In recent years,the inclusion of flexible AC transmission systems(FACTS)-based compensating devices such as a thyristor-controlled series capacitor(TCSC)and a unified power flow controller(UPFC)has been increased in high-voltage power transmission systems due to numerous technical and economical ***,the operation of such FACTS devices introduces harmonics and non-linearity in power system and causes fast changes in line *** a result,the most widely used fixed impedance setting based distance relaying scheme finds limitation in protecting such compensated *** research has been carried out in recent years to develop new algorithms and methods to address the *** paper presents a comprehensive review of recent developments in the protection of TCSC/UPFC compensated high-voltage transmission *** relative merits and demerits of each of the available methods are also presented for *** to detail review,the impact of TCSC/UPFC on distance protection is evaluated by using data generated through EMTDC/PSCAD on a 400 kV two-bus test power *** study can be useful to both academic researchers and practicing engineers to gain insight on the protection of FACTS compensated transmission lines and for further development of newer algorithms.

BACKGROUND Addressing oculoplastic conditions in the preoperative period ensures both the safety and functional success of any ophthalmic *** oculoplastic conditions,like nasolacrimal duct obstruction,have been extensively studied,whereas others,like eyelid malposition and thyroid eye disease,have received minimal or no *** To investigate the current practice patterns among ophthalmologists while treating concomitant oculoplastic conditions before any subspecialty ophthalmic *** A cross-sectional survey was disseminated among ophthalmologists all over *** survey included questions related to pre-operative evaluation,anaesthetic and surgical techniques preferred,post-operative care,the use of adjunctive therapies,and patient follow-up *** A total of 180 ophthalmologists responded to the *** practitioners(89%)felt that the ROPLAS test was sufficient during pre-operative evaluation before any subspecialty surgery was *** most common surgical techniques employed were lacrimal drainage procedures(Dacryocystorhinostomy)(63.3%),eyelid malposition repair(36.9%),and ptosis repair(58.7%).Post-operatively,47.7%of respondents emphasized that at least a 4-week gap should be maintained after lacrimal drainage procedures and eyelid ***-seven percent of ophthalmologists felt that topical anaesthetic procedures should be preferred while performing ocular surgeries in thyroid eye disease *** Approximately 50%of ophthalmologists handle prevalent oculoplastic issues themselves,seeking the expertise of an oculoplastic surgeon under particular *** ophthalmologists still favor using ROPLAS as a preliminary screening method before proceeding with cataract *** conditions and thyroid eye disease are not as commonly addressed before subspecialty procedures compared to issues like nasolacrimal duct obstruction and periocular infections.

Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) are a one-dimensional semiconductor, which shows promising applications indistinct areas such as photocatalysis, lithium-ion batteries, gas sensors, medical diagnostics, drug delivery,and solar cell. From an implementation point of view, SiNWs are fabricated using either a topdownor bottom-up approach, and SiNWs are both optically and electronically active. SiNWs enhancesthe efficiency of the solar cell due to better electronic, optical, and physical properties that can becontrolled by tuning the physical dimensions of SiNWs. The SiNWs shows an inherent capability to beutilized in radial or coaxial p-n junction solar cells, to stipulate orthogonal photon absorption, antireflection,and enhanced carrier collection. This paper reviews property-control of SiNWs, theirvarious types of incorporation in a solar cell, and the reasons behind enhanced efficiency.

Experimental results on the thermal characteristics of air-water spray impingement cooling of hot metallic surface are presented and discussed in this *** controlling input parameters investigated were the combined air and water pressures,plate thickness,water flow rate,nozzle height from the target surface and initial temperature of the hot *** effects of these input parameters on the important thermal characteristics such as heat transfer rate,heat transfer coefficient and wetting front movement were measured and *** flat plate samples of mild steel with dimension 120 mm in length,120 mm breadth and thickness of 4 mm,6 mm,and 8mm respectively were *** air assisted water spray was found to be an effective cooling media and method to achieve very high heat transfer rate from the *** heat transfer rate and heat transfer coefficients were obtained for the lesser i.e,4 mm thick *** in the nozzle height reduced the heat transfer efficiency of spray *** an inlet water pressure of 4 bar and air pressure of 3 bar,maximum cooling rates670℃/s and average cooling rate of 305.23℃/s were achieved for a temperature of 850℃ of the steel plate.

Membrane damage is one of the important consequence of chromium, an environmental toxicant, to produce cytotoxicity. α-tocopherol, a membrane protectant can be used to reduce the chromium-induced membrane damage. In the present study, the impact of chromium in presence and absence of α-tocopherol was studied on plasma membrane of liver and kidney in male Wistar rats (80—100 g body weight). Significant increase in membrane cholesterol level as well as significant decrease in membrane phospholipid level in chromium exposed ( 0.8 mg /100 g body weight/d, i.p., for 4 weeks) animals suggest structural alteration of both liver and kidney plasma memebrane. The alkaline phosphatase, total ATPase and Na +-K +-ATPase activities of plasma membrane were significantly decreased in both liver and kidney after chromium treatment. However, α-tocopherol (30 mg/100 g diet) supplementation can restrict the changes in these membrane-bound enzyme activities. Thus, the usefulness of dietary supplementation of α-tocopherol to restrain the chromium-induced membrane damage is suggested.

Importance of chromium as environmental toxicant is largely due to impact on the body to produce cellular toxicity. The impact of chromium and their supplementation with ascorbic acid was studied on plasma membrane of liver and kidney in male Wistar rats (80-100g body weight). It has been observed that the intoxication with chromium (i.p.) at the dose of 0.8 mg/100g body weight per day for a period of 28 days causes significant increase in the level of cholesterol and decrease in the level of phospholipid of both liver and kidney. The alkaline phosphatase, total ATPase and Na\++\|K\++\|ATPase activities were significantly decreased in both liver and kidney after chromium treatment, except total ATPase activity of kidney. It is suggested that chromium exposure at the present dose and duration induce for the alterations of structure and function of both liver and kidney plasma membrane. Ascorbic acid (i.p. at the dose of 0.5 mg/100g body weight per day for period of 28 days) supplementation can reduce these structural changes in the plasma membrane of liver and kidney. But the functional changes can not be completely replenished by the ascorbic acid supplementation in response to chromium exposure. So it is also suggested that ascorbic acid (nutritional antioxidant) is useful free radical scavenger to restrain the chromium induced membrane damage.

Application of Statistical Tools for Data Analysis and Interpretation in Rice Plant Pathology

There has been a significant advancement in the application of statistical tools in plant pathology during the past four decades. These tools include multivariate analysis of disease dynamics involving principal component analysis, cluster analysis, factor analysis, pattern analysis, discriminant analysis, multivariate analysis of variance, correspondence analysis, canonical correlation analysis, redundancy analysis, genetic diversity analysis, and stability analysis, which involve in joint regression, additive main effects and multiplicative interactions, and genotype-by-environment interaction biplot analysis. The advanced statistical tools, such as non-parametric analysis of disease association, meta-analysis, Bayesian analysis, and decision theory, take an important place in analysis of disease dynamics. Disease forecasting methods by simulation models for plant diseases have a great potentiality in practical disease control strategies. Common mathematical tools such as monomolecular, exponential, logistic, Gompertz and linked differential equations take an important place in growth curve analysis of disease epidemics. The highly informative means of displaying a range of numerical data through construction of box and whisker plots has been suggested. The probable applications of recent advanced tools of linear and non-linear mixed models like the linear mixed model, generalized linear model, and generalized linear mixed models have been presented. The most recent technologies such as micro-array analysis, though cost effective, provide estimates of gene expressions for thousands of genes simultaneously and need attention by the molecular biologists. Some of these advanced tools can be well applied in different branches of rice research, including crop improvement, crop production, crop protection, social sciences as well as agricultural engineering. All possible arrangements of cycles of three periodic as well as four periodicHerman rings of transcendental meromorphic functions having at least one omitted value aredetermined. It is shown that if p = 3 or 4, then the number of p-cycles of Herman rings isat most one. We have also proved a result about the non-existence of a 3-cycle and a 4-cycleof Herman rings simultaneously. Finally some examples of functions having no Herman ringare discussed.

Antimicrobial proteins/peptides are becoming a new generation of immunostimulants for prevention and disease control in human and animals,including aquatic *** the haemolymph of horseshoe crabs(Tachypleus)contains broad ranges of bioactive compounds,we have explored the in vivo immunostimulating potential of amoebocyte lysate and plasma using a fish *** major carp,Labeo rohita,yearlings were injected intraperitoneally with two doses of lysate and plasma at 50 and 100µg protein per *** abnormalities and/or mortalities were recorded in any *** injected with 50µg lysate and 100µg plasma protein showed significant enhancement(P0.01)in any *** the contrary,a significantly high hemolysin titre was recorded in fish that received 100µg plasma *** challenge with Aeromonas hydrophila,both lysate and plasma protein(s)cross protected the fish after 30 *** highest survival(50%)was recorded in group injected with 50µg lysate protein,followed by 45%in both 100µg lysate and plasma protein injected groups.
