isolates regarding histopathological changes.

The Effect of Tea-Cinnamon and Melissa officinalisL. Aqueous Extraction, on Neuropsychology Distress, Biochemical and Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in Glass Production Workers

Medicinal plants are considered as natural sources of antioxidant compounds which may protect organisms against oxidative stresses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of Cinnamon and Melissa officinalis L. (Lemon balm) on the improvement of oxidative stress in glass production workers. This clinical study was conducted on 32 glass production workers. They were asked to use 0.5 g of tea-Cinnamon and 3 g of Lemon balm as infusion for 30 days in the morning and evening each day. At the beginning and the end of the study, blood samples were taken from individuals to determine the level of fasting blood suger (FBS), aspartate transaminase (AST), alanintransferase (ALT), triglyceride (TG), cholesterol (CL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein(HDL) levels, lipid peroxidation (LPO), total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and sillies were measured in workers’ blood. At the end of experiment, data were subjected to the paired t-test analysis. Clinical examination was accomplished to record any abnormal signs or symptoms. After treatment, the high-density lipoprotein and TAC of serum significantly increased while the AST and LPO decreased. There were positive correlations between work history and initiative energy disorder of cognitive test. Probably tea-Cinnamon and Lemon balm possesses marked antioxidant activity and, therefore, it can be used to protect individuals from the oxidative stresses. Using supplementary antioxidants may be helpful in the treatment of workers.

Position encoded asymmetrically clipped optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing in visible light communications

A PE-ACO-OFDM(Position-Encoded Asymmetrically Clipped Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)signaling scheme for intensity modulation and direct detection is introduced in this paper,where the anti-asymmetry characteristics of ACO-OFDM are exploited to improve the rate of data *** is achieved by reducing the symbol duration of the ACO-OFDM signal,where only the first half of ACO-OFDM is used to transmit the ACO-OFDM data symbol after inverting its negative samples to positive *** addition,encoded ACO-OFDM samples are combined with every ACO-OFDM symbol to allow the receiver to identify the position of the inverted *** results are introduced,and it is shown that the data rates of PE-ACO-OFDM improve by 33%compared with ACO-OFDM,when a 256-quadrature amplitude modulation scheme is considered as the encoded constellation *** is also shown that the signal to noise ratio of the proposed PE-ACO-OFDM is higher by almost 1 dB compared with the traditional ACO-OFDM.

Design, Construction and Validation of a Portable Tire Test Rig

Tire force and moment testing is a valuable way of quantifying the performance of a tire. The data collected from such testing is also used by many researchers for vehicle dynamic simulation studies as well as chassis control system development. Although various studies have claimed correlation between data from rolling road type machines and road testing trailers, the claim only extends for on-road conditions. Many military vehicles as well as agricultural vehicles operate in an environment which requires new levels of tire test data. This paper will discuss the design and testing of a portable trailer tire test rig. This rig was conceived and constructed for use on both on- and off-road driving surfaces and is also fitted for wet-road testing. The rig will eventually be used to collect tire data on various tire sizes both on and off-road on various road surfaces, such as grass, asphalt, concrete, and gravel for varying speeds, pressures, loads, and slip angles. The data will be used to develop a modified Pacejka Magic Formula Tire Model that can be used for conducting simulation in both on and off-road conditions.

Cervical Spine Tuberculosis： A Case Report

Bone localization of tuberculosis mainly affects the thoraco-lumbar spine. The cervical spine is rare. Its diagnosis is often late which exposes to great instability and potentially serious complications. We reported the case of a 10-year old boy with no medical history, showed torticollis and high temperature without neurological complication. In the physical examination, he had torticollis and pain in the third, fourth and fifth cervical vertebra. When biopsy was performed, we fred an inter apophysis （between C3 and C4） collection. The histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of apophysis tuberculosis. The management based on tuberculosis chemotherapy and immobilization started as soon as possible.
