To the Editor:Irreversible electroporation(IRE)is a promising ablative technique for hepatobiliary *** has unique advantages,including no detrimental heat sink effect[1]and no injury of the surrounding tissues[2].For lesions in complex areas,bile duct[3],and large blood vessels[4],IRE has been developed as an alternative to thermal ablation such as radiofrequency and *** IRE tumor ablative technique combines cell biology and pulsed high-voltage *** high-voltage,high-frequency and transient pulses can create irreversible electroporation in the phospholipid bilayer of the cell membrane and nuclear envelope,resulting in cell *** with radiofrequency ablation and microwave ablation[5],IRE does not cause damage to important vessels and *** has some unique shortcomings in delivering high currents,which has limited its clinical applications in the *** animal and clinical studies,side effects including muscle contraction,procedural hypertension,and arrhythmia are frequently reported[6].However,during the ablation process,if the pulse is synchronized with the heart rhythm,the risk of arrhythmia is *** muscle relaxant eliminates muscle ***,arrhythmia[7],hypertension[8],and myocardial infarction[9]are potential risks requiring proper *** adverse events are mostly moderate and self-limiting,but they may have serious consequences for patients with coronary artery *** to the potential risks,patients with a history of cardiovascular disease are not recommended for IRE treatment.

Potential role of tanycyte-derived neurogenesis in Alzheimer's disease

Tanycytes, specialized ependymal cells located in the hypothalamus, play a crucial role in the generation of new neurons that contribute to the neural circuits responsible for regulating the systemic energy balance. The precise coordination of the gene networks controlling neurogenesis in naive and mature tanycytes is essential for maintaining homeostasis in adulthood. However, our understanding of the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways that govern the proliferation and differentiation of tanycytes into neurons remains limited. This article aims to review the recent advancements in research into the mechanisms and functions of tanycyte-derived neurogenesis. Studies employing lineage-tracing techniques have revealed that the neurogenesis specifically originating from tanycytes in the hypothalamus has a compensatory role in neuronal loss and helps maintain energy homeostasis during metabolic diseases. Intriguingly,metabolic disorders are considered early biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore,the neurogenic potential of tanycytes and the state of newborn neurons derived from tanycytes heavily depend on the maintenance of mild microenvironments, which may be disrupted in Alzheimer's disease due to the impaired blood–brain barrier ***, the specific alterations and regulatory mechanisms governing tanycyte-derived neurogenesis in Alzheimer's disease remain unclear. Accumulating evidence suggests that tanycyte-derived neurogenesis might be impaired in Alzheimer's disease, exacerbating neurodegeneration. Confirming this hypothesis, however, poses a challenge because of the lack of long-term tracing and nucleus-specific analyses of newborn neurons in the hypothalamus of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Further research into the molecular mechanisms underlying tanycyte-derived neurogenesis holds promise for identifying small molecules capable of restoring tanycyte proliferation in neurodegenerative diseases. Personal care products(PCPs)are a class of emerging pollutants that have attracted public concern owing to their harmful effects on humans and the *** data is valuable for insight the levels of PCPs in the human body and can be crucial for identifying potential health *** gain a better understanding of timely exposure profiles and health risk of reproductive-age population to PCPs,we determined six parabens,six benzophenone-type ultraviolet filters,and three disinfectants in 256 urine samples collected from young adults aged 18-44 years in Beijing,*** urinary levels of benzophenone-3(BP-3)and 4-hydroxybenzophenone(4-OHBP)were significantly higher in summer compared to winter,suggesting these compounds have different seasonal usage ***,the total concentration of 15 PCPs in female was 430 ng/mL,approximately two times higher than that in male.P-chloro-m-xylenol(PCMX),as a new type of antibacterial agent,has the greatest level among all target analytes,indicating the increasingly use of this antibacterial alternative *** potential influencing factors that lead to the elevated exposure level of PCPs were *** 19%of the target population had a high hazard index value(greater than 1)which was attributed to exposure to propyl paraben(PrP),benzophenone-1(BP-1),BP-3 and PCMX,indicating that PCPs may pose a relatively high exposure risk at environmental levels that should be a cause for concern.

Twist monomials of binary delta-matroids

Recently, we introduced the twist polynomials of delta-matroids and gave a characterization of even normal binary delta-matroids whose twist polynomials have only one term and posed a problem:what would happen for odd binary delta-matroids? In this paper, we show that a normal binary deltamatroid whose twist polynomials have only one term if and only if each connected component of the intersection graph of the delta-matroid is either a complete graph of odd order or a single vertex with a loop.

Effect of Low-density Polyethylene Microplastics on Soybean-soil-microbial System

The widespread use of plastics has led to the prevalence of microplastics in the soil environment，which，as an emerging pollutant，affects plant growth，soil physicochemical properties，and microbial community structure. The effects of different contents of low-density polyethylene microplastics（LDPE-MPs）on soybean growth，soil physicochemical properties，soil enzyme activities，and microbial activities were investigated through pot culture experiments to explore the toxic effects of microplastics on soybean-soil-microbial systems. The results showed that compared with that in the control，microplastics inhibited soybean emergence（14.1%-25.0%），whereas plant height，biomass，and pod weight were inhibited by low concentration and promoted by high concentration，and SPAD of soybean was significantly reduced by high concentrations of microplastics stress. Microplastics affected the quality of soybeans，with s-sugars，s-proteins，and cellulose increased by 117.7%-258.8%，3.7%-61.6%，and 47.8%-83.4%，respectively，compared with those in the control. Microplastic addition also affected soybean nutrient uptake，as evidenced by the promotion of N（95.1%-144.4%）and P（4.1%-20.4%）uptake in the aboveground portion of soybeans and N（11.4%-19.4%）and P（8.5%-42.6%）uptake in the below-ground portion of soybeans，and inhibited K（2.2%-15.3%）uptake in the aboveground portion of the plant and K（3.9%-9.4%）uptake in the below-ground portion of the plan，respectively. The addition of microplastics had little effect on soil pH;however，it significantly increased CEC（65.1%-74.7%）and SOM（22.6%）. With the increase in the addition content，the content of NO3−-N，AP，AK，and UE activities were significantly reduced;the content of NO3−-N，AP，and AK was reduced by 57.7%，22.0%，and 18.8% compared with that in the control at 3% addition，respectively;and UE activity was inhibited by 13.98%. Auxiliary-field Monte Carlo method for frustrated spin systems

We extend a semiclassical numerical method, bosonic auxiliary-field Monte Carlo, to quantum spin systems. This method breaks the lattice into clusters, solves each cluster precisely and couples them with classical auxiliary fields through classical Monte Carlo simulation. We test the method with antiferromagnetic spin models in one-dimensional chains, square lattices and triangular lattices, and obtain reasonable results at finite temperatures. This algorithm builds a bridge between classical Monte Carlo method and quantum methods. The algorithm can be improved with either progress in classical Monte Carlo sampling or the development of quantum solvers, and can also be further applied to systems with different lattices or interactions.

Taurine: A Comprehensive Review of Its Origin， Pharmacological Properties， Potential Health Benefits， Therapeutic Applications， and Safety Profile

Taurine， a multifunctional sulfur-containing amino acid and conditionally essential nutrient for humans， plays a key role in various biological processes and has attracted significant attention for its therapeutic potential. Originally isolated from ox bile， taurine has broad applications， but a comprehensive understanding of its pharmacological properties， health benefits， and safety profile remains incomplete. In this review， we critically evaluate the existing evidence on taurine’s effects based on an extensive literature search of multiple databases， including PubMed， Web of Science， Scopus， ScienceDirect， Google Scholar， CNKI， and Baidu Scholar， up to May 2024. Taurine demonstrates a range of beneficial effects， including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities， modulation of lipid metabolism， neuroprotection， and cardiovascular protection. It has shown substantial impacts on anti-tumor activity， immune system modulation， blood pressure and lipid regulation， glycemic control， hepatobiliary protection， and potential anti-aging effects. However， the precise regulatory pathways underlying these benefits are not yet fully understood. Epidemiological studies indicate a correlation between high taurine dosage and a reduced risk of diseases. However， direct evidence from interventional studies remains insufficient， and existing clinical trials require further in-depth investigation. Concerns about improper use and potential health risks also highlight the need for thorough safety assessments. To address these gaps， we recommend conducting well-designed， long-term randomized controlled trials to establish effective doses for disease prevention and assess taurine’s potential as a primary or adjunct therapy. This review aims to guide future research and support public health efforts， ultimately improving health outcomes.

MACLSTM: A Weather Attributes Enabled Recurrent Approach to Appliance-Level Energy Consumption Forecasting

Studies to enhance the management of electrical energy have gained considerable momentum in recent years. The question of how much energy will be needed in households is a pressing issue as it allows the management plan of the available resources at the power grids and consumer levels. A non-intrusive inference process can be adopted to predict the amount of energy required by appliances. In this study, an inference process of appliance consumption based on temporal and environmental factors used as a soft sensor is proposed. First, a study of the correlation between the electrical and environmental variables is presented. Then, a resampling process is applied to the initial data set to generate three other subsets of data. All the subsets were evaluated to deduce the adequate granularity for the prediction of the energy demand. Then, a cloud-assisted deep neural network model is designed to forecast short-term energy consumption in a residential area while preserving user privacy. The solution is applied to the consumption data of four appliances elected from a set of real household power data. The experiment results show that the proposed framework is effective for estimating consumption with convincing accuracy.
