BACKGRoUND Metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is a lethal malignancy with dispiriting survival *** is a promising approach to many cancer types,but achieves poor outcomes in advanced PDAC due to its immunosuppressive tumor *** describe a case of metastatic PDAC effectively treated with *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 67-year-old woman with unresectable locally advanced PDAC,treated with gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel followed by radiotherapy plus *** nine months,pancreatic tumor progression was observed at the level of the hepatic hilum with the appearance of a new pulmonary nodule suggestive of a second primary,confirmed by left lung *** immunotherapy was then initiated with pembrolizumab,an immune checkpoint inhibitor targeting programmed cell death protein-1 that covers the two tumor *** patient showed a complete metabolic response that was maintained throughout the *** patient continues to be disease-free at 5.6 years since the start of *** These results suggest that the administration of pembrolizumab after chemoradiotherapy has a beneficial effect in patients with metastatic *** our knowledge,this is the first reported case of a patient with metastatic PDAC and metastatic lung cancer showing such a long-lasting complete response after pembrolizumab treatment without curative *** studies are required to determine biomarkers that identify PDAC patients most likely to benefit from this immunotherapy.

In this study,platinum(Pt)-polyaniline(PANI)/MWNTs catalysts were synthesized by two sequential ***,coreshell structural PANI/MWNTs composites were fabricated by in-situ chemical oxidation polymerization,in which MWNTs act as the core and PANI as the ***,Pt particles were deposited on the PANI/MWNTs composites by a chemical reduction *** morphology and constitution of the products were characterized by FT IR,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and *** was observed that the Pt particles were smaller in size and more uniformly distributed on these composite supports than those on the reference,pure MWNT *** results showed higher Pt(111) content in the catalyst deposited on PANI/MWNTs supports than that on *** cyclic voltammeter(CV) tests demonstrated that the electrode modified by Pt-PANI/MWNTs ternary composite catalyst showed a higher catalytic stability than Pt-MWNT binary catalyst did,due to the synergic interaction between Pt and the composite support.

one of the functions of the immune system is to recognize and destroy abnormal or infected cells to maintain homeostasis. This is accomplished by cytotoxic lymphocytes. Cytotoxicity is a highly organized multifactor process. Here, we reviewed the apoptosis pathways induced by the two main cytotoxic lymphocyte subsets, natural killer （NK） cells and CD8^＋T cells. In base to recent experimental evidence, we reviewed NK receptors involved in recognition of target-cell, as well as lytic molecules such as perforin, granzymes-A and -B, and granulysin. In addition, we reviewed the Fas-Fasl intercellular linkage mediated pathway, and briefly the cross-linking of tumor necrosis factor （TNF） and TNF receptor pathway. We discussed three models of possible molecular interaction between lytic molecules from effector cytotoxic cells and target-cell membrane to induction of apoptosis. Cellular ＆ Molecular Immunology.

Molybdenum-based catalysts for the gas-phase oxidation of propylene with air were investigated. Various types of silica-supported molybdenum oxide and molybdenum-bismuth mixed oxide cata- lysts were prepared from inorganic and organometallic molybdenum precursors using wet impregnation and physical vapor deposition methods. The epoxidation activities of the prepared cata- lysts showed direct correlations with their nanostructures, which were identified using transmission electron microscopy. The appearance of a partly or fully crystalline molybdenum oxide phase, which interacted poorly with the silica support, decreased the selectivity for propylene oxide for- mation to below 10%; non-crystalline octahedrally coordinated molybdenum species anchored on the support gave propylene oxide formations greater than 55%, with 11% propylene conversion. Electrochemical characterization of molybdenum oxides with various morphologies showed the importance of structural defects. Direct promotion by bismuth of the epoxidation reactivities over molybdenum oxides is disputed.

Ventricular Tachycardia Storm (VTS) with hemodynamic instability is a life-threatening arrhythmia more often presents in patients with structural heart disease. lack of response to cardioversion and/or antiarrhythmic drugs will have fatal consequences. We report a case of a hemodynamically unstable patient with Ventricular Tachycardia Storm refractory to intravenous antiarrhythmic medications, which finally responded to a slow bolus of IV potassium chloride. This case emphasizes the importance of identifying an electrolyte imbalance as a possible cause of a Ventricular Tachycardia storm and its rapid correction as an addition to the usual pharmacological treatment.

BACKGRoUND： The interpretation of non-verbal social signals relies heavily on the ability to perceive biological motion. The posterior superior temporal sulcus is an important part of a network involved in biological motion processing. However, the underlying functional organization remains poorly understood. Several studies have suggested topographical representation of motion from different body parts within this region. However, other studies have shown that the posterior superior temporal sulcus responds equally to any body part. oBJECTIVE： Through the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging, the effects of socially relevant biological motion stimuli to activate a specific cortical area within posterior superior temporal sulcus, even if different body parts are involved in motion, will be analyzed. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A functional magnetic resonance imaging, block-design was performed at the Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Surgical Medical Investigation Center, Havana, Cuba between 2004 and 2005. PARTICIPANTS： Thirteen healthy volunteers, from 19 to 55 years of age and compris!ng eight males and five females, were included in the study. METHoDS： A conjunction analysis of responses to natural, dynamic, fearful, facial expressions and point-light, body-motion animations. MAIN oUTCoME MEASURES： The corresponding functionally specialized areas, as well as neural areas significant for both types of stimuli, were identified. RESUlTS： one region within the posterior superior temporal sulcus of the right hemisphere was equally activated by facial and body complex motion. CoNClUSIoN： A site of common neural activity existed within the posterior superior temporal sulcus, which was not specific to a biological motion type. In addition, the activity was not related to a topographically organized body-part map, which suggested high-level visual representation of biological motion in this region.

Necrotizing Fasciitis in low Income Countries: About 23 Cases of Bujumbura Hospitals

Background: Necrotizing fasciitis is a rapidly spreading soft tissue infection involving the deep facial layers. It can cause secondary necrosis leading to significant morbidity and mortality. The most important predictor of mortality is a delay in diagnosis. In low income countries, that delay must be high and other predictors of morbidity and mortality must be pointed out. Objective: To determine necrotizing fasciitis (NF) prognostic factors in a low income country. Patients and Methods: It is a prospective and descriptive study conducted over a one-year period from November 1, 2017 to November 1, 2018 about 23 cases of necrotizing fasciitis in two hospitals of Bujumbura. Results: The incidence of necrotizing fasciitis in these 2 hospitals (Kamenge Teaching Hospital and Prince Regent Charles Hospital) was 1%. The average age of patients was 41.76 years. Males were predominant with a sex ratio of 1.55. The risk factors for NF were: NSAIDs in 39%;HIV infection in 13%, diabetes mellitus in 4% and high blood pressure in 4%. The average time from symptoms onset to admission was 17.13 days. The mean time from admission to surgical treatment was 4 days with extremes of 1 to 22 days. The most affected site was the lower limb in 82% of cases. All patients (96%) were treated with necrotic tissue debridement. It was associated with skin grafting in 48% of cases. One patient (4%) with diabetes mellitus and HIV infection was amputated. The mortality rate was 22% (n = 5). Among those 5 patients, there was a combination of risk factors (diabetes mellitus, NSAID use and HIV infection) in 80% (n = 4), 60% (n = 3) were over 60 years of age and 60% (n = 3) were operated 10 days after the onset of symptoms. The average time of hospital stay was 101 days with extremes of 14 to 400 days. Conclusion: Necro
