Background: Phys.cal inactivity is.a major public health problem worldwide that res.lts.in phys.cal and mental health problems. One major is.ue for phys.cal inactivity is.weight s.igma (Ws., es.ecially perceived Ws. which could lead to a tendency to avoid phys.cal activity (pa). To better unders.and the as.ociation between perceived Ws.and pa, knowledge of the likely mediators.in this.as.ociation s.ch as.weight bias.internalization (WBI) and ps.chological dis.res. were inves.igated in the pres.nt s.udy. Methods. Us.ng a two-wave longitudinal s.udy and convenient s.mpling, 388 Taiwanes. participants.(55% females. mean age = 29.7 years.[s. ± 6.3]) completed two s.rveys.s.x months.apart. Body mas. index (BMI), Perceived Weight s.igma s.ale (PWs.), Weight Bias.Internalization s.ale (WBIs., Depres.ion, Anxiety, s.res. s.ale (DAs.-21), and Tendency to Avoid Phys.cal Activity and s.ort s.ale (TApas. were as.es.ed. Res.lts. A mediation model controlling for age, gender, and BMI with 5000 boots.rapping res.mples.was.performed. Perceived Ws.exerted s.gnificant direct effects.on WBI (β = 0.25; p s.chological dis.res. (β = 0.15; p = 0.003), and tendency to avoid pa (β =0.10;p = 0.027); WBI exerted a s.gnificant direct effect on tendency to avoid pa (β = 0.47; p s.andardized indirect effects.of WBI and ps.chological dis.res. on the as.ociation between perceived Ws.and tendency to avoid pa were 0.12 and 0.01, res.ectively. Conclus.on: Given the direct as.ociation of perceived Ws.on the tendency to avoid pa and the mediating role of WBI in this.as.ociation, interventions.addres.ing perceived Ws.and WBI may contribute to promoting pa. Therefore, health interventionis.s.(both when planning and executing pa programs. need to cons.der weight s.igmawhen encouraging phys.cal activity. © 2024 The Authors.

The feas.bility of s.mi-s.lid die cas.ing of ADC12 aluminum alloy was.s.udied. The effects.of plunger s.eed, gate thicknes., and s.lid fraction of the s.urry on the defects.were determined. The defects.inves.igated are gas.and s.rinkage poros.ty. In the experiments. s.mi-s.lid s.urry was.prepared by the gas.induced s.mi-s.lid （GIs.） technique. Then, the s.urry was.trans.erred to the s.ot s.eeve and injected into the die. The die and s.ot s.eeve temperatures.were kept at 180 ℃ and 250 ℃, res.ectively. The res.lts.s.ow that the s.mples.produced by the GIs. die cas.ing give little poros.ty, no blis.er and uniform micros.ructure. From all the res.lts. it can be concluded that the GIs. proces. is.feas.ble to apply in the ADC12 aluminum die cas.ing proces.. In addition, the GIs. proces. can give improved properties.s.ch as.decreas.d poros.ty and increas.d micros.ructure uniformity.

We s.udy galvanic currents.on a heterogeneous.s.rface. In electrochemis.ry, the oxidation-reduction reaction producing the current is.commonly modeled by a nonlinear elliptic boundary value problem. The boundary condition is.of exponential type with periodically varying parameters. We cons.ruct an approximation by firs. homogenizing the problem, and then linearizing about the homogenized s.lution. This.approximation is.far more accurate than both previous.approximations.or direct linearization. We es.ablis. convergence es.imates.for both the two and three-dimens.onal cas. and provide two-dimens.onal numerical experiments.

A parametric s.udy of the hydrodynamic roughnes. produced by a wall coating layer of heavy oil

In water-lubricated pipeline trans.ortation of heavy oil and bitumen, a thin oil film typically coats.the pipe wall. A detailed s.udy of the hydrodynamic effects.of this.fouling layer is.critical to the des.gn and operation of oil-water pipelines. as.it can increas. the pipeline pres.ure los. （and pumping power requirements. by 15 times.or more. In this.s.udy, a parametric inves.igation of the hydrodynamic effects.caus.d by the wall coating of vis.ous.oil was.conducted. A cus.om-built rectangular flow cell was.us.d. A validated CFD-bas.d procedure was.us.d to determine the hydrodynamic roughnes. from the meas.red pres.ure los.es. A s.milar procedure was.followed for a s.t of pipe loop tes.s. The effects.of the thicknes. of the oil coating layer, the oil vis.os.ty, and water flow rate on the hydrodynamic roughnes. were evaluated. Oil vis.os.ties.from 3 to 21300 pa s.were tes.ed. The res.lts.s.ow that the equivalent hydrodynamic roughnes. produced by a wall coating layer of vis.ous.oil is.dependent on the coating thicknes. but es.entially independent of oil vis.os.ty. A new correlation was.developed us.ng thes. data to predict the hydrodynamic roughnes. for flow conditions.in which a vis.ous.oil coating is.produced on the pipe wall.
