Aim: To evaluate the effect of a protein synthesis inhibitor cycloheximide on arresting activity in spermato-genesis and sperm count in male rats. Methods: The study used seminiferous tubule (ST) segments from adult rats cultured in vitro with or without cycloheximide to condition culture media, which have been concentrated, size fractioned (30-50 kDa) and administered 7 days to adult rats by intraperitoneal injections. The effects on testicular and epididymal weights, spermatogenesis and epididymal sperm count were determined. Results: The fraction (30-50 kDa), named arresting, obtained from the culture without cycloheximide decreased testicular and epididymal weights (Plar to control. Conclusion: The difference in the effect may be the result of the presence or absence of arresting, a protein secreted by the tubules.

Color polymorphisms have become a major topic in evolutionary biology and substantial efforts have been devoted to the understanding of the mechanisms responsible for originating such colorful ***-morph continuous variation,on the other hand,has been neglected in most of the ***,we combine spectrophotometric/visual modeling and genetic data to study the mechanisms promoting continuous variation within categorical color morphs of Podarcis *** results suggest that intra-morph variability in the pterin-based orange morph is greater compared to white and yellow *** also show that continuous variation within the orange morph is partially discriminable by *** results indicate that allelic variants at the BCO2 locus(responsible for deposition of yellow carotenoids)contribute to generate continuous variation in orange ***,other intrinsic and/or extrinsic mechanisms,such as body size,might be involved,opening a new avenue for future research on the drivers of continuous variation within-morphs.

The intracortical microstimulation(ICMS) from 40 to 100 μA is useful to elicit tactile sensations,which could be employed in neuroprostheses to control the robotic arms' ***,this electrical current applied for prolonged periods of time could damage the neuronal ***,there is a necessity to create new strategies for the practical use of ICMS in a safe intensity range for potential clinical applications in tetraplegic *** we describe crucial studies supporting the use of electrical and optical noise to guarantee a safe ICMS delivered through brain-machine interface technologies.

BACKGROUND The inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor(IMT)is a rare mesenquimal tumor of doubtful biological ***’s characterised for affecting mainly children and young adults,although it can appear at any age,being the lungs the primary affected organ(in children it represents 20%of all primary pulmonary tumors).CASE SUMMARY We present the case of a 45 year old woman,with a computed tomography(CT)finding of injury on the anterior surface of the fundus/gastric body and a solid perigastric injury of 12 mm in the *** case is presented in the tumor committee deciding to perform a laparoscopic wedge *** histological diagnosis was a *** diagnosis is based on imaging tests like the abdominal CT,abdominal ecography and the ecoendoscopy but to confirm the diagnosis a pathological study is *** Due to the unpredictable nature of this tumor,surgical resection is the best therapeutic option.

The main purpose of this paper is to implement a system capable of detecting faults in railway point mechanisms. This is achieved by developing an algorithm that takes advantage of three empirical criteria simultaneously capable of detecting faults from records of measurements of force against time. The system is dynamic in several respects： the base reference data is computed using all the curves free from faults as they are encountered in the experimental data; the algorithm that uses the three criteria simultaneously may be applied in on-line situations as each new data point becomes available; and recursive algorithms are applied to filter noise from the raw data in an automatic way. Encouraging results are found in practice when the system is applied to a number of experiments carried out by an industrial sponsor.

The exponential growth of mobile applications and services during the last years has challenged the existing network ***,the arrival of multiple management solutions to cope with this explosion along the end-to-end network chain has increased the complexity in the coordinated orchestration of different segments composing the whole *** Zero-touch Network and Service Management(ZSM)concept has recently emerged to automatically orchestrate and manage network resources while assuring the Quality of Experience(QoE)demanded by *** Learning(ML)is one of the key enabling technologies that many ZSM frameworks are adopting to bring intelligent decision making to the network management *** paper presents a comprehensive survey of the state-of-the-art application of ML-based techniques to improve ZSM *** this end,the main related standardization activities and the aligned international projects and research efforts are deeply *** this dissection,the skyrocketing growth of the ZSM paradigm can be ***,different standardization bodies have already designed reference architectures to set the foundations of novel automatic network management functions and resource *** with these advances,diverse ML techniques are being currently exploited to build further ZSM developments in different aspects,including multi-tenancy management,traffic monitoring,and architecture coordination,among ***,different challenges,such as the complexity,scalability,and security of ML mechanisms,are also identified,and future research guidelines are provided to accomplish a firm development of the ZSM ecosystem.

BACKGROUND:Hypertriglyceridemia is an unusual cause of acute pancreatitis and sometimes considered to be an *** study aimed to investigate the clinical and analytical features and the APOE genotypes in patients with acute pancreatitis and severe ***:We undertook a one-year,prospective study of patients with acute pancreatitis whose first laboratory analysis on admission to the emergency department included measurement of serum *** APOE genotype was determined and the patients answered an established questionnaire within the first 24 hours concerning their alcohol consumption,the presence of co-morbidities and any medications being *** patients’ progression,etiological diagnosis,hospital stay and clinical and radiological severity were all ***:Hypertriglyceridemia was responsible for 7 of 133 cases of pancreatitis (5%);the remaining cases were of biliary (53%),idiopathic (26%),alcoholic (11%) or other (5%) *** with these remaining cases,the patients with hypertriglyceridemia were significantly younger,had more relapses,and more often had diabetes *** usually consumed alcohol or consumed it excessively on the days before ***,the ε4 allele of the APOE gene was more common in this group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:One of 20 episodes of acute pancreatitis is caused by hypertriglyceridemia and it is linked to genetic (ε4 allele) and comorbid factors such as diabetes and,especially,alcohol consumption.

In triatomines,blood-feeding triggers many physiological processes including post embryonic development and *** feeding habits,such as hematophagy,can shape gene functions to meet the challenges of each type of *** gut of blood-sucking insects faces particular challenges after feeding due to the quantity and the quality of the food ingested.A comparison of transcriptomic and proteomic data indicates that post transcriptional regulation of gene expression is crucial in the triatomine *** was proposed that eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit m(eIF3m)and eIF3e define 2 different eIF3 complexes with a distinct affinity for the different mRNAs,thus selecting the set of mRNAs to be translated and constituting a post transcriptional mode of regulation of gene *** the eIF3m is mainly expressed in the gut,we evaluated its relevance in Rhodnius prolixus physiology through RNA interference-mediated gene *** knockdown of eIF3m reduced the digestion rate,affecting the processes triggered by a blood *** silencing inhibited molting and caused premature death in nymphs while impaired ovary development,oviposition and increased resistance to starvation in adult *** survival of males after feeding(resistance to starvation)was not affected by eIF3m *** information regarding the eIF3m function in insects is scarce and the phenotypes observed in *** upon eIF3m silencing are different and more severe than those previously described in Drosophila melanogaster,indicating a pleiotropic role of this gene in triatomines.
