Above-Optimum Temperature-Induced Differential Photosynthetic and Roots Morphometric Responses in Two Contrasting Rice Genotypes

Temperature thresholds during the rice （Oryza sativa L.） cycle development have been reported to affect plant metabolism Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of the above-optimal temperature on photosynthetic and morphometric parameters in two contrasting irrigated rice genotypes （BRS Quer^ncia--sensitive and Nagina 22 （N22）~tolerant）. Plants of both genotypes were grown in rhizotrons and always maintained under two temperature conditions： Out--under environmental temperature conditions, and In--rhizotrons inside a plastic structure, which increased the temperature about 3 ~C to 5 ~C above the external one. In the genotype N22, there was an increase （twofold higher） in CO2 assimilation in plants cultivated under elevated temperature （In）. In BRS Quer^ncia, the stomatal conductance （gs） and transpiration rate （e） decreased upon high temperature. The rise in the temperature also negatively impacted in the modulated fluorescence parameters in both genotypes. Increases in root dry weight （RDW） and shoot dry weight （SDW） were also observed in the genotype N22 when compared to BRS Quer^ncia upon temperature rise. In general, the N22 genotype showed greater response to the above-optimal temperature due to its intrinsic thermotolerance traits over BRS Quer^ncia. Thus, N22 appeared as a potential donor of heat tolerance genes aiming to obtain new cultivar to face current global wanning.

Introduction: Cryofrequency is a novel therapy which was developed with the combination of cold (cryotherapy) and heat (radiofrequency) application, causing a thermal shock effect on skin tissue. The thermal shock is believed to alter local metabolism. Objective: To investigate the effect of cryofrequency on the skin tissue of a mini pig in an em>in vitro em>and em>in vivoem> experimental model. Methodology: A small swine of the em>S. domesticus em>species, a male mini-pig (30 kg weight) was elected for the em>in vivoem> procedure subject. The em>in vitroem> step was performed on the extracted abdominal part of another subject of the same species and breed. Then, after the application of cryofrequency in the monopolar and bipolar form em>in vivoem>, a histological analysis was performed. Results: A higher temperature variation was observed comparing the pilot study em>in vitro em>with respect to the experimental one em>in vivoem>. Microscopically, an increase of collagen fibers and blood supply and decreased adipose tissue was observed after cryofrequency application. Conclusion: With the bipolar cryofrequency, no reduction of adipose tissue was observed, but regarding the connective tissue, extensive areas of collagen deposition were observed, as well as a great amount of new-formed collagen fibers.

A parameter that allows an evaluation of power quality transmitted, or distributed, between energy source and the final user is electric system power factor. Among other aspects, a bigger power factor, close to unit value, relieves operational conditions of lines and cables, besides, it improves feeder＇s voltage behavior. Due to load variation along the day, the dynamic compensation of power factor allows maintaining this parameter close to the ideal. This paper brings a study about a reactive dynamic compensator based on the voltage control in a capacitive element, varying the reactive energy in accordance with the system demand, everything from the energy efficiency point of view. In distribution systems, the losses due to this variable compensation can be lower than in other compensation methods and also the voltage presents a better behavior, justifying its application.

关于热带雨林(对火敏感)和开放地层(耐火)之间边界所涉及过程的认识对于保护生物多样性和生态系统服务至关重要,尤其是在气候变化和人为压力增加的情况下。本文调查了位于巴西东南部的espinhaco生物圈保护区内的森林岛屿和湿润草原同时出现的主要环境因素。我们使用Costa(2018)布置的永久样地来收集森林岛屿的土壤变量(水分和化学性质)。对于湿润草原的采样,我们从岛屿边缘沿不同方向设置了4条30m的线。随后,我们在每条线上划了3个点,每个点相距10m,每个区域共12个点。我们还调查了处理火烧前后的植被覆盖情况,并对环境变量进行均值检验和主成分分析。研究结果显示,森林岛屿土壤中钾、盐基总量、阳离子交换容量和有机质的值均高于湿润草地。因此,两种植被类型之间的边界定义似乎主要与土壤肥力和水分梯度有关。在对这些地区进行火烧处理后,在岛屿边缘附近没有发现树木个体的再生。因此,这些研究结果表明,由于明确的土壤气候条件,森林岛屿无法扩张。因此,这些环境应该成为设计公共保护政策的目标焦点,因为它们增加了山地岩石草原植被景观的复杂性。

Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(Re) with BFR on this ***:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of e Re+BFR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 min sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).Re repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning ***:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD ***,Re+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 *** with borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo Re+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during Re+BFR.

euborellia annulipes Mortality and Predation on Diatraea saccharalis eggs after Application of Chemical and Biological Insecticides

Chemical and biological insecticides have been frequently used in sugarcane fields to control insects-pests, including the sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis. Among the products used, those based on chlorantraniliprole and Metarhizium anisopliae entomopathogenic fungus, stand out. euborellia annulipes is an insect of the order Dermaptera considered a potential predator of sugarcane borer eggs. This study aimed to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of the bioinsecticide based on M. anisopliae (Metarril®) and the chemical insecticide chlorantraniliprole (Altacor®) on the mortality of e. annulipes nymphs and adults, the predation and feeding preference of earwigs in eggs treated with the formulated products. Predator mortality was evaluated for seven days after treatment, while the effect on predation was analyzed by preference tests with and without choice, using prey eggs. The products tested were selective to the predator, causing ≤ 2% mortality and not affecting predation. The application of M. anisopliae on sugarcane borer eggs favored the food preference of fourth-instar nymphs, males, and females of the predator. Our results show that Metarril® and Altacor® can be used to control D. saccharalis when associated with the predator e. annulipes.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the differences in composition among six brands of conventional soybean and six genetically modified cultivars (GM). We focused on the isoflavones profile and mineral content questioning the substantial equivalence between conventional and GM organisms. The statement of compliance label for conventional grains was verified for the presence of genetic modified genes by real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). We did not detect the presence of the 35S promoter in commercial samples, indicating the absence of transgene insertion. For mineral analysis, we used the method of inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OeS). Isoflavones quantification was performed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed no statistical difference between the conventional and transgenic soybean groups concerning isoflavone content and mineral composition. The concentration of potassium, the main mineral component of soy, was the highest in conventional soybeans compared to that in GM soy, while GM samples presented the highest concentrations of iron.

An Online mtDNA Tool for Identification of Neotropical Psittacid Species and Taxonomic Issues:A Study Case of the Amazona ochrocephala Complex

Parrots are among the most popular pets in the world and they are also some of the most illegally traded, particularly in Brazil. Some computational tools were recently developed by researchers based on molecular databases for taxonomy support, forensic identification and conservation purposes. In this study, the DNA Surveillance platform was used to build an online database tool for molecular identification of Brazilian Psittacids using DNA sequences of six mitochondrial genes. To illustrate possible taxonomic issues of the online tool due to interspecific hybridization or unresolved taxonomy, we focused on Amazona aestiva that is considered as one of the most common parrots in Brazil, commonly bred as pets, and considered to be part of a species complex with Amazona ochrocephala from South America. We provide three curated sequence databases, which allow the species identification of individuals or tissue samples of birds of the Psittacidae family using mitochondrial DNA markers, and a comprehensive description of a taxonomic issue involving the A. ochrocephala complex. The results obtained corroborate previous studies suggesting that these species are not reciprocally monophyletic, due to either an ancient hybridization in central Brazil, or, they maybe just are morpho-varieties of the same species. Alternatively, if A. aestiva and A. ochrocephala were considered as sister species, the data could be interpreted either as a result of secondary contact or incipient speciation. Beyond the use of mtDNA for species identification, the high mtDNA haplotype diversity observed in A. aestiva indicates its potential use in discrimination of lineages that could be an important auxiliary tool to certify the captive origin of legally commercialized parrots.

This study assessed the quality parameters and consumer perception and behavior of butter processed with different ratios of cow and sheep milk *** milk cream butter(CMCB)showed lower moisture content and higher fat content,smaller fat globules,and higher concentrations of long-chain saturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids,resulting in improved potential health *** addition,CMCB showed yellow color,little salt,and butter taste as the main sensory characteristics,resulting in grateful and good digestibility *** milk cream addition improved the rheological properties of the products(lower viscosity,consistency index,and rigidity(J0),and higher fluidity and viscoelastic behavior(J1)),mainly due to the increased concentrations of short-chain and medium-chain saturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty ***,sheep milk cream butter(SMCB)was characterized by a greasy and striking aroma,with a lower perception of good digestibility and good appearance,and a higher bitter *** association of cow and sheep milk cream could be an exciting option to obtain products with improved fatty acid profiles,health indices,and yet maintain desired rheological and sensory *** formulation with 60%sheep milk cream and 40%cow milk cream would be the suggested combination.
