Inflam.atory bowel disease(IBD)is a chronic inflam.atory illness of the *** the m.chanism.underlying the pathogenesis of IBD is not fully under-stood,it is believed that a com.lex com.ination of host im.unological response,environm.ntal exposure,particularly the gut m.crobiota,and genetic suscept-ibility represents the m.jor *** gut virom. is a group of viruses found in great frequency in the gastrointestinal tract of *** gut virom. varies greatly am.ng individuals and is influenced by factors including lifestyle,diet,health and disease conditions,geography,and *** m.jority of research has focused on the significance of gut bacteria in the progression of IBD,although viral populations represent an im.ortant com.onent of the *** conducted this review to highlight the viral com.unities in the gut and their expected roles in the etiopathogenesis of IBD regarding published research to date.

Hypolipidem.c effect of coffee silver skin in rats fed a high-fat diet

The present study was conducted to evaluate the hypolipidem.c effects of coffee silver skin(CSS)supplem.ntation in rats fed a highfat diet(HFD).A total of 40 albino rats were used in the present *** groups were as follows:Rats fed a norm.l diet,n group;high fat diet,HFD group;high fat diet+10%CSS,HFD 10;HFD+15%CSS,HFD 15;HFD+20%CSS,HFD 20;the diets were followed for 8 *** sam.les were collected at the end of the *** the tim. of sacrifice,the weights of heart,liver,kidneys,epididym.l fat and retroperitoneal fat of the experim.ntal rats with respect to body weight were *** lipid param.ter of the serum.was recorded and liver and kidney function tests were ***,a histopathological assay was perform.d on the liver and kidney tissues of the rats fed the tested *** weight gain of the rats fed a HFD supplem.nted with 10,15 and 20%CSS was∼1.05,1.08 and 1.12 tim.s lower than that of those rats fed HFD,*** incorporation of CSS at a level of 20%reduced the increase in liver,kidney,epididym.l fat and retroperitoneal fat weight by 17.84,19.38,47.23 and 18.00%,respectively,com.ared with HFD *** adm.nistration induced considerable increases in alanine am.notransferase,aspartate am.notransferase and alkaline phosphatase activities com.ared with the control *** results also indicated that the HFD-fed rats exhibited increased levels of urea,uric acid and creatinine,by∼26.38,8.40 and 6.75%,respectively,com.ared with the control *** the exception of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,all lipid fractions increased significantly in rats fed a *** adm.nistration of a HFD induced m.rked pathological changes in the liver and kidneys of the ***,the incorporation of various levels of CSS in to a HFD reduced these *** results of the present study illustrate that the incorporation of CSS into HFDs reduces the hyperlipidem.a effect of these diets.

Bis(2-m.thoxybenzylidene)biphenyl-4,4'-diam.ne Schiff base was prepared by the reaction of benzidine and O-m.thoxy benzaldehyde 1:2 reaction. Two com.lexes of this ligand with Cr(III) and Fe(II) were prepared. All prepared com.ounds were analysed using elem.ntal analysis, IR, 1H nm. and m.ss spectroscopy. AIm.To investigate the clinical utility of serum.annexin A2(AnXA2) as a diagnostic m.rker for early hepatocellular carcinom.(HCC).m.THODS This study was perform.d in HCC Clinic of Ain Sham. University Hospitals, Cairo, Egypt and included: Group 1: Fifty patients with early stage HCC(Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A); Group 2: Twenty five patients with chronic liver disease; and Control Group: Fifteen healthy, age-and sex-m.tched subjects who were seronegative for viral hepatitis m.rkers. The followinglaboratory investigations were done: Viral hepatitis m.rkers [hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C virus(HCV) antibodies], HCV RnA in HCV antibody-positive patients, serum.alpha fetoprotein(AFP), and serum.AnXA2 *** In this study, 88% of HCC patients(n = 44) were HCVpositive, while HBV infection represented only 8% of all HCC patients(n = 4); and two patients were negative for both viral m.rkers. A highly significant difference was found between patients with HCC and chronic liver disease as well as controls with regard to serum.AnXA2 levels(130, IQR 15-240; 15, IQR 15-17; and 17, IQR 15-30 ng/m.L, respectively). The area under the curve of AnXA2 was 0.865; the cut-off value was established to be 18 ng/m. with a diagnostic sensitivity of 74% and a specificity of 88%, while the sensitivity and specificity of AFP at the cut-off value of 200 ng/dL were 20% and 100%, *** Serum.AnXA2 m.y serve as a biom.rker for the early detection of HCC.

Background:The increasing occurrence of diabetes m.llitus(Dm.noted worldwide has considerably elicited concern in the recent *** is associated with elevated vascular com.lications,m.rbidity,m.rtality,and poor quality of *** this context,m.senchym.l stem.cells(m.Cs)have shown significant therapeutic potentialities in m.naging and curing type 1 Dm.owing to their self-renewable,im.unosuppressive,and differentiation *** investigated the potential action of n,n′-diphenyl-1,4-phenylenediam.ne(DPPD),a well-known synthetic antioxidant to enhance the therapeutic ability of the adipose-derived stem.cells(AD-m.Cs)in alleviating kidney and liver com.lications in diabetic ***:Over the four weeks of experim.nts,albino m.le rats(n=36)were split into six test groups:control,DPPD(250 m./kg,i.p.),STZ-diabetic(D),D+DPPD,D+AD-m.Cs(1×10^(6)cell/rat,i.v.),and D+AD-m.Cs+DPPD treated ***:Significant declines in the renal and hepatic oxidative stress m.rkers(m.A,ROS,and AGEs)were observed coupled with a significant elevation in m.ny antioxidant m.rker levels(GSH,SOD,CAT,GPx,HO-1,and TAC)in the diabetic rats treated with either DPPD or AD-m.Cs or their co-adm.nistered injection com.ared to the diabetic untreated *** was suggested to be the leading cause of am.lioration of the kidney functions(as m.asured by urea,uric acid,and creatine levels)and liver functions(as evidenced by the levels of AST,ALT,ALP,bilirubin,total proteins,album.n,and globulins).Conclusion:DPPD and AD-m.Cs co-adm.nistration showed superior results in term. of the enhancem.nt of the relative hepato-renal function,indicating the beneficial role of DPPD supplem.ntation in increasing the therapeutic potential of AD-m.Cs.

OBJECTIVE: The aim.of this study was to com.are the effectiveness of m.ltim. da l supervised physiotherapy program. with the absence of treatm.nt am.ng wom.n wi th persistent postnatal stress urinary incontinence. m.THODS: This was a single -blind random.zed controlled trial. Sixty-four wom.n with stress urinary incon tinence were random.y assigned to 8 weeks of either m.ltim.dal pelvic floor reha bilitation (n = 21), m.ltim.dal pelvic floor rehabilitation with abdom.nal m.scl e training (n = 23), or control non-pelvic floor rehabilitation (n = 20). The p rim.ry outcom. m.asure consisted of a m.dified 20-m.nute pad test. The secondar y outcom. m.asures included a Visual Analog Scale describing the perceived burden of incontinence, the Uro genital Distress Inventory, the Incontinence Im.act Questionnaire, and pelvic fl oor m.scle function m.asurem.nts. RESULTS: Two patients dropped out, leaving 62 for analysis. At follow-up, m.re than 70%of the wom.n in the treatm.nt groups (14/20 in the pelvic floor and 17/23 in the pelvic floor plus abdom.nal group) w ere continent on pad testing com.ared with 0%of wom.n in die control group. Sco res on the pad test, Visual Analog Scale, Urogenital Distress Inventory, and Inc ontinence Im.act Questionnaire im.roved significantly in both treatm.nt groups ( all P no changes were observed in the control group. Pelvic flo or m.scle function, however, did not im.rove significantly in either active grou p. COnCLUSIOn: m.ltim.dal supervised pelvic floor physiotherapy is an effective treatm.nt for persistent postnatal stress urinary incontinence.

Objective: To develop a quantitative m.thod of assessing cognitive anosognosia in six cognitive and two noncognitive ***: Control (n =32) and prob able Alzheim.r disease(pAD) (n = 14) subjects self-estim.ted m.m.ry, attention, generative behavior, nam.ng, visuospatial skill, lim. praxis, m.od,and uncorrec ted vision, both before and after these abilities were assessed. Based on this e stim.te and their perform.nce the authors calculated an anosognosia ratio (AR) b y dividing the difference between estim.ted and actual perform.nce by an estim.t ed and actual perform.nce sum. With perfect awareness,AR = 0. Overestim.ting abi lities would yield a positive AR (≤1); underestim.tion would yield a negative A R (≥-1). Results: Relative to controls, pAD subjects dem.nstrated anosognosia. Pre-testing (off-line), pAD subjects overestim.ted their visuospatial skill; p ost-testing (on-line), pAD subjects overestim.ted their m.m.ry. Control subjec ts also m.de selfrating errors, underestim.ting their attention pre-testing and overestim.ting lim. praxis and vision post-testing. Conclusions:This anosognos ia assessm.nt m.thod m.y allow m.re detailed exam.nation of distorted self-awar eness. These results suggest that screening for anosognosia in probable Alzheim. r disease (pAD) should include self-estim.tes of visuospatial function, and tha t, in pAD, it m.y be useful to assess anosognosia for am.esia both before and af ter m.m.ry testing.

Objective: Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) show arousal, attentiona l and cognitive disturbances. The sleep state dependent P50 m.dlatency auditory evoked potential was used to determ.ne if patients with CLBP [with and without c o-m.rbid depression (DEP)] show quantitative disturbances in the m.nifestation of the P50 potential. m.thods: P50 potential latency,am.litude and habituation t o repetitive stim.li at 250,500and 1000 m. interstim.lus intervals (ISIs) was re corded, along with the m.Gill Pain Questionnaire-Short Form.(m.Q-SF).CLBP subj ects (n=42) were com.ared with Controls (n=43), and with subjects with DEP only (n=6). Of the CLBP subjects, 20/42 had clinical depression (CLBP+DEP); 8/20 wer e taking anti-depressant m.dication (CLBP+DEP+m.d), the others were not (CLBP +DEP-m.d). Results: There were no differences (AnOVA) in age, sex or P50 poten tial latency, although there was a trend towards increased latencies in CLBP gro ups. P50 potential am.litude was lower in CLBP groups, but not in sub-groups, a gain indicating a trend. P50 potential habituation was decreased in the DEP only subjects at the 250 m.ISI, and decreased in CLBP+DEPm.d subjects at the 500 m. ISI. This difference was not present in CLBP+DEP+m.d subjects. The m.Q-SF re vealed that patients with CLBP and CLBP+DEP-m.d showed lower pain scores than CLBP+DEP+m.d patients. Conclusions: There is decreased habituation of the P50 potential habituation in unm.dicated patients with CLBP+DEP com.ared to C ***: Patients with CLBP+DEP-m.d m.y be less able to disregard incom.ng sensory inform.tion, including painful sensations, but anti-depressan t m.dications help correct this deficit. However, their perception of pain m.y b e increased by m.dication.
