It is commonly known that psychological stress affects immunity through the nervous system,but the specific stress networks between brain and peripheral leukocytes,or their relationship with disease initiation or progression have yet to been delineated.A recent study by Poller and his colleagues1 propose an innovative perspective that distinct brain circuits rapidly manipulate a large-scale whole-body re-distribution of leukocytes(neutrophils,monocytes,lymphocytes)during psychological stress.

Unlike tumor chemotherapy,tumor immunotherapy relies heavily on the immune system of the patients.In recent years,immunotherapeutic approaches that target the immune checkpoint(ICT)pathways,have shown promise in cancer treatment,though resistance due to tumor-induced immunosuppression remains a major hurdle in some patients(Saleh and Elkord,2020).

Lipids are the major components of cells in the central nervous system(CNS) and are essential for the brain development and homeostasis. Several studies have demonstrated that impaired lipid metabolism is closely related to neurological diseases among the elderly^(1). Lipidomics can serve us well in identifying and quantifying lipid molecules in cells, tissues, and organisms at the system level. However, finding out biologically meaningful lipids from the massive lipidomics data is not straightforward.

This paper concerns with optimal designs for a wide class of nonlinear models with informa-tion driven by the linear predictor.The aim of this study is to generate an R-optimal design which minimizes the product of the main diagonal entries of the inverse of the Fisher informa tion matrix at certain values of the parameters.An equivalence theorem for the locally R optimal designs is provided in terms of the intensity function.Analytic solutions for the locally saturated R-optimal designs are derived for the models having linear predictors with and without intercept,respectively.The particle swarm optimization method has been employed to generate locally non-saturated R-optimal designs.Numerical examples are presented for ilustration of the locally R-optimal designs for Poisson regression models and proportional hazards regression models.

The relationship between chronic psychological stress and tumorigenesis has been well defined in epidemiological studies;however, the underlying mechanism remains underexplored. In this study, we discovered that impaired macrophage phagocytosis contributed to the psychological stressevoked tumor susceptibility, and the stress hormone glucocorticoid(GC) was identified as a principal detrimental factor. Mechanistically, GC disturbed the balance of the "eat me" signal receptor(low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-1, LRP1) and the "don’t eat me" signal receptor(signal regulatory protein alpha, SIRPa). Further analysis revealed that GC led to a direct, glucocorticoid receptor(GR)-dependent trans-repression of LRP1 expression, and the repressed LRP1, in turn, resulted in the elevatedgene level of SIRPa by down-regulating mi RNA-4695-3 p. These data collectively demonstrate that stress induces the imbalance of the LRP1/SIRPa axis and entails the disturbance of tumor cell clearance by macrophages. Our findings provide the mechanistic insight into psychological stress-evoked tumor susceptibility and indicate that the balance of LRP1/SIRPa axis may serve as a potential therapeutic strategy for tumor treatment.

herpes simplex virus type 1(HSV-1),a neurotropic herpes virus,is able to establish a lifelong latent infection in the human host.Following primary replication in mucosal epithelial cells,the virus can enter sensory neurons innervating peripheral tissues via nerve termini.The viral genome is then transported to the nucleus where it can be maintained without producing infectious progeny,and thus latency is established in the cell.Yin-Yang balance is an essential concept in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)theory.Yin represents stable and inhibitory factors,and Yang represents the active and aggressive factors.When the organism is exposed to stress,especially psychological stress caused by emotional stimulation,the Yin-Yang balance is disturbed and the virus can re-engage in productive replication,resulting in recurrent diseases.Therefore,a better understanding of the stress-induced susceptibility to HSV-1 primary infection and reactivation is needed and will provide helpful insights into the effective control and treatment of HSV-1.here we reviewed the recent advances in the studies of HSV-1 susceptibility,latency and reactivation.We included mechanisms involved in primary infection and the regulation of latency and described how stress-induced changes increase the susceptibility to primary and recurrent infections.

Restricted by the availability of investors’account data,existing studies know little about the reasons for differences in investors’return in financial markets.Given this,this paper,based on the unique account data,reveals that the differences in investors’return are correlated to their locations in the social network.Conclusions are as follows.(1)Investors’social network constructed based on the submission time of completed orders describes the information diffusion process of financial markets.Information diffuses from the center of the network to the edge,and investors’return depends on their position in the network.(2)Investors’social network affects their return through the positive spillover mechanism of their behavior.Wealthy investors are in the center of the social network,the stronger the information sharing,the higher the status in the network,the higher the return;while retail investors are on the edge of the social network,and when their network centrality is certain,they even suffer return penalty for information sharing.(3)The speed of information diffusion in investors’social network has an important impact on asset pricing.Stocks’volatility,return,and liquidity are high in financial markets with an intermediate level of information diffusion speed.This paper puts forward new reasons for differences in investors’return from the perspective of investors’social network,and holds that big data in the capital market deserve further exploration with the social network method.

We formulate a system of integro-differential equations to model the dynamics of competition in a two-species community,in which the mortality,fertility and growth are sizedependent.Existence and uniqueness of nonnegative solutions to the system are analyzed.The existence of the stationary size distributions is discussed,and the linear stability is investigated by means of the semigroup theory of operators and the characteristic equation technique.Some sufficient conditions for asymptotical stability/instability of steady states are obtained.The resulting conclusion extends some existing results involving age-independent and age-dependent population models.
