Evolutionary fingerprint, phylogenetic and forest structure of tropical montane Atlantic cloud forests along an elevation gradient

Environmental conditions can change markedly over geographical distances along elevation gradients,making them natural laboratories to study the processes that structure *** w.rk aimed to assess the influences of elevation on Tropical Montane Cloud Forest plant communities in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest,a historically neglected *** evaluated the phylogenetic structure,forest structure(tree basal area and tree density)and species richness along an elevation gradient,as w.ll as the evolutionary fingerprints of elevation-success on phylogenetic lineages from the tree *** do so,w. assessed nine communities along an elevation gradient from 1210 to 2310 m *** large elevation *** relationships betw.en elevation and phylogenetic structure,forest structure and species richness w.re investigated through Linear *** occurrence of evolutionary fingerprint on phylogenetic lineages w.s investigated by quantifying the extent of phylogenetic signal of elevation-success using a genus-level molecular *** results show.d decreased species richness at higher elevations and independence betw.en forest structure,phylogenetic structure and *** also verified that there is a phylogenetic signal associated w.th elevation-success by *** concluded that the elevation is associated w.th species richness and the occurrence of phylogenetic lineages in the tree communities evaluated in Mantiqueira *** the other hand,elevation is not associated w.th forest structure or phylogenetic ***,closely related taxa tend to have their higher ecological success in similar ***,w. highlight the fragility of the tropical montane cloud forests in the Mantiqueira Range in face of environmental changes(*** w.rming)due to the occurrence of exclusive phylogenetic lineages evolutionarily adapted to environmental conditions(*** temperature)associated w.th each elevation range.

Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** the grow.ng body of evidence on blood-flow.restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study w.s to identify risk factors associated w.th higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) w.th BFR on this ***:Tw. hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all w.th a glomerular filtration rate of w.re supervised by a strength and conditioning ***:Several variables w.re associated w.th elevated levels of D-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD ***,RE+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 *** w.th borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated w.th a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients w.o w.sh to undergo RE+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during RE+BFR.

Granite-gneiss rock outcrop inselbergs are ancient stable ecosystems w.th old,climaticallybuffered infertile landscapes(OCBILs).Although inselbergs provide key ecosystem services,little is done for their conservation and,so far,a lot of their unknow. evolutionary history has already been lost by human *** a fine-scale approach,here w. tested if habitat and environmental filtering(the inselberg’s harshness)affect the evolutionary diversity of an Atlantic Forest inselberg in *** recorded all trees w.th a diameter at breast height≥5cm in 20 plots in four habitat types(total sampled area of 0.8 hectares),from highest to low.st:island,hillside,foothill,and semideciduous forest(matrix).w. also collected soil samples for chemical,textural and physical soil *** fitted linear models to test the effects of soil and habitat on plotlevel metrics of phylogenetic diversity and structure,lineage diversity,phylogeneticβ-diversity,and evolutionary *** found that the upper inselberg habitats contain a distinct set of ancient,closely related,harsh-tolerant lineages,as w.ll as a subset of lineages that persist under harsh conditions w.th a certain degree of w.ter *** inferior inselberg habitats harbor higher lineage diversity than expected by *** strongly predicted evolutionary *** concluded that soil depth,slope,nutrients and texture(environmental filtering)and habitat types and topography(habitat filtering)shape the evolutionary history contained in fine-scale inselberg habitats,w.ich should encourage the conservation of these ancient ecosystems.

Glyphosate is a herbicide that has been w.dely used w.rldw.de and is used in agricultural areas to control w.eds and unw.nted *** sensors developed from different nanomaterials have high efficiency,excellent cost-benefit,and fast analysis time for detecting traces of environmental *** study aimed to produce an electrochemical sensor w.th disposable screen-printed electrodes based on carbon black modified w.th niobium nanoparticles to determine glyphosate in aqueous *** morphology,structure and electrochemical performance of the sensor w.re characterized by scanning electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction and cyclic *** pulse voltammetry in BR buffer solution at pH 5.0 allow.d the generation of a method to quantify glyphosate concentration in a linear range of 5.90-172.30μmol/L(1.00-29.13μg/mL),w.th a limit of detection calculated at 3.07μmol/L(0.52μg/mL).The method efficiently quantified glyphosate in real w.ter samples and show.d no interference from K^(+),Na^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+)ions or thiamethoxam,imidacloprid and carbendazim pesticides.

Treatment of peripheral nerve injuries remains a challenge to modern medicine due to the com-plexity of the neurobiological nerve regenerating process. There is a greater challenge w.en the transected nerve ends are not amenable to primary end-to-end tensionless neurorraphy. w.en facing a segmental nerve defect, great effort has been made to develop an alternative to the au-tologous nerve graft in order to circumvent morbidity at donor site, such as neuroma formation, scarring and permanent loss of function. Tubolization techniques have been developed to bridge nerve gaps and have been extensively studied in numerous experimental and clinical trials. The use of a conduit intends to act as a vehicle for moderation and modulation of the cellular and molecular ambience for nerve regeneration. Among several conduits, vein tubes w.re validated for clinical application w.th improving outcomes over the years. This article aims to address the investigation and treatment of segmental nerve injury and draw.the current panorama on the use of vein tubes as an autogenous nerve conduit.

Hydrological variability and long-term floristic-structural modifications in different habitats of a tropical semi-deciduous forest

Shifts in hydrological regimes alter river flow.rates and flood pulses, decrease environmental heterogeneity and the floristic-structural complexity of associated plant communities. w. tested the hypothesis that drought events affect plant community composition and structure at a small-scale w.thin a riparian fragment tow.rds a reduction in floristic-structural complexity. The tree community w.s sampled in three habitats (w.t, transitional and dry) and monitored in seven inventories carried out betw.en 1991 and 2018. Hydrological variations w.re evaluated through annual rainfalls, river flow.rates and w.ter level data. The species richness and the detrended correspondence analysis axes w.re used to characterise the temporal modifications in floristic composition. Community structure w.s described in terms of biomass: accumulated, grow.h of survivors, mortality and recruitment. Generalised linear mixed models w.re fitted to evaluate the effects of time and environment in community. It w.s concluded that the climate has become drier in recent years due to declining precipitation that has affected flow.rates and w.ter levels. The floristic-structural complexity of the study fragment w.s maintained during the monitoring period. How.ver, prolonged and extreme drought events displayed the potential to impact floristic-structural patterns.

Spatiotemporal Variability of Methane over the Amazon from satellite Observations

The spatiotemporal variability of the greenhouse gas methane （CH4） in the atmosphere over the Amazon is studied using data from the space-borne measurements of the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder on board NAsa＇s AQUA satellite for the period 2003-12. The results show.a pronounced variability of this gas over the Amazon Basin low.ands region, w.ere w.tland areas occur. CH4 has a w.ll-defined seasonal behavior, w.th a progressive increase of its concentration during the dry season, follow.d by a decrease during the w.t season. Concerning this variability, the present study indicates the important role of ENSO in modulating the variability of CH4 emissions over the northern Amazon, w.ere this association seems to be mostly linked to changes in flooded areas in response to ENSO-related precipitation changes. In this region, a CH4 decrease （increase） is due to the E1 Nifio-related （La Nifia-related） dryness （w.tness）. On the other hand, an increase （decrease） in the biomass burning over the southeastern Amazon during very dry （w.t） years explains the increase （decrease） in CH4 emissions in this region. The present analysis identifies the tw. main areas of the Amazon, its northern and southeastern sectors, w.th remarkable interannual variations of CH4. This result might be useful for future monitoring of the variations in the concentration of CH4, the second-most important greenhouse gas, in this area.
