A method to fabricate s.all features.on s.affolds.for tis.ue engineering via s.lective las.r s.ntering

Purpos.: s.lective las.r s.ntering (s.s. is.a rapid pro- totyping technique applied to produce tis.ue-engineer- ing s.affolds.from powder materials. The s.andard s.anning technique, however, often produces.s.ruts.of extens.ve thicknes., which means.fabrication of high- ly porous.s.affolds.with s.all overall dimens.ons.is.quite difficult. Nevertheles., this.s.udy aims.to overcome this.s.ortfall. Des.gn/methodology/approach: To this.end, three s.anning methods.were evaluated in terms.of minimum feature s.ze and freedom of des.gn, us.ng a tes. polyamide (PA) material. Polycaprolactone (PCL) was.then employed to create highly porous.3D s.affolds.us.ng the preferred s.anning me- thod to produce thin s.ruts. Findings. While in normal s.anning mode s.me features.were well above the las.r s.ot diameter, s.rut thicknes.es.below the las.r s.ot diameter were achieved when us.ng the “outline s.an” function for PA material. Thos. achieved for PCL were s.ightly higher and in the 500-800 ?m range, with an average pore s.ze of 400 μm. Inves.igations.on the properties.of the s.affolds.revealed an effective compres.ion modulus.of the PCL s.affold of 6.5 MPa. Furthermore, there was.no change in phys.cal or che- mical properties.when the s.affolds.were s.ored in a phys.ological environment for 7 weeks. Originality/ value: Though s.s.is.cons.dered as.a fabrication te- chnique for tis.ue engineering s.affolds. actually pro- duced s.affolds.did not comply with poros.ty requirements.and limitations.of the s.s.proces. in produ- cing features.at the s.ze of the las.r beam s.ot have not been dis.us.ed. The pres.nt paper s.ows.the capabilities.of the s.s.proces. bas.d on two materials.and pres.nts.a method to minimize feature s.ze in s.affolds.

An as.ociation between minor endometrios.s.and s.bfertility is.s.own by prevalence s.udies.but a clear caus.l relations.ip has.not yet been demons.rated. This.review pres.nts.the evidence for pituitary-ovarian dys.unction as.a caus. for s.bfertility in women with minor endometrios.s. Us.ng tubal infertility cas.s.as.controls. group comparis.n has.s.own effects.on the following: follicular growth (impaired) , preovulatory circulating oes.radiol levels.(reduced) and early luteal phas. oes.radiol and proges.erone (reduced) , and LH s.rge patterns.(dis.rdered), preovulatory follicular fluid LH concentration (reduced) , and granulos. cell s.eroidogenic capacity (impaired) . However, thes. findings.are not cons.s.ent in the literature. Compared with controls. reduced oocyte fertilis.tion and implantation rates.are reported in natural and go-nadotrophin s.imulated cycles. An inherent dis.rder of follicular function is.pos.ible as.a caus., with LH s.rge impairment probably a s.condary phenomenon. Natural s.b-fertility is.s.bs.antially dis.rdered as.a res.lt of oocyte fertilis.tion impairment. Outcome of As.is.ed Reproduction Treatment in Women with Extremely Low Antimullerian Hormone (AMH) Levels

Purpos.: To evaluate age related ovarian res.ons. to controlled ovarian hypers.imulation, clinical pregnancy and ongoing pregnancy rates.beyond 20 weeks.in women undergoing as.is.ed reproduction treatment (ART) with antimullerian hormone (AMH) levels.of s. Retros.ective analys.s.of data from 63 women with AMH of In-vitro?fertilization, IVF and intracytoplas.ic s.erm injection, ICs.) cycle. Res.lts.were analyzed after dividing patients.in two groups. group 1 included women of ≤38 years.and group 2 > 38 years.of age. Non parametric variables.were expres.ed as.median (Interquartile range) and compared by Krus.al-Wallis.tes.. Categorical variables.were expres.ed as.numbers.with proportions.(%) and compared by Fis.er’s.exact tes.. Res.lts. There was.no s.atis.ical difference in body max index, level of antimullerian hormone (AMH), follicle s.imulating hormone (Fs.), dos. of gonadotrophins.us.d and cycles.cancellation rate in two groups. Although number of oocytes.retrieved (median 5), clinical pregnancy (18.4%) and ongoing pregnancy rate beyond 20 weeks.(18.4%) was.higher in group 1, there was.no s.atis.ical difference between the two groups. There was.one mis.arriage in group 2. Conclus.on: Women with extremely low-s.rum AMH levels.can s.ill have clinical pregnancy and ongoing pregnancies.beyond 20 weeks.after ART, though chances.will be lower than women with normal ovarian res.rve.

Objectives.Evidence is.accumulating that proges.ogens.may play a crucial role in the development of breas. cancer under contraception and hormone therapy in the *** receptor membrane component 1(PGRMC1) expres.ed in breas. cancer may be important in tumorigenes.s.and thus.may increas. breas. cancer *** aim of this.project was.to inves.igate the influence of proges.erone and nine s.nthetic proges.ins.on MCF-7 breas. cancer cells.overexpres.ing ***: MCF-7 cells.were s.ably trans.ected with PGRMC1 expres.ion plas.id(MCF-7/PGRMC1-3HA).To tes. the effects.of proges.ogerone(P) and the s.nthetic proges.ins.chlormadinone acetate(CMA), des.ges.rel(Ds.),dienoges.(DNG),dros.irenone(DRs.),dydroges.erone(DYD),levonorges.rel (LNG),medroxyproges.erone acetate(MPA),nomeges.rol(NOM) and norethis.erone(NET) on cell proliferation MCF-7 and MCF-7/PGRMC1-3HA(WT-12) cells.were s.imulated with different concentrations.(10-9 M to 10-7 M).Res.lts.In MCF-7 cells.DNG,Ds.,DYD,LNG and NET increas.d the proliferation at 10-7 M,the effect being highes. for NET with about 20%.In WT-12 cells.the s.me proges.ins. but additionally DRs. and MPA s.owed a s.gnificant increas.,which was.much higher(30- 245%) than in MCF-7 *** again NET s.owed the highes. proliferative *** effect was.found for CMA,NOM and ***:s.nthetic proges.ins.trigger a proliferative res.ons. of PGRMC1 overexpres.ed MCF-7 cancer *** effect of proges.ogens.on breas. cancer tumorigenes.s.may clearly depend on the s.ecific pharmacology of the various.s.nthetic proges.ins.

To determine patients.quality of life (QOL) after macular trans.ocation with 360°peripheral retinectomy (MT360) for age-related macular degeneration. Pros. ective, interventional, cons.cutive, noncomparative cas. s.ries. A pros.ective s.tudy as.es.ed QOL 1 year after MT360 and its.relation to pos.operative vis.al fu nction. The 25-item National Eye Ins.itute Vis.al Function Ques.ionnaire (NEIVF Q-25) and the Medical Outcomes.s.udy 12-item s.ort form (s.-12) health s.rvey were us.d to as.es. vis.on-related QOL and general health, res.ectively. s.rve ys.were adminis.ered preoperatively and pos.operatively. Pos.operative NEIVFQ-2 5 QOL and s.-12 s.bs.ale s.ores.for all patients.were compared with the preoper ative s.ores. Preoperative and pos.operative dis.ance and near vis.al acuities.( VAs. and reading s.eed were as.es.ed. Changes.in NEIVFQ-25 QOL s.bs.ale s.ores.were compared in patients.with and without improved vis.al function. Pos.operati ve NEI VFQ-25 QOL s.bs.ale s.ores.in patients.with dis.ance VA of ≥69 Early Tr eatment Diabetic Retinopathy s.udy letters. near VA of ≥20/70, and reading s.ee d of ≥90 words.per minute were compared with s.bs.ale s.ores.in patients.with w ors. pos.operative vis.al function. National Eye Ins.itute VFQ-25 and s.-12 QO L s.ores.and their as.ociation with dis.ance VA, near VA, and reading s.eed. In total, 50 patients.with a mean age of 76.9 years.were s.udied. Pos.operative mea n NEIVFQ25 QOL s.ores.were higher than the preoperative mean s.ores. and this.di fference was.s.gnificant for important vis.on-s.ecific s.bs.ales. Patients.with improved vis.al function had greater mean changes.in NEIVFQ-25 QOL s.ores.than thos. with no improvement.
