Prostate cancer （CAP） is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer of men worldwide （899 000 new cases, 13.6% of the total）, with nearly 75% of the registered cases occurring in developed countries （644 000 cases）.1 Blood prostate-specific antigen test has revolutionized the early detection of CaP and organ-confined CaP is effectively managed by state-of-the-art treatments including radical prostatectomy or radiation therapy.2 In the past decade, tremendous progress has also been made in our understanding of the biology and common genomic alterations in CaP.3＇4 New molecular marker assays have promise in improving CaP diagnosis.5-8 Despite these advances, major challenges remain with our ability to distinguish indolent cancers from the more aggressive cancers detected early due to widely used prostate-specific antigen test. Furthermore, development of molecular stratification of CaP for targeted and more effective therapies is critically needed.

Objective： To investigate molecular alterations associating with prostate carcinoma progression and potentially provide information toward more accurate prognosis/diagnosis. Methods： A set of laser captured microdissected （LCM） specimens from 300 prostate cancer （PCa） patients undergoing radical prostatectomy （RP） were defined. Ten patients representing ＂aggressive＂ PCa, and 10 representing ＂non-aggressive＂ PCa were selected based on prostate-specific antigen （PSA） recurrence, Gleason score, pathological stage and tumor cell differentiation, with matched patient age and race between the two groups. Normal and neoplastic prostate epithelial cells were collected with LCM from frozen tissue slides obtained from the RP specimens. The expressions of a panel of genes, including NPY, PTEN, AR, AMACR, DD3, and GSTP1, were measured by quantitative real-time RT-PCR （TaqMan）, and correlation was analyzed with clinicopathological features. Results： The expressions of AMACR and DD3 were consistently up-regulated in cancer cells compared to benign prostate epithelial cells in all PCa patients, whereas GSTP1 expression was down regulated in each patient. NPY, PTEN and AR exhibited a striking difference in their expression patterns between aggressive and non-aggressive PCas （P=0.0203, 0.0284, and 0.0378, respectively, Wilcoxon rank sum test）. The lower expression of NPY showed association with ＂aggressive＂ PCas based on a larger PCa patient cohort analysis （P=0.0037, univariate generalized linear model （GLM） analysis）. Conclusion： Despite widely noted heterogeneous nature of PCa, gene expression alterations ofAM,4CR, DD3, and GSTP1 in LCM-derived PCa epithelial cells suggest for common underlying mechanisms in the initiation of PCa. Lower NPY expression level is significantly associated with more aggressive clinical behavior of PCa; PTEN and AR may have potential in defining PCa with aggressive clinical behavior. Transcription factors encoded by the ETS family of genes are central in integrating signals that regulate cell growth and differentiation, stress responses and tumorigenesis. This study, using laser microdissected paired benign and malignant prostate epithelial cells from prostate cancer (CaP) patients (n=114), identifies ERG, a member of the ETS transcription factor family, as the most frequently overexpressed poto-oncogene in the transcriptome of malignant prostate epithelial cells. Combined quantitative expression analysis of ERG with two other genes commonly overexpressed in CaP, AMACR and DD3, revealed overexpression of at least one of these three genes in virtually all cancer specimen (54 of 55). This work presents the synthesis of Y_(2)O_(3):Eu^(3+),χCa^(2+)(χ=0 mol%,1 mol%,3 mol%,5 mol%,7 mol%,9 mol%,11 mol%)nanophosphors with enhanced photoluminescence properties through a facile solution combustion method for optoelectronic,display,and lighting *** X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns of the proposed nanophosphor reveal its structural properties and crystalline *** transmission electron microscope(TEM)results confirm the change in the shape of the particle and aggregation of particles after co-doping with Ca^(2+).Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and Raman vibrations also confirm the presence of Y-O vibration and subsequently explain the crystalline nature,structural properties,and purity of the *** the synthesized nanophosphors samples emit intense red emission at 613 nm(~5D_(0)→~7 F_(2))under excitation with 235,394 and 466 nm wavelengths of Eu^(3+)*** photoluminescence(PL)emission spectra excited with 235 nm illustrate the highest emission peak with two other emission peaks excited with 466 and 394 nm that is 1.4 times higher than 466 nm and 1.9 times enhanced by 394 nm wavelength,*** emission intensity of Y_(2)O_(3):Eu^(3+),χCa^(2+)(5 mol%)is increased 8-fold as compared to Eu:Y_(2)O_(3).Doping with Ca^(2+)ions enhances the emission intensity of Eu:Y_(2)O_(3)nanopho sphors due to an increase in energy transfer in Ca^(2+)→Eu^(3+)through asymmetry in the crystal field and by introduction of radiative defect centers through oxygen vacancies in the yttria *** is also observed that the optical band gap and the lifetime of the~5D_(0)level of Eu^(3+)ions in Y_(2)O_(3):Eu^(3+),xCa^(2+)nanophosphor sample gets changed with a doping conce ntration of Ca^(2+)*** also reveals high thermal stability and quantum yield as estimating activation energy of 0.25 eV and 81%,***,CCT,and color purity values(>98%)show an improved red-emitting nanophosphor in the warm region of light,which m

Ediacaran discs from the Jodhpur Sandstone of the Marwar Supergroup, Rajasthan, exhibit a wide size ranging from a few millimetres to 75 cm in diameter. Exceptionally large size of the discs in these rocks represent the largest reported so far from any Ediacaran assemblage. Although, larger medu-soid discs have been reported from USA, they are from the middle Cambrian and even younger rocks. Presence of microbial mats and weed-like structures with well preserved hold fasts and horizontal rhizome-like structures in association with some of these large-sized discs support their animal affinity, which probably feed on this weed-like vegetations. This association also supports their benthic habitat. Unlike the general trend of sudden increase in size of organisms in Ediacaran period and further decrease in size during Cambrian, these discs continued increasing in size in Cambrian also.
