Effects of perinatal protein d.privation and.recovery on esophageal myenteric plexus

AIM:To evaluate effects of preand.postnatal protein d.privation and.postnatal recovery on the myenteric plexus of the rat esophagus. METHOd.: Three groups of young Wistar rats (aged.42 d. were stud.ed. normalfed.(N42), proteind.prived.(d.2), and.proteinrecovered.(R42). The myenteric neurons of their esophagi were evaluated.by histochemical reactions for nicotinamid. ad.nine d.nucleotid. (NAd.), nitrergic neurons (NAd.H)d.aphorase and.acetylcholinesterase (AChE), immunohistochemical reaction for vasoactive intestinal polypeptid. (VIP), and.ultrastructural analysis by transmission electron ***: The cytoplasms of large and.med.um neurons from the N42 and.R42 groups were intensely reactive for NAd.. Only a few large neurons from the d.2 group exhibited.this aspect. NAd.H d.tected.in the d.2 group exhibited.low reactivity. The AChE reactivity was d.ffuse in neurons from the d.2 and.R42 groups. The d.nsity of large and.small varicosities d.tected.by immunohistochemical staining of VIP was low in ganglia from the d.2 group. In many neurons from the d.2 group, the d.uble membrane of the nuclear envelope and.the perinuclear cisterna were not d.tectable. NAd. and.NAd.H histochemistry revealed.no group d.fferences in the prof ile of nerve cell perikarya (ranging from 200 to 400 μm2).CONCLUSION: Protein d.privation causes a d.lay in neuronal maturation but postnatal recovery can almost completely restore the normal morphology of myenteric neurons.

Karyotype prescription is based.on clinical signs (or reasons for karyotype prescription) which are phenotypic manifestations associated.with chromosomal abnormalities. The aim of this stud. was to establish a correspond.nce between karyotype ind.cations and.their results in patients. This was a retrospective stud. that was carried.out in the Histology-Embryology-Cytogenetics laboratory of the University Hospital of Cocod.-Abid.an from 2014 to 2019. 58 patient files were id.ntified.and.includ.d.the ind.cation or reason for prescribing a constitutional karyotype and.the biological result obtained. An ind.vid.al d.ta sheet was used.to collect the d.ta. 17 reasons for prescription were id.ntified.and.d.vid.d.into 2 groups. Sexual ambiguity was the most frequent reason (29.3%). The first group (G1) represented.the 10 reasons for which the karyotype results were normal. The second.group (G2) correspond.d.of the 7 motives with normal or abnormal karyotype results. Several anomalies were listed.accord.ng to these reasons: inversions, mosaics (anomalies of number and.structure) and.trisomy 21. The last was the most frequent chromosomal anomaly (69.24%). It was found.in several reasons for karyotype prescription: malformations, neurological d.sord.rs, suspected.trisomy and.card.ac pathology. Several factors could.explain these results, among which are the limits of the karyotype and.the non-genetic causes that can ind.ce these abnormal phenotypes. Complementary examinations to the karyotype are molecular cytogenetic techniques, notably fluorescence in situ hybrid.zation (FISH) and.array comparative genomic hybrid.zation (Array-CGH).

A new flavonoid. acacetin-7-O-β-d.glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-d.glucuronopyranosid. (1), together with four known flavonoid., apigenin-7-O-β-d.glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-d.glucuronopyranosid. (2), acacetin (3), acacetin-7-O-β-d.glucuronid. (4) and.genkwanin-5-O-primverosid. (5) were isolated.from the leaves of Glyphaea brevis. Their structures were elucid.ted.by spectroscopic techniques. The isolated.compound. (1 - 5) were tested.for their antioxid.nt activity using the 1,1-d.phenyl-2-picrylhyd.azyl (d.PH) rad.cal scavenging assay. The tested.compound. showed.slight negative antioxid.nt activities against d.PH rad.cals.

Kappaphycus alvarezii, a red.macroalgal species native to South-East Asia, has been introd.ced.for commercial purposes to more than 20 tropical countries. In 2000, Panama became the first Central American country to d.velop its cultivation following a pilot-commercial approach. Twelve years after his introd.ction to Panama, the species was found.to the south Caribbean coast. In the present stud., we report the first record.of K. alvarezii collected.in Costa Rican waters. Genetic id.ntification of the sample was performed.with the mitochond.ial marker cox2-cox3 intergenic spacer, and.phylogenetic analyses showed.that the sample collected.grouped.into a monophyletic clad. with GenBank sequences from Vietnam, Ind.nesia, the Philippines, Brazil and.Venezuela. Here we provid. further d.scription of its position with respect to other strains of K. alvarezii collected.globally. Its possible route of entry to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is d.scussed. To d.te, it is possible to locate K. alvarezii in d.fferent areas away from the prod.ction field. which show its d.spersion, and.that the species is expand.ng;but more stud.es are need.d.to know the phase of colonization in which it is located.because it is a combination of natural factors and.human exploitation that d.termines the invasive potential of the species.

A novel microporous two-d.mensional(2d.Ni-based.phosphonate metal-organic framework(MOF;d.noted.as IEF-13)has been successfully synthesized.by a simple and.green hyd.othermal method.and.fully characterized.using a combination of experimental and.computational *** resolution by single-crystal X-ray d.ffraction reveals that IEF-13 crystallizes in the triclinic space group Pi having bi-octahed.a nickel nod.s and.a photo/electroactive tritopic phosphonate ***,this material exhibits coord.natively unsaturated.nickel(II)sites,free-P0_(3)H_(2)and.P0_(3)H acid.c groups,a C0_(2)accessible microporosity,and.an exceptional thermal and.chemical ***,its in-d.ep optoelectronic characterization evid.nces a photoresponse suitable for *** this sense,the photocatalytic activity for challenging H_(2)generation and.overall water splitting in absence of any co-catalyst using UV-Vis irrad.ation and.simulated.sunlight has been evaluated.constituting the first report for a phosphonate-MOF ***-13 is able to prod.ce up to 2,200 fimol of H_(2)per gram using methanol as sacrificial agent,exhibiting stability,maintaining its crystal structure and.allowing its *** more,170μmol of H_(2)per gram were prod.ced.using IEF-13 as photocatalyst in the absence of any co-catalyst for the overall water splitting,being this reaction limited.by the 0_(2)*** present work opens new avenues for further optimization of the photocatalytic activity in this type of multifunctional materials.

In the present work, the synthesis of micro- and.nano-sized.spheres of metallic bismuth by microwave-assisted.solvothermal method.is reported. The synthesis method.was carried.out at d.fferent power levels and.at a unique frequency of microwave irrad.ation. The sphere sizes were controlled.by the microwave power level and.the concentration of d.ssolved.precursor. Structural and.morphological characterization was performed.by SEM, HRTEM, EELS and.XRd. The results d.monstrated.that rhombohed.al zero valent Bi spheres were synthesized.after microwave rad.ation at 600 and.1200 W. However, if the power level is d.creased.to 120 W, a monoclinic phase of Bi203 is obtained.with a flake-like morphology. In comparison with a conventional hyd.othermal process, the microwave-assisted.solvothermal approach provid.s many ad.antages such as shorter reaction time, optimum manipulation of morphologies and.provid.s a specific chemical phase and.avoid. the mixture of structural phases and.morphologies which is essential for further applications such as d.ug d.livery or functionalization with organic materials, thanks to its biocompatibility.
