Multimodal pretraining has made convincing achievements in various downstream tasks in recent ***,since the majority of the existing works construct models based on English,their applications are limited by *** this work,we address this issue by developing models with multimodal and multilingual *** explore two types of methods to extend multimodal pretraining model from monolingual to ***,we propose a pretraining-based model named multilingual multimodal pretraining(MLMM),and two generalization-based models named multilingual CLIP(M-CLIP)and multilingual acquisition(MLA).In addition,we further extend the generalization-based models to incorporate the audio modality and develop the multilingual CLIP for vision,language,and audio(CLIP4VLA).Our models achieve state-of-the-art performances on multilingual vision-text retrieval,visual question answering,and image captioning *** on the experimental results,we discuss the pros and cons of the two types of models and their potential practical applications.

Patient-Specific Design and Biomechanical Evaluation of a Novel Bipolar Femoral Hemi-Knee Prosthesis

While total knee replacement is successful, hemiarthroplasty is necessary for some young, obese and active patients who are especially not suitable for unicompartmental or total knee prostheses. Hemiarthroplasty also provides an opportunity for children with bone tumors. The design ofhemiarthroplasty should be patient-specific to reduce contact stress and friction as well as instability, compared to conventional hemi-knee prosthesis. A novel bipolar hemi-knee prosthesis with two flexion stages was developed according to a healthy male＇s knee morphological profile. The motion mode of the bipolar hemi-knee prosthesis was observed through roentgenoscopy in vitro experiment. The biomechanical properties in one gait cycle were evaluated though finite element simulation. The bipolar hemi-knee prosthesis was found to produce knee flexion at two stages through X-ray images. The first stage is the motion from upright posture to a specified 60~ flexion, followed by the second stage of motion subsequently to deep flexion. The finite element simulation results also show that the designed hemi-knee prosthesis has the ability to reduce stresses on the joint contact surfaces. Therefore, it is possible for the bipolar hemi-knee prosthesis to provide better biotribological performances because it can reduce stresses and potentially wear on the opposing contacting surface during a gait cycle, orovidin~ a t^romisin~ treatment strate^v in future Joint renair znd renlneement

The investigation based on experiments and crystal plasticity simulation is carried out to undertake research on mesodeformation inhomogeneity of metals under cyclic loading at grain *** tension-compression cycle tests are performed on pure copper specimens to observe the inhomogeneous distribution of slip deformation and its evolution with cycle *** hardening process and stable hysteretic behavior of pure copper under cyclic loading are simulated by applying a crystal plasticity constitutive model including nonlinear kinematic hardening associated with the polycrystalline representative volume element(RVE)constructed by Voronoi *** deformation processes of materials under six different strain amplitudes are simulated by 1600 cycles,*** discuss the variation law of the inhomogeneous meso-deformation distribution of material with the increase in cycle number,and research the rationality of characterizing the inhomogeneous deformation distribution and variation with the statistical standard deviation of the micro-longitudinal strain or the statistical average of the first principal strain based on the statistical analysis of the inhomogeneous deformation of the polycrystalline RVE model during the cycling *** is found that these two parameters are related to and approximately inversely proportional to the length of measuring gauge.

An analytical solution for long waves propagating over a submerged atoll is established. The atolls involved in this study are annular coral reefs with large lagoons in the middle, and the expression of the cross section is a trinomial function of the radial distance, i.e., h=ar(2s)-br~s+h_0, where s is the positive rational number. This analytical solution extends the theory by Wang et al.(2018) as s is no longer limited to s=2/m, where m is the positive integer. In addition, by adjusting the terrain parameters properly, the analytic solution can be degenerated to describe the wave propagation over topography with a hump or pit. According to the relationship between wave rays and wave energy, the distribution characteristics and formation mechanism of energy over the topography are expounded. When the lagoon is non-existent, all wave rays converge at the x-axis, which results in an abrupt amplification of the wave amplitude around the convergence point. When a lagoon is mounted on the top of the atoll, the rays are scattered due to the refraction of the lagoon, and only some rays converge at the symmetrical axis and the ridges on both sides,which results in the amplification of wave amplitudes in these areas.

Immunosensor Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance for Antigen Recognition

A novel immunosensor based on surface plasmon resonance（SPR） has been developed for the recognition of antigen. The sensor was designed on the basis of the fixed angle of incidence and measuring the reflected intensities in a wavelength range of 430--750 nm in real-time. An ultra-bright white light-emitting diode（LED） was used as the light source. Molecular self-assembling in solution was used to form the sensing membrane on gold substrate. It has been seen that the sensitivity of the SPR sensor with 3-mercaptopropionic acid（MPA）/protein A（SPA） sensing membrane is considerably higher than that with MPA or SPA modified sensing membrane. The kinetic processes on the sensing membrane were studied. The human B factor（Bf）, an activator of complement 3（C3）, was recognized among the other antigens. This sensor can also be used for other antigen/antibody or adaptor/receptor recognition. Under optimized experimental conditions, the sensor has good selectivity, repeatability, and reversibility.

To solve the coupled vibration of a gravity dam-reservoir systemwith variable water depth by using a hybrid element method, the fluidregion with variable water depth needs to be dis- cetized by FEmeshes. However, such a method asks for a great computational costowing to the ex- cessive unknowns, especially when the fluid regionwith variable water depth is relatively large. To overcome theshortcoming, a refined boundary element method is proposed to analyzethe fluid field, in which only the discretization for the boundary ofthe variable depth region is required. But as a basis of thisapproach, it is necessary to construct a new Green's functioncorresponding to an infinite strip region.
