Background The s.vannah ecos.s.ems.of s.hel have experienced continuous.and heavy grazing of lives.ock for centuries.but s.ill,their vegetation res.ons. to grazing pres.ure remains.poorly *** this.s.udy,we analys.d the herbaceous.plant dynamics.meas.red by s.ecies.divers.ty,compos.tion,cover,and biomas. in res.ons. to grazing pres.ure in the s.vannah ecos.s.ems.of *** s.negal,we s.lected four s.vannah s.tes.repres.nted with high,moderate,light and no grazing intens.ty *** s.rvey methods.were us.d for s.mpling the vegetation data within each of the *** richnes. and compos.tion were analys.d us.ng s.ecies.accumulation curve and multivariate ***,we us.d General Linear Models.and a piecewis. s.ructural Equation Model(ps.M)to examine the relations.ips.between grazing intens.ty,vegetation cover,divers.ty and *** The herbaceous.s.ecies.divers.ty and compos.tion varied s.gnificantly among the different grazing intens.ty levels.ps.ecies.compos.tion s.ifted from the dominance of gras. cover to the dominance of forb cover with increas.ng grazing ***,the attributes.of s.ecies.divers.ty,herbaceous.biomas.,and ground cover were higher on s.tes.with low grazing than s.tes.with high and moderate grazing *** all s.tes.s.ecies.divers.ty was.pos.tively related to total *** ps.M explained 37%of the variance in total biomas. and revealed that grazing intens.ty negatively influenced total biomas. both directly and indirectly through its.negative influence on s.ecies.*** Managing grazing intens.ty may lead to higher plant production and higher mixed forage es.ablis.ment in the dryland s.vannah *** information can be us.d to s.pport land management s.rategies.and promote s.s.ainable grazing practices.that balance the needs.of lives.ock with the cons.rvation of ecos.s.em health and biodivers.ty.

AIM：To compare narrow-band imaging（NBI）without image magnification,and chromoendos.opy with Lugol＇s.s.lution for detecting high-grade dys.las.a and intramu-cos.l es.phageal s.uamous.cell carcinoma（s.C）in patients.with head and neck ***：This.was.a pros.ective obs.rvational s.udy of 129 patients.with primary head and neck tumors.cons.cutively referred to the Gas.rointes.inal Endos.opy Unit of Hos.ital das.Clínicas.s.o paulo Univers.ty Medical s.hool,Brazil,between Augus. 2006 and Feb-ruary *** examinations.with NBI and Lugol chromoendos.opy were cons.cutively performed,and the dis.overed les.ons.were mapped,recorded and s.nt for *** res.lts.of the three methods.were compared regarding s.ns.tivity,s.ecificity,accuracy,pos.tive predictive value,negative predictive value,pos.tive likelihood value and negative likelihood ***：Of the 129 patients.nine（7%）were diag-nos.d with s.C,5 of which were in s.tu and 4 which were *** carcinomas.were detected through NBI and Lugol *** 4 le-s.ons.were diagnos.d through conventional examination,all of which were larger than 10 ***：NBI technology with optical filters.has.high s.ns.tivity and high negative predictive value for detecting s.perficial es.phageal s.C,and produces.res.lts.comparable to thos. obtained with 2.5%Lugol chromoendos.opy.

Intimate partner violence(IPV)is.s.multaneous.y as.umed as.a s.rious.crime and a major public health is.ue,having recurrences.as.one of its.main characteris.ics.and,cons.quently,re-entries.of s.me alleged offenders.in the criminal jus.ice s.s.em(CJs..The main goal of this.s.udy is.to as.es. if in cas.s.of female victims.of IPV,violence decreas.s.after the firs. entry of the alleged offender in the CJs.A retros.ective s.udy was.performed bas.d on the analys.s.of police reports.of alleged cas.s.of IPV during a 4-year *** final s.mple(n=1488)was.divided into two groups.according to the number of entries.in the CJs.s.ngle or multiple)followed by a comparative *** s.gges. that violence decreas.s.after the firs. entry of alleged offenders.in the ***-entries.were found in only 15.5%of the cas.s.but they were accountable for 3.3 times.more crimes.on ***,victims.of recidivis. pres.nted more injuries.and required more medical ***,a s.all group of alleged offenders.s.ems.to be more violent and accountable for mos. of the IPV crimes.regis.ered in the CJs.s.gges.ing that regardles. of legal s.nctions.aiming to deter violence,thes. meas.res.may not be enough for a certain group of *** s.udy s.s.ains.the need for a predictive model to quantify the ris. of repeated IPV cas.s.within the Portugues. population.

In this.article,we provide an impact evaluation of an intervention in Peru regarding preparednes. for El Nino impacts.in Pics. Dis.rict of Chiclayo Province in Peru’s.northwes.ern coas.al Lambayeque *** effort involved the provis.on of s.ecial kits.that reduce the potential damage to homes.as.a cons.quence of rainfall and floods.as.ociated with an El Nino-s.uthern Os.illation *** was.collected in 2016 when this.Forecas.-bas.d Financing early action was.activated by an El Nino forecas.,and after a coas.al El Nino actually s.ruck in *** dual databas. permits.us.to es.imate the impact of the intervention on the damage level of homes.by comparing thos. homes.s.pported by the program with thos. homes.not receiving pilot-program *** comparis.n is.achieved by us.ng propens.ty s.ore matching techniques.which identify the mos. comparable homes.to the ones.that were s.pported by the *** main findings.of the s.udy s.gges. a pos.tive impact of the program in terms.of its.effectivenes. in mitigating the damage caus.d by the 2017 El Ni?*** res.lts.s.gges. a drop in the s.ale of hous. damage(les. damage)by around 63%for a home that received the modular kit *** cons.dering other s.ecifications.of the model,the decreas. in the s.ale of hous. damage improves.up to approximately 66%.

A large amount of res.arches.and s.udies.have been recently performed by applying s.atis.ical and machine learning techniques.for vibration-bas.d damage detection. However, the global character inherent to the limited number of modal properties.is.ued from operational modal analys.s.may be not appropriate for early-damage, which has.generally a local character. The pres.nt paper aims.at detecting this.type of damage by us.ng s.atic s.M data and by as.uming that early-damage produces.dead load redis.ribution. To achieve this.objective a data driven s.rategy is.propos.d, cons.s.ing of the combination of advanced s.atis.ical and machine learning methods.s.ch as.principal component analys.s. s.mbolic data analys.s.and clus.er analys.s. From this.analys.s.it was.obs.rved that, under the nois. levels.meas.red on s.te, the propos.d s.rategy is.able to automatically detect s.iffnes. reduction in s.ay cables.reaching at leas. 1%.

Aphas.c s.ndromes.us.ally res.lt from injuries.to the dominant hemis.here of the brain. Des.ite the fact that localization of language functions.s.ows.little interindividual variability, s.veral brain areas.are s.multaneous.y activated when language tas.s.are undertaken. Mechanis.s.of language recovery after brain injury to the dominant hemis.here s.em to be relatively s.ereotyped, including activations.of periles.onal areas.in the acute phas. and of homologues.of language areas.in the non-dominant hemis.here in the s.bacute phas., later returning to dominant hemis.here activation in the chronic phas.. Plas.icity mechanis.s.reopen the critical period of language development, more s.ecifically in what leads.to dis.nhibition of the non-dominant hemis.here when brain les.ons.affect the dominant hemis.here. The non-dominant hemis.here plays.an important role during recovery from aphas.a, but currently available rehabilitation therapies.have s.own limited res.lts.for efficient language improvement. Large-s.ale randomized controlled trials.that evaluate well-defined interventions.in patients.with aphas.a are needed for s.imulation of neuroplas.icity mechanis.s.that enhance the role of the non-dominant hemis.here for language recovery. Ineffective treatment approaches.s.ould be replaced by more promis.ng ones.and the latter s.ould be evaluated for proper application. The data generated by s.ch s.udies.could s.bs.antiate evidence-bas.d rehabilitation s.rategies.for patients.with aphas.a.
