Background: To inv.stigate the effects of the association of semi-ablativ. fractional radiofrequency (RFF) with growth factors in stretch marks. Methods: This is a randomized controlled trial. The sample consisted of 28 female patients with complaints of gluteus or abdomen striae and div.ded into 2 equitable groups, named G1 (semi-ablativ. RFF without activ. principle association) and G2 (semi-ablativ. RFF with activ. principle association), being subdiv.ded into G-1A and G-2A (abdominal applications) and G-1B and G-2B (gluteus applications). A photographic and histological analysis was performed using questionnaires about inflammation, presence of adv.rse effects and satisfaction of v.lunteers. Photographic analysis showed a reduction in the amount of striae alba in all groups. Results: The histological analysis showed an increase in fibroblast activ.ty, collagen type I, and blood v.ssels, especially in the groups that associated the RFF with the activ. principle. In the inflammation analysis, the groups that performed interv.ntion with activ. ingredients showed lower inflammatory signal. All groups had a reasonable lev.l of satisfaction after the interv.ntions;howev.r, the group that used activ. ingredients reported greater results. Conclusion: The association of semi ablativ. RFF with growth factors showed a reduction in clinical inflammatory signs, mainly in the first 15 days, as well as higher collagen production, v.rified in 30 days, with satisfactory clinical results in all groups.

The present inv.stigation is based on the results of a directionally solidified （DS） Sn-9 wt%Zn-2 wt%Cu alloy, including primary/secondary/tertiary dendrite arm spacings of the Sn-rich matrix, the morphologies of the eutectic mixture and the corresponding interphase spacing, the nature and proportion of the Cu-Zn intermetallic compound （IMC）. The main purpose is to establish interrelations of these microstructure features with experimental solidification thermal parameters, such as cooling rates and growth rates （v., macrosegregation and hardness. Such interrelations are interesting for both industry and academy since they represent a tool permitting the preprogramming of final properties based on the design of the microstructure. In the case of Sn-Zn-Cu alloys, hardly anything is known about the combined effects of the length scale of the microstructure and fraction and distribution of the primary IMC on hardness. The alloy microstructure is composed of a β-Sn dendritic region, surrounded by a eutectic mixture of α-Zn and β-Sn phases and the γ-Cu5Zn8 IMC. The eutectic interphase spacing v.ries in the range 1.2-3.6 μm, with the α-Zn phase hav.ng a globular morphology for ν 〉 0.5 mm/s and a needle-like morphology for ν 〈 0.3 mm/s. A modified Hall-Petch-type experimental expression relating hardness to the interphase spacing is proposed.

Effects of Tecar Therapy on Adipose Tissue: Clinical Trial

Introduction: Localised adiposity is one of the leading aesthetic alteration complaints. Tecar therapy has been used in clinical practice for the treatment of fat located in the abdominal region. Objectiv.: The objectiv. is to analyse the effect of Tecar therapy on abdominal adiposity. Methodology: This is a clinical trial in which the participants were 32 female v.lunteers who hav. flaccidity and fat located in the abdominal region. The v.lunteers were div.ded into three groups, which respectiv.ly receiv.d applications of the capacitiv. mode, the resistiv. mode, and combined therapy of the two modalities. We hav. performed ten applications and analysed the anthropometric measures, the ultrasonography of the adipose layer, and the lev.l of satisfaction. Results: All groups presented a reduction in perimetry compared to the baseline (p = 0.001). The ultrasonography showed a significant reduction in the combined therapy group compared to the baseline (p = 0.04 and p = 0.03). The lev.l of satisfaction was good in all groups, with few adv.rse responses. In the bodyweight and percentage of fat analyses, we observ.d an increase in measurements, probably due to the restriction measures related to the new coronav.rus pandemic in 2020. Conclusion: In this present study, we hav. concluded that Tecar therapy resulted in a reduction of the fat located in the abdominal region.

Introduction: Cryofrequency is a nov.l therapy which was dev.loped with the combination of cold (cryotherapy) and heat (radiofrequency) application, causing a thermal shock effect on skin tissue. The thermal shock is believ.d to alter local metabolism. Objectiv.: To inv.stigate the effect of cryofrequency on the skin tissue of a mini pig in an in v.tro and in v.v. experimental model. Methodology: A small swine of the S. domesticus species, a male mini-pig (30 kg weight) was elected for the in v.v. procedure subject. The in v.tro step was performed on the extracted abdominal part of another subject of the same species and breed. Then, after the application of cryofrequency in the monopolar and bipolar form in v.v., a histological analysis was performed. Results: A higher temperature v.riation was observ.d comparing the pilot study in v.tro with respect to the experimental one in v.v.. Microscopically, an increase of collagen fibers and blood supply and decreased adipose tissue was observ.d after cryofrequency application. Conclusion: With the bipolar cryofrequency, no reduction of adipose tissue was observ.d, but regarding the connectiv. tissue, extensiv. areas of collagen deposition were observ.d, as well as a great amount of new-formed collagen fibers.

Cryofrequence is the combination of cryotherapy with radiofrequency, which promotes a “thermal shock” to the tissue, working simultaneously to skin flaccidity and localized adiposity. The efficacy of dermatological and hypodermic cryofrequency treatment was ev.luated. This study reports the case of a 45-year-old woman with complaints of flaccidity and fat located in the infra-umbilical region in the preoperativ. period of abdominoplasty. The ev.luation was performed before and after treatment through ev.luation protocols, ultrasound examinations and histological findings through optic microscopy, microfocal and immunohistochemical analysis. The treatment was performed in 4 sessions, with a weekly application, using the BHS 156 FULL®—BODY HEALTH BRASIL®apparatus, the parameters were temperature of -10°C, power in 70%, duration of 8 minutes. After the surgical procedure, parts of treated and untreated abdominal tissues were remov.d for ev.luation. In the tests performed, significant destruction of adipocytes was detected, with consequent reduction of fat and greater expression of caspase-3 in the treated tissue, being constated the macrophage increase by CD68 expression. There was improv.ment in flaccidity, ev.denced by the significant increase in the number of fibroblasts and inflammatory cells positiv. for Ki67, bringing more quantity and better quality to the collagen.

The combination of therapies may be the promising future for the treatment of esthetic alterations more efficiently and in less time, in order to obtain an excellent result. Our objectiv. was to ev.luate the effectiv.ness of hydrolysed collagen associated with radiofrequency and electrostimulation in the treatment of flaccidity in the abdominal and gluteal regions. The sample consisted of 6 women, ev.luated through ev.luation protocols, questionnaires, dynamometry, ultrasound exams, and histological analysis. The v.lunteers were distributed into three subgroups: hydrolysed collagen group (G-1), radiofrequency + hydrolysed collagen group (G-2) and radiofrequency + hydrolysed collagen + electrostimulation group (G-3). The ultrasound analysis of the abdominal muscles showed an increase in muscle thickness in all groups, but not significant (p > 0.05). The histological analysis showed an ev.dent increase in type I collagen in groups G-2 and G-3, with proliferating cells (Ki67+). The results of dynamometry showed significant v.lues in different times (p days (p = 0.03) and with 60 days (p = 0.04). All participants rated the treatment positiv.ly. The use of combined therapies has shown superior results for the treatment of abdominal and gluteal flaccidity when compared with its isolated use, being the combination of therapies important in the treatment of flaccidity.

Introduction: Micro focused ultrasound (MFU) is formed by mechanical wav.s emitted in a focused manner, concentrating thermal energy on a certain point or region, promoting a clinical improv.ment in wrinkles. Objectiv.: ev.luate the effects of micro focused ultrasound on facial rejuv.nation. Methodology: This is an experimental study. The sample consisted of 30 v.lunteers, who were ev.luated before treatment, 45 and 90 days after its beginning. A single application of the MFU was performed across the facial region. The parameters used were: 10 MHz cartridge with depth of 1.5 mm, 7 MHz with depth of 3 mm, and 4 MHz with focal depth of 4.5 mm;doses ranged from 0.1 to 2.0 J, according to the sensitiv.ty of the v.lunteers treated, and the application time was of approximately 90 minutes. Clinical photographic analysis and facial symmetry analysis using Dolphin Imaging software were performed, and v.lidated questionnaires. Two v.lunteers were submitted to blepharoplasty surgery, and one to rhytidoplasty surgery 45 days after the application of the MFU. Samples of the treated skin were taken after the surgical procedures and submitted to histological and immunohistochemical analyses. The v.lunteers answered a questionnaire to assess adv.rse reactions and satisfaction. Results: We observ.d a v.sible clinical improv.ment on the images by photography, and an improv.ment of facial symmetry in the measurements of the paralateronasal projection (p = 0.007), left lateral mandibular (p = 0.01), and right lateral mandibular (p = 0.008). The histological analysis showed an increase in the amount of fibroblasts (p = 0.02), blood v.ssels (p = 0.0062) and inflammatory cells (p = 0.0036), in addition to the production of type 1 collagen. In the immunohistochemical analysis, we observ.d the presence of the macrophage marker IHQ: CD68, indicating phagocytosis of adipose tissue and the presence of fibrosis. Objectiv.: Comparison between semi-ablativ. and non-ablativ. radiofrequency for collagen stimulation. Method: Three v.lunteers with scheduled surgical procedures of abdominoplasty were selected. After the ev.luation, the abdominal area was div.ded into three quadrants, with the right region receiv.ng monopolar non-ablativ. radiofrequency (RF) application. In contrast, the left region receiv.d fractionated radiofrequency (FRF) application, using three different needle sizes (0.5, 1.5, and 3.0 mm), and the intermediate area was kept as a control. After 24 hours, surgery was performed, and the skin flaps were collected for histological and immunohistochemical analyses. Results: An increase in total collagen and type I collagen was observ.d in the treated groups. There was also an increase in the expression of COX-2, CD68 positiv. cells (macrophages), and lymphocyte markers (CD3, CD20, and NK-CD57). Furthermore, it was seen that only the use of 3.0-mm needles kept the channels open in the superficial tissue after 24 hours. There were no significant differences between the modalities. Conclusion: Non-ablativ. and sub-ablativ. radiofrequency hav. positiv. and effectiv. results for flaccidity, demonstrating the success in collagen production. Furthermore, this study is the first to present channel opening and permanence time, which are important to optimize the action of drug deliv.ry.

Influence of Glass Fiber wt% and Silanization on Mechanical Flexural Strength of Reinforced Acrylics

The aim is to ev.luate the flexural strength of acrylic resin bars depending on the addiction of glass fibers with or without prev.ous 3-methacryloxypropyl-trimethoxysilane (silane) application. Short fibers (3 mm) were treated and added to an acrylic resin powder, being further mixed with acrylic liquid to create bars (25 × 2 × 2 mm) of 11 experimental groups (N = 10), according to the interaction of experimental factors: weight % of glass fibers: (0.5;1;3;4;6 and 7) and silane application (with silane (S) or without silane (N)). Flexural strength and scanning microscopy ev.luation were performed (SEM). data (MPa) were submitted to ANOv. and Tukey (α = 5%). A significant difference between groups was observ.d (p = 0.001): S7%(128.85 ± 35.76)a, S6% (119.31 ± 11.97)ab, S4% (116.98 ± 25.23)ab, N4% (107.85 ± 24.88)abc, S1% (96.29 ± 20.65)bc, S0.5% (89.29 ± 7.33)cd, S3% (89.0 ± 11.27)cd, N3% (86.79 ± 17.63)cd, N1% (85.43 ± 16.44)cd, Control (73.29 ± 25.0)de, N0.5% (59.58 ± 19.46)e. For N groups, it was not possible to include more than 4%wt fibers. SEM showed better fiber-resin interaction for S groups, and fractures around fibers on N groups. Prev.ous silane application enables the addiction of greater quantity of glass fibers and better interaction with the acrylic resin resulting in higher flexural strength. Without silane, fibers seem to act as initial crack points due to poor interaction.

Characterization of Fruits in Contrasting Env.ronments and Germination of Tamarillo Seeds at Different Temperatures

Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav. Syn Cyphomandra betacea Cav.) Sendt is a small tree nativ. to the subtropical Andean region of South America from Colombia to Chile, popularly known as arboreal tomato, belonging to the family Solanaceae. The objectiv. of this study was to ev.luate the physicochemical characteristics of fruits and the germination of tamarillo (Solanum betaceum) seeds produced in the Caparaó-ES and MG regions. The following procedures were performed: Fruit and peel biometrics;fruit weight;pulp and peel weight;thousand-seed weight, pulp and peel yield and fruit dry mass. In the physicochemical analysis, the following parameters were determined: pH;soluble solids;titratable acidity and ratio. For the analysis of the physiological quality of the seeds, different temperatures (20°C;25°C;30°C and 20°C - 30°C) were ev.luated in the presence and absence of light and the following was determined: Seed moisture content;germination;germination speed index;germination mean time;shoot length;root and total seedling dry mass. Tamarillo in the region of Caparaó-ES presents greater chemical characteristics of the fruits, germination and v.gor, and in the region of Caparaó-MG presents greater physical characteristics of the fruits. Tamarillo can germinate both in the presence and absence of light, although in the presence of light, it presents greater v.gor.
