This paper presents a study on thickness dependent physical properties of cadmium selenide thin films. The films of thickness 445, 631 and 810 nm were deposited employing thermal evaporation technique on glass and ITO-coated glass substrates followed by thermal annealing in air atmosphere at 200 °C. These films were subjected to X-ray diffractometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and electrometer for structural, optical,surface morphological and electrical analysis respectively. The structural analysis reveals that the films are nanocrystalline in nature with cubic phase and preferred orientation（111）. The crystallographic parameters such as lattice constant, interplanar spacing, grain size, internal strain, dislocation density, number of crystallites per unit area and texture coefficient are calculated and discussed. The optical band gap is found in the range 1.75-1.92 e V and observed to increase with *** SEM study shows that the annealed films are uniform, fully covered and well defined. The electrical analysis shows that the conductivity is varied with film thickness and found within the order of semiconductor behavior.

Nanostructured porous polyaniline(PANI)has been synthesized and coated simultaneously on a highly flexible and conductive carbon cloth(CC)substrate using a simple in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization *** coated CC(PANI-CC)based flexible electrodes were further used for the fabrication of flexible supercapacitor *** the comparison purpose,pure PANI has also been synthesized and tested for its electrochemical *** energy storage capacity of PANI and PANI–CC composite was investigated using electrochemical techniques like CV,GCD,and EIS in a potential range from 0 to 0.8 V in 1 M H_(2)SO_(4)***-CC flexible electrodes exhibited the highest specific capacitance of 691 F/g;whereas,pure PANI could only achieve 575 F/g of specific capacitance at 1 A/*** also exhibited outstanding cyclic stability by recollecting 94%of its initial capacitance after 2000 GCD *** actual implementation,a flexible supercapacitor device has been fabricated using stainless steel sheets and PANI-CC flexile *** energy storage performance of the PANI-CC flexible supercapacitor device was tested at several bending angles,which resulted in 72%of capacitance retention at a maximum bending angle of 140°compared to the capacitance obtained at an angle 0°(flat state).PANI-CC exhibited improved electrochemical performance than pure PANI due to the synergistic effect between PANI and ***,CC helped in enhancing the conductivity and stability;whereas,PANI boosted the capacitance owing to its excellent porosity and fast pseudocapacitive charge storage response.

Objective:To produce comparative data on a group of Trichomonas vaginalis clonal strains with varied drug responses using identical methods and ***:Five clonal strains of Trichomonas vaginalis were isolated from reference strain using agar plate *** variability of growth kinetic and susceptibility of clonal strain to metronidazole,tinidazole, satranidazole and nitazoxanide were observed in 96 well microlilre ***:Among these clonal strains there was a good correlation between rates of growth with the relative susceptibility of the strains to drugs in *** metronidazole,tinidazole and satranidazole susceptibility,different degrees of susceptibility were ***,no difference in nitazoxanide susceptibility was found between the clonal strain tested and a reference strain. Conclusions:This is the first description of biological variability in clonal stock of Trichomonas *** degrees of drug susceptibility were determined among clonal strains tested. Further studies will be necessary to ascertain the importance of this variability in clinical infection.

Combination of chemopreventive and/or therapeutic agents is the imminent smart approach to cope upwith cancer because it may act on multiple targets through different pathways. In the present study, wehave synthesized multiple chemopreventive and/or therapeutic agents (Curcumin, Quercetin andAspirin) loaded nanoparticles by simple cation-anion interaction among the amine groups of chitosan(CS) and phosphate groups of sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP). These nanosized bioactive materials(CS-SHMP-CQA-NPs) were well characterized and found most effective in colon cancer cell line (HCT-116)compared to other cancer cell lines. Triplex chemopreventive and/or therapeutic agents-loaded NPs weresynergistically inducing apoptosis in HCT-116 cells compared to two-chemopreventive agents-loadedNPs as evident by an increase in sub-G1 cells (percent), and chromatin condensation along with thedecrease in mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). Interestingly, ChoueTalalay analysis revealedthat CS-SHMP-CQA-NPs showed strong synergistic effect in its all doses. Thus, our study demonstratesthat nanoparticles based bioactive materials significantly inhibit the growth of HCT-116 cells and thuscould be a promising approach for colon cancer chemoprevention.

Effect of potassium on soil conservation and productivity of maize/cowpea based crop rotations in the north-west Indian Himalayas

Plots under conservation tillage may require higher amount of potassium(K) application for augmenting productivity due to its stratification in upper soil layers, thereby reducing K supplying capacity in a medium or long-term period. To test this hypothesis, a field experiment was performed in 2002-2003 and 2006-2007 to study the effect of K and several crop rotations on yield, water productivity, carbon sequestration, grain quality, soil K status and economic benefits derived in maize(Zea mays L)/cowpea(Vigna sinensis L.) based cropping system under minimum tillage(MT). All crops recorded higher grain yield with a higher dose of K(120 kg K2 O ha-1) than recommended K(40 kg K2 O ha-1). The five years' average yield data showed that higher K application(120 kg K2 O ha-1) produced 16.4%(P<0.05)more maize equivalent yield. Cowpea based rotation yielded 14.2%(P<0.05) higher production than maize based rotation. The maximum enhancement was found in cowpea-mustard rotation. Relationship between yield and sustainable indices revealed that only agronomic efficiency of fertilizer input was significantly correlated with yield. Similarly, higherdoses of K application not only increased the water use efficiency(WUE) of all crops, but also reduced runoff and soil loss by 16.5% and 15.8% under maize and 23.3% and 19.7% under cowpea cover, respectively. This study also revealed that on an average 16.5% of left over carbon input contributed to soil organic carbon(SOC). Here, cowpea based rotation with the higher K application increased carbon sequestration in soil. Potassium fertilization also significantly improved the nutritional value of harvested grain by increasing the protein content for maize(by 9.5%) and cowpea(by 10.6%). The oil content in mustard increased by 5.0% and 6.0% after maize and cowpea, respectively. Background and aims:GM(General-Motors)diet is a low-calorie 7-day diet plan using complex carbohydrates used for quick weight *** optimisation is known to decrease steatosis and improve outcomes in liver *** evaluated the efficacy and feasibility of using GM diet in steatotic live liver donors(LLD).Methods:LLDs who either had BMI>30 kg/m^(2),Computerised tomography liver attenuation index(CT-LAI)10%were started on GM diet for 1 *** of these LLDs and their recipients were retrieved retrospectively and ***,liver function tests(LFT),MR fat-frac-tion,CT-LAI,hospital-stay and complications were analysed in LLDs while early graft dysfunction(EGD)and complications were assessed in ***:A total of 51 LLDs with mean age of 34.6?9.5 years with baseline mean weight of 80.6±10.8 kg and BMI of 29.1±2.78 kg/m^(2) were started on GM *** a week of following the GM diet,there was an average weight loss of 3.46±2.1 kg,a decrease in fat-fraction by 3.8%±2.7,and an improvement in CT-LAI by 6.7?3.7 *** patients could successfully undergo donor hepatectomy with an average postoperative ICU stay of 2.86±0.8 days and hospital stay of 6.82?0.81 *** donor had steatosis>10% on intraoperative Tru-cut biopsy and their post-operative outcomes were similar to normal liver *** were intra-abdominal collections in 2 donors requiring drainage and one required re-exploration for intestinal *** was EGD in 8 recipients(15.6%)and mortality in 1(1.9%)***:GM diet is safe and effective regimen to reduce steatosis and increase healthy LLD pool without compromising donor or recipient safety.
